Ooh!! I do kinda hope that is this is going where I think it's going, it's gonna get rolled out as, like, this is now optional. I'm worried some of the guards may just feel more comfortable invisible and wouldn't want them to lose permission, just to not be required to.

I'm thinking that the invisibility will be an actual tool more than a tradition or taboo. To be able to guard unseen when necessary, seems like a hell of a bonus. Plus, they can be an actual presence when the court needs to show off their perceived power. Win-Win Imagine it, the adversary walks into the throne room; advisors, members of the nobility, and of course the King himself sitting there, seemingly alone. Then with a flick of the king's fingers, the entire palace guard simply appear out of nowhere, lining the room and fully armed. The scene is fantastic.

Fore sure it would just become more of a tool than something that is rigidly enforced! :D It's definitely a useful skill and one that helps keep the kingdom safe~ At the very least off duty the guards can be just themselves and not worry about having to keep unseen just because of their status ^^
