High-res artwork for Ep 15. I hope this wasn't too much of a shocker, I'm actually pretty nervous about this one. It headed in a completely different direction from the previous version, only because I feel like this makes more sense now, given how the plot has developed in this version. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks - let's discuss! <33

I truly appreciate the different direction. I think it showcases more of their true character and potential to grow/adapt. The first version was heavy on Poppy and her thoughts, whereas this version is balancing between both Tora and Poppy.

This chapter ripped my heart out and I'd pay you to do it again. I have no idea how you manage to breathe such life and depth into these characters week after week. It's such an incredible breath of fresh air to be able to see a pinnacle of masculinity like Tora show some tears and vulnerability, and to frame Poppy as his light is just... it's so good. And Ronzo/Gyu is an entire bean and I love him and his garbage umbrella tattoo. ❤

I have not seen the other version so I can’t speak on that but I feel like this was one of my top favorite episodes. The side stories are just as good as the romance. I came here for the romance and I am staying for the romance and the other aspects of Tora. It makes me want to know more about Tora and the other parts of his life. When he got emotional it really hurt me. I felt for him and understand how hard it is to move on from something. This episode let me know that it is ok if there isn’t a Poppy and Tora angle that other parts of Tora’s story are just as good. So keep writing what makes sense and let go of the past version. This version is taking on its own persona and I love it.

Lily! My heart melted! So much meaningful things happening in this chapter! Tora proved again how much he is a caring soul, with Gyu/Ronzo (who I think is one of the teens in that picture) and with Poppy, when he feels bad about her being looked down upon by those snobbish people, so he goes out of his way to change the place and his clothes. I understand now why he asked Guy/Ronzo to look into Poppy's background. He is one, if not the only one, he can trust with this. I wonder what happened when they were younger. I think it might involve Tora having to maybe kill someone. I think it might be related to Quincey's scar. Also I love how he dressed kinda formal. And that hat... Everyone wants a piece of that hat! The tattoo!!!! I love the kanji Tora/tiger, it's so him. Thank you for such a sweet and wonderful chapter! I love how Poppy is in the light and he is in the darkness at the end. 😍

I love the complexities of Tora's character. It's realistic to a character who would be in his profession and have had the experiences he has. It pulls a reader into his character and just doesn't have us hanging on for the ship. Poppy's insecurity is real. Haha. I know that feeling too well. It makes her so much more relatable. P.S. I mean...more images of Tora's back (and backside). Pleeeeeeeease. And that tattoo work - makes me swoon!

I love how Tora treats important people in his life and people he is loyal too. His loyalty is astounding. Changing his plans and never mentioning it is such an endearing quality in a human being. He doesn’t need to be recognized for how he does right by someone it just is who he is. I hope Poppy figures out that Tora is a good man sooner rather than later.

Last weeks heart to heart between Poppy & Erdene and now Tora & Gyu is such an awesome balance between the two and getting to know more about them. Today was exhausting. But finding out that MPL updates Fridays made it all the way better. I am loving this new change in Tora. We see he is still gruff and tough, but the boy has feelings. He just doesn't seem to completely understand them when it comes to Poppy. Pretty considers her a "light". And Poppy, awwwwww. Leggings and baggy sweaters 👌👌👌 Totally digging the shoes as well! LILY YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

Lilly no need to be nervous; this episode was a homerun!! Tora's interactions with the people around him are fantastic. I love that we see more of his softer side and hints of his past. I feel like he has had to make this protective outer shell because of what he does, but inside is a man who feels quite deeply and is trying to deal with everything that he has had to do and become for this line of work. Trauma never goes away on it's own and you can't burry it. You might think you've got everything under control and in a box, but it's a Pandora's box with holes in it. Things slip through. I just want to give him a big hug and tell him he's not alone. 🥰

I love love love how this episode changed from the original. This new story is so well done, and the character depth is wonderful to read. I think Tora wanted to change to make Poppy feel more comfortable, and when changing remembered that she could see his tattoos when he helped her from the tree.

I felt it went well with the world you are setting up. It is not all sunshine and rainbows and we gotta see really a lot more about Tora. He is sincere to those he cares about. Though in his dark world, his sincerity and willingness to do anything for those he cares about has most likely been used against him. Loyalty has been beaten into him and he obeys. It actually shows how strong willed Tora is that he still has that softness and humor still lurking underneath. Though he would not admit it easily I am sure. But we can see it clearly with Poppy and Quincy. Anyway, to leave this on a more silly and thirsty note. You killed it and Tora was hot...like I wish I was that hoodie.

