Do you hand-draw the elevation distinctions and mountain patterns? Or do you generate that somehow? (i.e. the low-land green to the darker green, to the pale green, to the browns and greys of elevation?)

Do you use a soften function on the lasso? I find it gives very jagged edges. I'm still learning the ropes of PS haha

not really - the base map is pretty big and 400 dpi. so ive not really had any issues with it
