"Sunset in the distance" is the perfect way to describe that ending. So so perfect 🩷

I think Daisy was always curious about what Billy would be like when drunk. All the time she knew him, he was sober and it was a big part of their relationship. The fact that he was an addict who was sober, and she was an addict who was not. And I think she was always curious about it. And then he relapsed, and I think that curiosity increased at first, when he kissed her. That's what I always got from that look. She was intrigued and excited by this shift. But then the second he mentioned that Camila had left him, it kinda snapped her out of it and she really looked at him and saw what was going on. He was about to lose EVERYTHING. His wife, his daughter, his life. They were always mirrors of each other, and I think in that moment seeing what Billy was on the brink of losing, she realised how bad it had gotten for her too. Billy had felt like he was looking in a mirror for most of the show, but I don't think Daisy truly got there until she saw him at his lowest. And him calling them both broken again really made it hit home that that was not what she wanted. She wanted more. And I love that they were able to acknowledge that they wouldn't have been good for each other back then. They were both far too vulnerable and they would've ended up destroying each other. But then at the end, they're finally both in a place where they can maybe actually be good for each other. They both have the resources to help them when they're struggling, and both just seem to be pretty well adjusted. Which is always nice to see in stories like this. Honestly one of my favourite things to see in shows, when there are characters who were an absolute mess all their lives and then we see them when they're older and they've just so clearly worked on themselves and figured things out. Camila was honestly the best though. Like, she loved both Billy and Daisy so much, that was always so clear. And they both hurt her so much. But then while she's dying, she records a message for her daughter to tell them to get in touch. That she wants them to see what they can do. Whether that be they just meet up and get closure, meet up and make music, or go all the way and end up together. Her last message was for these people who she loved who hurt her so much, to go find each other and be happy. I love her. Agh, and Karen! So clearly in love with Graham, but knowing that this isn't the life he wanted. He wanted a family, with marriage and kids and a house. He said he'd be happy either way as long as he was with her, but she knew that wasn't fair. On either of them. Because he'd grow to resent her because he'd be giving up what he really wanted, and she'd likely grow to resent him too due to feeling guilty at letting him give up the life he wanted for her. She broke his heart, and her own, but she knew it was what she had to do.
