JABS FOR NEWBORNS?
Caption: https://www.who.int/en/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/hepatitis-b
Why would a newborn baby need to get vaccinated for Hepatitis B if it’s an infection that’s supposed to be transmitted through genital fluids or injected drug use.
THIS IS ACTUALLY A REALLY EASY ONE! it’s because the disease is MOST COMMONLY spread from an infected mother to her baby DURING CHILDBIRTH, which, as you may, or may not, know, involves lots of contact with BOTH genital fluids AND blood. And, the SECOND most common way it spreads actually not through degenerate adult activities. It’s from the saliva of other toddlers that your kids come into contact with (WHO; UpToDate)
Getting a baby vaccinated immediately at birth blocks the virus from getting a foothold (Ghendon, 2002), which, if the virus had its way, would 95% likely give him chronic liver disease that often turns into liver failure & cancer (Aspinall et al, 2011; WHO).
The disease is actually much MILDER for adults than it is for babies and kids under 5 years old, which means it’s MOST important to get vaccinated for it at birth and as kids.
