Man this is going to be a hell of a season! Forgot a lot of what's happened but it's slowly coming back to me. A lot of great storylines that are more intense and critical to the Gallaghers character development! I look forward to these reactions every week!

I really love how strong the writing is at developing character and motivation in these earlier seasons. So much of Lip's current impudence stems from him now understanding how much of the burden of their family situation has been placed on Fiona over the years, and how much he doesn't want to have to take over this perceived burden. He's said as much, that if he gets out and goes to college he thinks he'll become the golden goose, and that he'll be footing the bill for the family for the rest of his life. But he's also terrified that if Fiona improves her own financial security and social collateral that she'll do the opposite and leave all together (not that she wouldn't deserve to after the way her life has panned put so far). But deeper than that, Lip's terrified of upsetting the status quo because it means that he will have to prove he can live up to all this untapped potential - no longer will he be able to stay the big fish in the little pond, he'll instead be a tiny fish in an ocean full of people who will almost always have the upper hand because they were dealt better cards from the get go. He'd rather stay a poor, smart-alec kid from the ghetto because that's all he's ever known, and he wants Fiona to stay with them because this family is all he's ever known. The parallels drawn between Lip and Fiona are great, and you can also see the traits that are reflected down from the parents. Lip and Fiona have more in common with Frank than either of them want to admit.

Thank you for that talk in the beginning, it was something I needed to hear

Chelsea I.

I agreed with Lip on one thing this ep. That Fiona should have talked to at least Lip and Ian about it before using that $1000. I know she is the one that made the money, but with the taxes over due that should have been talked about. They all work to pay bills. I do get why she did it, but she should have done some more research on it before hand. They were both in the wrong imo.
