Thanks so much. I feel like, as a consumer, there are are so many ways to begin a story. However, several books I’ve read or other videos I’ve seen recommend that you stick to something that will immediately hold the readers interest such as an action/tension sequence. I’m working as a new writer on my own crime/action IP. Since I’m a first timer and my IP is new , I have the challenge of capturing the reader from the very beginning, while making them care about my character. The main reason I’ll turn a movie off early or stop reading a title is when I don’t care about what will end up happening to the characters. I have a beginning sequence written that puts the entire series of events in motion. I just need to decide what I want to present as the first panel.
