On June 22, 2018, tragedy struck the Anaheim Marriott Suites when thousands of fans swarmed in the hopes of entering the now-infamous TanaCon. After being disgraced by competing influencer convention Vidcon, Tana Mongeau vowed to host her own bigger, cooler, and more affordable event down the street. With a star-studded lineup of creators like Shane Dawson, Emma Chamberlain, David Dobrik, Gabbie Hanna and JennXPenn--TanaCon was poised to be the greatest con of all time.
And it was... just not in the way fans had hoped. Partnering with sassy Segway driver Michael Weist, it turns out that the event ended up being cash-grab scheme for his alleged company Good Times. Fans were promised free tickets, but were instead price gouged. Over 5,000 people were sold tickets to a venue that could hold a maximum capacity of 1,000. They waited hours in the hotel parking lot, baking in the California sun and getting third-degree sunburns. There was no food nor water--and while their sunburns would fade, the trauma would last a lifetime. This is the truth about TanaCon.
