MUNCHKIN Short Stories: Full Script and Ref (Patreon)

Munchkin is the classic fantasy-humor card game created by John Kovalic, a staple of almost every board gamer's collection. I've been a fan of Munchkin for years and when John told me that BOOM had obtained the license to make Munchkin as a comic, I was happy to contribute back-up stories to the first four issues.

Writing gag-based humor like this was tougher than I expected. Almost every panel has some kind of joke, a pun or a double entendre, a visual/sound-based joke or combination of all of the above. With 5-6 panels per page and 6 pages per story that meant I had to come up with 30+ chuckle-worthy little gags every story. Some were taken straight from the game cards, but many others were original, building on the nonsense the game does so well.

It was a really fun project to be a part of.
