I apologize but this is going to be a long one because episode 5 is arguably my favorite episode so far (although the new fast pass may be a contender... damn it was good) and I can’t help but obnoxiously rant about all the reasons why so here we go.... First, even without the amazing dialogue, you can feel the intensity of the opening scene. Each face is so expressive, except Tora, who has a hauntingly dead look in his eyes. And while all the characters piqued my interest, It was the power struggle between Vincent Balthuman and Tora that really blew my mind. Balthuman is a fucking badass and I love how much I absolutely hate his guts. He oozes power and wealth, and his perfectly quaffed, dotting father-figure persona is so sickeningly realistic that I get chills. My favorite scene was 100% where he asks Tora to look into the Goliath issue, and Tora demands a raise. It was the perfect power move, where Tora knows he’s stuck doing this man’s dirty work, but he wants to show he’s not a mindless dog. Balthuman counters with perfect alacrity, throwing in a fatherly pat in an amazing move that both undermines Tora’s minor attempt at “rebellion” and emphasizes that he’s still the one in power. (Also- the deliberate inhale of the cigarette after his boss just told him to stop smoking...you showed him boy) Then there is baby Tora... I mean... come on. Just stab me in the heart right now. You’ve got Balthuman looking way too handsome for how black his soul is, little innocent Quincey who sounds like an adorable child being so relatable, and Tora trying to be a tough little man IN A FUCKING HOLE OF DESPAIR. And as he remembers this, he thinks of Poppy. At this point my brain has pretty much imploded. Then Lily, being the kind and empathetic author that she is, gives us salvation in the form of big eyed little kitty. That shot of Poppy, silhouetted, climbing the tree is gorgeous, and that “you’ve-got-to-be-fucking-kidding-me” expression on Tora’s face is the comic relief we all needed. They collide, the kitty sashays away like the little sassy Cupid he is, and our hearts are healed again. I’m going to stop now because this post has gotten out of hand but... I’m just so in love. If you’ve made it to the end here, thank you, and go hug your loved ones.

Little Tora, my heart! 😩 I just want to hug him and tell him it's going to be okay but for all we know it only to worse for him! I'm sincerely hoping that Poppy helps him find himself and helps heal his battered heart and soul. She's already broken through some walls unintentionally and that's what makes it so wonderful. She's not even trying. 💕 These two are such an amazing pairing and the personalities shine through. Amazing job Lily. 😁

I do wonder how Balthuman became Tora's sorta guardian. Was he sold by his family to pay a debt? Or, this is a long shot, is Tora actually his illegimate son? If that is the case, I suppose Tora and Quincey wouldn't know about it.

The fact that this big brute of a man still has fears and acknowledges that, shows he way more human then he tries to portray himself as “Big Brother Tora” I enjoy the little bit of backstory.

This is so far my favorite episode because we get to see more of Tora’s back story and it brings so much more to this amazing character. Him crying as a child really shook me.

I loved this episode! It was so different from the old story and yet so fitting. I love that we got some of tora's backstory because it made him in an instand so real!

I love this episode. It's really interesting to see Tora's backstory. I really wonder how his treatment didn't make him want to take down Balthuman rather than be super loyal.

I had to go and read the description on Weston because of an earlier comment and if she does start falling in love with Quincey it's going to break my heart every time I see it, even though I know Tora is her boothang. 🤣 Okay, but back to these images. First of all Lily, your art is just so damn incredible. I love it so much. And your storyline is so interesting. That image of Tora just standing in the darkness...wow. like there is so much feeling in that photo. And then his look when he sees poppy. Lmao I loved it. All of a sudden he is seeing her everywhere and that's amazing. When I was reading it before it was on webtoon, I dont remember her getting attached to quincey, but I'm probably just so focused on Tora and Poppy that that may have went right over my head. Either way, I'm so excited to continue reading. Thank you for such a lovely story!
