Omg!! I bought two Just Trish t-shirts when they first came out on the Shopify, but only one was sent to me. I emailed the Customer Support and got my order refunded and another shirt was sent to me, which was sooo nice. Since then I have bought a hoodie, a third shirt, and a blanket. They talked about customer support dealing with one or two customers at 36:00, and how they are sometimes scammers, I hope they weren’t talking about me! I actually didn’t get the second shirt I paid for 😭 But they were so helpful with getting the issue sorted out.

I hope someone sees this and passes the message along to Trish! I work at a Pilates studio and do pilates 6-7 days per week. I just heard the new Not Loveline where Trish was asking some questions about Pilates, and I really cannot recommend it enough!!! 1. Pilates is for everybody and EVERY BODY! Need to start with this because it’s so important. Trish mentioned not being sure if she could even do pilates (implying that she’s not in shape enough). I need this idea to be thrown out the window!! Pilates was literally developed to rehabilitate injured war veterans who couldn’t do regular exercise. At my studio, we have SO many clients who are 65-95 years old, clients who are overweight, clients who are pregnant or postpartum, clients who are disabled, partially paralyzed, etc. While we do have clients of all gender identities, I will say that Pilates tends to be more female-dominated due to negative stereotypes men have about it. For me, having mostly women around makes Pilates studios feel like such a safe place and welcoming, supportive environment. Especially compared to conventional gyms where I was constantly harassed by men. I think Trisha would appreciate this aspect too. Pilates is fantastic for rehabilitating injuries and developing better mobility, stability, balance, strength, and flexibility for everyday life. I know it’s become trendy recently, but it is not about aesthetics. It is fantastic for your longevity and preventing injury especially as you grow older. There are so many accommodations and adjustments that can be made based on your body’s abilities and limitations. 2. Take privates instead of group classes Since money isn’t a major concern, privates are the way to go. With privates (one-on-one) or semi-privates (one instructor for two clients), the instructor can give you so much more individualized attention and cater the workout to your goals, abilities, injuries, etc. And you don’t have to worry about any perceived pressure of other people judging you or comparing yourself in a group class, like Tana mentioned. If you can find a master instructor, that would be ideal. We have a master instructor who was trained by one of Joseph Pilates’ (creator of pilates) protégés, and her skill level at teaching is unbelievable! 3. The instructor you have matters SO MUCH This is honestly the most important part. Going to a good studio can make/break your experience. It is so important to have a HIGHLY experienced and holistic instructor who knows what they’re doing and has worked with all different kinds of people. Going very slowly, giving lots of corrections, and making sure to cue your breathing is so essential. Pilates is not about speed, weight, and doing crazy moves. It is a low-impact form of exercise (which is great given Trisha’s knee injury). With the right instructor, pilates can truly be such a spiritual and mentally healing experience in addition to helping your body. It has completely transformed my mental health. I am so spoiled because the instructors at my studio are truly incredible. I’m in the Bay Area but my studio (Mighty Pilates) has locations in LA too. I can’t speak to if the instructors are as good as the ones at my studio because I haven’t been to those locations. 4. Try to avoid “trendy” studios Since pilates has become more trendy, there are a lot of studios and corporate brands that have made it into a high intensity quick-paced group class format, and while there is nothing wrong with that, it’s not the same as classical pilates and some of these places don’t take enough precaution to prevent injury. Personally, I prefer low-impact, slow, controlled classical movements that focus on breath and mind-body connection. I would just be very careful about the studio you choose because I do know some places in LA cater more towards influencers and these places might perpetuate stereotypes that pilates is only for a certain type of person (thin, white, young, etc). They might not have the diverse clientele and highly experienced instructors that make pilates a welcoming and safe space for everyone. - I hope Moses, Kali, or Oscar see this and pass the message along! Or the information can be of help to anyone else in the comments here 🩷 much love
