I know this is an old post but one of the best and most realistic war movies I have ever watched is The Outpost, on Netflix. It is based on true events and those who survived ensured the accuracy of the film.

Danger Close is about the Australian and New Zealand forces who helped in the Vietnam war. Based on a true event in 1966, the film had actors who were related to the men that served during that incident, and the ending credits showed pictures of the actors next to pictures of the men that were there. American veterans also praised the Aussies they served with.
