Wonder Momo, the Complete Webcomic (Patreon)

Back in 2012 there was a crew inside the game and animation company Namco Bandai who had a weird and wonderful idea. They wanted to take old and defunct intellectual properties that the company owned but hadn't done anything with for years and rebuild them for a modern audience. It was decided that a series of webcomics would make for the perfect testing ground for those new designs and stories under an imprint they called 'Shiftylook'. The UDON studio was approached to spearhead this development and I took a role as both a Project Manager and Writer on several of the properties.

WONDER MOMO was a Japanese-only release video game from 1987 about a schoolgirl who transforms into a sci-fi hero. The game is a surprisingly difficult side-scroll beat 'em up.

The Wonder Momo webcomic story was developed by Erik Ko and I as an homage to classic sentai and anime series from Japan, told with big slapstick and drama. From that original brainstorming session I scripted 200 strips that would run online over the next two years. From there, Shiftylook would spearhead a new Wonder Momo game and an anime mini-series based on our story and the characters we reinvented or developed from scratch.

Sadly, Shiftylook went offline in late 2014 and took its webcomic archives with it. I'm quite proud of what our team put together so I thought I'd post my original scripts for you to read through and enjoy.
