Thunderbolts #12 arrived in stores on Wednesday, wrapping up my current run and leading our team into Secret Empire. It's a dark finish that's been planned for some time.

Since this might be my final Thunderbolts issue, I thought I'd mark the occasion here with the full script, the original pitch that got me the gig in the first place, and the story outline I wrote for issues #1-3 as we got it all rolling.

When you check out that pitch, if you've been reading the series, you'll see some elements are slightly different but that, on the whole, it's carried through pretty clearly right from the start. I was brought on board after Avengers Standoff to develop the Bolts and ready them for Secret Empire and that's what I did, building a little spot for myself in the Avengers office at the same time.

With Uncanny Avengers and other Marvel work coming up in the months ahead, I'm staying pretty busy.  I'm hoping I'll be able to continue Thunderbolts again after the summer event, but plans haven't been finalized on that front just yet. Fingers crossed.

If you want to compare the approved script to the published issue, here it is on comiXology:

The editor can provide ref/reading material upon request. In my case on Thunderbolts I went way deeper than is required - I went back and read every Thunderbolts issue, plus key issues for Bucky Barnes and other members of the cast, taking notes throughout. This was my first monthly Marvel superhero gig and I really wanted to show that I was taking it seriously and that I understood the characters well both as a writer and a fan.

That is awesome feedback Jim. As a new writer I am super grateful gmfor the insight into how these things work.
