I would have preferred an intro how they got shipwrecked together, plus I would have preferred an antagonistic relationship since he is a bully to her son, that scenario would have been more realistic.

Hey Rodeotexas ! I totally understand your point of view and believe me, I would love to give even more depth to the stories and characters too. However I think for the subject matter ( for adults), it is necessary not to stretch the story too much. I cannot afford to do 200 pages where the characters just talk. I hope you can understand the situation.
