The growth of Mickey asking for advice, we love character development!!

I love how everyone is just saying the same thing, “ did you have the talk?” 😂 it’s an interesting dynamic how shameless is depicting prison and the romantic relationships. I have no idea if this is actually how it is, but there’s something very chill about it.

Probably not that realistic, but for comedy and entertainment purposes it's great to watch the other inmates casually mention the "talk" to Ian and Mickey 😂 (It's a recurring theme with them going forward as well) Also these last two seasons are a lot lighter and not as dark and heavy. If this was happening in the early seasons the prison storyline would be completely different.

Mickey and his reaction to Ian getting parole. I think he's just freaking out, and a little deja vu. What happened last time Mickey was in prison and Ian was not? I think this is a knee jerk reaction to that, and he just wants Ian to want to stay. And of course he gets some advice and doesn't let him do it.

I'm glad Mickey asked for help, but why did he have to ask his father's friends? I would think that's the worse source of advice possible! (It turned out to be good advice, but can't say I love Mickey going to those guys for help). You seemed perfectly coherent. More than I'd be at 4am! lol

This is hella late but, Mickey wanting Ian to throw his parole hearing makes a whole lot of sense. Mickey has constantly sacrificed for Ian in big ways and Ian has not really ever done anything for Mickey in return. Mickey even starting a relationship with Ian was a huge sacrifice. We saw the consequences of that in ep 306. Then he comes out, very publicly, for Ian in season 4. Then in season 5 he takes it on himself to take care of Ian through his bipolar episodes. Then he gets broken up with, shot at, and locked up for his troubles. Ian doesn’t even go to visit him in prison for like 2 years. Then Mickey escapes in season 7 because all he wants is a life with Ian, who goes all the way to the border just to tell Mickey that he can’t have that. THEN he not only turns himself in, but rolls on A CARTEL so he can be with Ian in prison. I totally understand him wanting Ian to sacrifice a little bit. Not saying any of it is ethical or moral, but I get it.
