Fun facts about ThamePo! First, ThamePo was in development for five years! The director couldn’t find anyone who fit the roles, so I think that’s why everything felt like they knew what they wanted from the start. The series had been in development for so long! Second, Est he didn’t know who he would be playing alongside and when he went to go meet who he was going to play alongside with.He said he walked into the room and saw William and Hong there. He instantly knew William was the one because, and I quote, “because Hong looked like the same ‘position’ as me.” 😂 Actually, Hong and Est have a performance together! Est invited Hong to join him for a stage during the fancon he and William had. William and Est have also shared on multiple occasions how hard they fought to become an official couple in the series. Est received a lot of hate while ThamePo was airing, and at one point, he even tried to walk away. However, William fought hard for Est to stay. Basically, they were Thame and Po in real life. 😭❤️ Another fun fact: ThamePo was the director’s first BL series! Finally, the hair-dye scene between Nut and Hong was added at the very last minute because the brand reached out to the director and asked her to include it. In an interview, the director talked about it, saying, “There is chemistry between them, right? The clients see it too.” Fans went CRAZY because it was one of the last scenes, and people had already been shipping Jun and Dylan. So, when that scene spread around the internet, everything became so chaotic!

Thank you for the info! Wow, so Jun and Dylan became fan service in a way...do they have a name?? 😭 Also, why were ppl upset about Est??

Yes, in a way, it is funny because Nut and Hong have gained so much popularity and built a massive fan base together! They’ve been getting a lot of duo schedules, brand deals, and other opportunities. There are even rumors about them possibly becoming an official pairing, but rumors are just rumors, lol. As for Est, he received a lot of hate because some people didn’t want LYKN to enter the BL space. They argued that if William became part of an official pairing, it would “ruin” LYKN. Another reason was that, at the time, people were used to heavily shipping William and Lego together.

Oh man lol. The thing about shipping is....well....none of these guys should actually ship unless they want to themselves. The series itself touches upon how much control the fans have over the decisions of the group on a personal level....and I would hate to see Nut and Hong become a pair if they’re just giving into fan pressure as opposed to them actually wanting to do it themselves. These guys are all friends and it's crazy to think they'd have to be forced to "date" or start kissing each other just to fulfill the needs and fantasies of their fans. Same with William and Lego. It's like....."We don't want you to do a BL series!! But please hook up with each other!" 💀💀💀

Yes, shipping culture can be very toxic. I’ve seen how people treated WilliamEst at the beginning of their pairing, and it seems like that same hate has now shifted toward Nut and Hong for the same reason people claiming they’re “ruining” LYKN. Since Nut and Hong have been getting schedules as a duo, some people have called it unfair because of the opportunities they’ve gained. They’ve also compared their schedules to WilliamEst’s, pointing out how WilliamEst barely gets schedules together while Nut and Hong seem to have more. But the thing is, William and Est are both very popular and extremely busy with their own individual projects! I rarely give GMMTV grace because they’re not the best at managing certain things… However, the company does allow its artists to choose whether they want to become an official pairing. If a pairing isn’t working out, they can also conclude their work together as a pair if both parties agree. GMMTV also gives its artists choices when it comes to singing, acting, and other opportunities. Artists have expressed that they have a lot of freedom when deciding whether to accept brand deals or scripts for shows they’re offered. Of course, that doesn’t mean the company handles everything perfectly, but I do think it’s important to recognize that the artists have some say in their own work. (I hope this doesn’t come off as hate of any kind I don’t want anyone to misunderstand me 😭)
