Having started working in food service myself, they totally should have pointed out where you could find all the necessary tools and showed you how it was done first 😅 You definitely could have asked, too, but really how would you have known?

I need you to know how hard I cringed when you sliced that tomato North to South 😬 That bothered me more than the no cutting board lol. Always, ALWAYS cut tomatoes East to West

If it makes you feel any better, the last time I was actually in a Wendy's, I heard the manager screaming at one of the employees because he thought he could stick his bare hands in the fryer to retrieve the fries once they were done cooking. (In fairness to the manager, I feel the need to point out it was the "oh my god he's about to permanently disfigure himself - I need to stop this" panicked kind of screaming, not "nasty manager is extra angry" rage screaming).

Based on what I've seen of fast food kitchens (from the ordering counter, I've never actually been in one) I would have assumed that they just made the whole counter a cutting board for convenience.
