The mystery continues and weaves in unexpected directions.

Working with obscure characters and writing a classic X-Men-style caper is a ton of fun. Can't wait for people to see where we're taking this.

Here's the full issue on comiXology so you can compare the script to the final published version:

Hey Jim how far ahead of release would you say your scripts are completed. I am finding with the book I'm writing now that the process as a whole takes a super long time at the indie level. I'm curious on a pro level how quickly the pencils, colors, and letters come together to meet deadlines. Thanks!

My work-for-hire projects are usually 4 months ahead, so I'm finishing scripts for January and submitting solicits for February right now. Some projects are further out - when we did Avengers: No Surrender we were 9-10 months ahead, but with a weekly-release series that extra buffer was needed. Keep in mind though that monthly comic production is very different from indie production. When it's a full-time job and there are monthly deliverables things have to move much faster. On my next creator-owned project I'm going much more slowly so we have time to build it up bit by bit.

Thanks Jim. The project I'm working on now has 40 pages out of 66 penciled in about 5 months limited primarily by budget. However it made me realize how slow of a process comics can be. I am always asking myself if I can meet the productivity demands of a pro gig while still doing family, and work and all that. I'm improving with the outlining and story structure process which has given me the confidence that I can. Thanks for your help in those areas.
