"Mary Jane" by Alanis Morissette is dedicated to ma baby girl Poppy.

I've loved "Mary Jane" for the longest time - 2 decades now?? I feel like I wrote the character Poppy with the song constantly at the back of my mind. And I'm overjoyed that after so long, I've finally gotten a chance to share this character I've created with everybody else. It gets me very emotional every time I listen to it and think about Pops. Even though Tora's the star of the show (apparently 😂), I love my silly child just as much - or maybe more - and with all my heart. She may not be the smartest or the bravest, but she's a good, honest, hardworking girl.

I have a lot of love for poppy. I feel like the way she is written there is still so much I don't know about her personality and I love that her character is slowly fleshing out and I'm seeing more sides to her as the story progresses. Maybe it's just me but I feel like poppy is more mysterious than tora despite her being more of the main character

Oh, don't get me wrong, Tora is an absolutely gorgeous man and we all love looking at him.... But this story wouldn't be what it is without our dearest Poppy! She is so sweet, honest, hard-working, cute, silly, and she's the one bringing out the side of Tora that we all want to see! Poppy is such beautiful character ❤️ her resolve to do the right thing, no matter how much she needs to stretch her courage is really inspiring. It is so nice to see a character that has innocence and grit all packaged in one, while her gentleness is so healing for someone like Tora ❤️

Poppy really resonates with me because I am not honest or gentle. My pride gets the better of me and I hate feeling vulnerable. My personality is very similar to shin-ae from I love yoo if you all know that webtoon. I did the personality test and we actually got the same personality type. I don’t open up to people or see the good in others. I’m skeptical of kindness and I hate relying on others for anything so poppy is literally the essence of how I wish I was and it is nice to be able to see things through her eyes.

Out of curiosity, does anyone feel that female mc = female author (or like the author is writing about herself)? Poppy and I are as different as night and day apart from a few traits like being extremely forgetful and careless. But she embodies all that I've ever wanted to cherish and would lay my life down for. Which is why she's so precious to me. Also why I think I can channel Tora's desire to protect and care for her really effectively. OTOH tora represents everything that I've ever wanted to shag

Totally off topic here. You know what would be hilarious? If Tora ends up in the restaurant from episode 8 at some point and the little old couple there hear's his name and goes ape shit on him.
