“All participants experienced a reduction of intensity or frequency of negative emotions, which they attributed to their SSRI anti-depressant. Most participants considered that at some stage the reduction in negative emotions was beneficial to them, bringing relief from distressing negative emotions, and allowing normal daily life to resume. Some participants reported that negative emotions had been removed almost entirely. The negative emotions commonly described as reduced included sadness; emotional pain or distress; anger, irritability or aggression; and anxiety, worry or fear. Other negative emotions such as fear and surprise, embarrassment, guilt and shame, and disappointment were also mentioned to a degree.”

So is this just a removal of stimulation oth negative and positive. Basically a state of non emotion? Better zombie force is easier to influence since there isn't a drive due to emotion either positive or negative.

I’m on SSRIs and I purposefully stay on a low dose because of this. Enough to mostly prevent crippling depression and panic attacks but not enough to have me disengage from life. It’s not a fun balancing act

This tracks with my experience I’ve been on and off them and back on them again. Mostly to manage anxiety but the effect is there. I don’t feel like I’ve experienced a deadening of positive emotions, but perhaps the band of experience has been narrowed if that makes sense? I can still be and experience happiness. Trying to combine medication with cognitive behavioural therapy - work and life in general are stressful!
