My food noise showed up as waking up in the middle of the night and eating an entire meal and it’s like I HAD to eat or i wouldn’to back to sleep . It was craziness. I’m 61 years old and in the last year and a half I’ve gone from 220 to 123 pounds. I’m 5’6” so you can definitely be 100 pounds being soooo short Trish ! I have a now 13 year old adopted who is black. I’ve had her since she was a baby. I’m a 61 year old white woman who has had three now grown children.. no one even has wavy hair until my little one ! She has such tight curls ! This year for her 13th birthday she got braids installed. But all the years of her life I’ve done her hair. I’ve watched videos, read articles , asked strangers in the beauty stores etc. Yes kids will cry when getting their hair done - but it’s just something they need to get used to bc they will have to deal w their type hair for a lifetime so they NEED us to learn for them , do their hair daily, and teach tj for to care for it. I remember long ago you said you were made fun of for your hair being frizzy and uncared for.. that’s something you do not want your kids to experience. Hair is SUCH an important aspect of how children view themselves . Just a little advice from a mom who had to learn about curly hair !! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Curly hair tips: Never brush dry, only brush wet, brush starting from the bottom so you detangle the ends of the hair, then the middle, then the root, them start brushing from root to end after dentangling. If all of this is done with the hair wet it should make the curls bunch together well. Try a wide tooth comb to brush rather than the traditional brush with a lot of tips and bristles. Buy any curly hair leave-in conditioner or anti-frizz spray to put in their hair. Look up "scrunching" the product into the hair, toddlers may not like it but it shouldn't hurt the tender headed, will definitely help when they are older. Curly hair air dries beautifully so skip the blow dryer unless it's needed, if you need to blow dry use a diffuser attachment.

I have curly hair and my mom didn’t. She brushed my hair with conditioner in it when it got too tangled from playing. Even a water bottle with some conditioner in it helped. And I can’t recommend the bounce curl brush more! I wish I knew about it sooner!

Hi Trish! As a curly hair person, I recommend in between wash days, spritz the girls’ hair with warm water, use a detangling spray (not your mother’s kids curly hair spray is my go to) and then detangle from end to root with a wide tooth comb. From there, you can use a denman brush to style it (a couple of braids is an easy way to make it look cute but also protect their curls) but I’m telling you trying to brush it out dry with no product is painful and causes breakage and frizz. It took me a hot minute to learn how to take care of my curls so I hope this helps the process go more smoothly for y’all!
