But wait. Alcor's brush broke during the king battle at the beginning, and black came out that ( I assume) tainted the star-creature. What was that? I somehow doubt it was commoner blood, but it turned the creature into a star-eater. Am I wrong in assuming that until the brush broke that the creature was standard? So what happened there? I'm confused.

Yes! The thing that Alcor made ended up being a corrupted star creature and so it turned into a star eater from him pushing himself ^^ It happened just with his own blood! If you go back to look the star eater is a different shade of black and lacks the stars twinkling in the darkness for this creature!