Tora doesn't bother to look nice or dress different for the big boss, but immediately changes cause Poppy looks uncomfortable. ❤️ it. Everytime a new chapter comes out (as I wait "patiently" lol) it never disappoints and I usually end up rereading it 10x. Don't we all. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I really love the humanity that was brought into these characters compared to the old version. Not sure if that’s a weird statement, but the insecurity that poppy felt and the moment where Tora and Gyu were tearing up really hit me. I can’t get the scene out of my head when baby Tora was caged up and I’m assuming, conditioned to behave like Quincy’s father called him “a dog”. It’s like how pit bulls aren’t aggressive dogs by nature but they’re trained to be that way. After what he’s possibly gone through and continues to go through there should be no reason for him to have a soft side like he does. Here he is trying to protect a girl he barely knows even though he really doesn’t need to concern himself when you think about it. I have no idea how this story will end because you could throw a complete twist, but I do hope Tora gets some form of a happy ending.

K, god dammit, I can't even reply to any of you, now... This shitty app drives me crazy... I just want to say that this episode killed me. I'm just so in love with Lily's story. I love the complexity of the characters. Just now my husband said that I look a little bit like poppy and I just blushed like crazy cause all I could think about was Tora... His hat and that perfect drawn body of his.... Pfffff I'm just lost for this guy... 😳 And about the extra mile he did, as always, for Poppy.... In my opinion he first wanted to make her fell comfortable and along with the mention Gyu made, he surely realised that it's better to cover his tattoos for now, at least.... And those last panels... What a beautiful metaforic image they are!!! 💕

I absolutly adore the last two panels... tora wondering if he'll ever get to see the light again and the first thing he sees when he thinks about it is Poppy LITTERALY standing in front of some lights and she's the only thing that illuminated❤ it was absolutly heart wrenching but very beautiful!

It’s gotten to the point where I exploded with “Oh my God, Midnight Poppyland is SO GOOD!!!!” every week that now, at around 9ish, when my husbo sees me frantic on my phone, he asks, “another good episode this week?” You’re a household name. This flow is a lot less teasing than the first version, but in context and execution is really just perfect. I think most of us are still pulling for the “puppy/bobby” bit for next week🤣🤣🤣, but this setup was just sooo powerful. Excellent work as always.

OK SO, kinda piggybacking off what Jennifer said about trauma. While everyone deals with it differently, oftentimes we find trauma survivors questioning their value as a person. Think of it as a form of gaslighting yourself, taking on all the blame for what was done to you. This thought process is more common when “wounds” are fresh and, ideally, lessen as we come to accept what happened-when we humanize and love ourselves enough to truly understand we are not at fault for the traumatic instances pushed onto us. And that, our self-worth is not defined by our abusers/people who’ve inflicted that pain. Even though Gyu/Ronzo, Tora & Quincey were present to protect each other that one time, G/R seems to be at the “former” state of mind. I feel like it’s easier for him to feel stuck in this feeling of guilt because he essentially has more “room” to feel a wider range of emotions. Especially considering the implied difference between his and Tora’s work within the clan as members in different ranks. G/R didn’t have to (assumingely) experience as much gore and violence to the scale Tora did, and therefore past events were enough to scar him-but not to the point where he feels the need to mask his emotions for safety to the same degree as Tora. Meanwhile Tora is just about scratching the surface of the latter point. Now it’s not that Tora doesn’t have the range of emotions that G/R does, quite the opposite. It’s that before Poppy, Tora didn’t have the time or “room” in his mental state to let himself feel his anger, frustration, guilt & fears in a way that would lead him to a healthier kind of “release” like how G/R broke down in tears-due to constant clan duties and to hold up his harsh exterior to other members as a safety precaution. But knowing Tora’s personality and his choices to help others despite all he has done and been through, we can see that helping others is his way of grounding himself-preserving his will/morals/sanity so hatred doesn’t consume him and make him into the robotic killer Vincent wants him to be. To be that kind of person frightens Tora. He constantly chases and clings onto to the bits of emotional intimacy that make him feel at peace, or at least connected to his true self, even for a fleeting moment. In this process, Poppy is Tora’s catalyst. Tora is still making efforts to heal despite all the heavy things piled onto him. Helping others, the brief emotional connections are candles flicker and quickly fade in a dark tunnel. Maybe love from AND for another person is the light at the end of it. It’s not so much about “obtaining” that love, but finding out if we’re still worthy of it despite everything we’ve done-and everything that has ever happened to us.

Random chapter observation: When Poppy opens her texts to Tora, you can see their precious conversations and his name has been saved to her phone. In contrast, Tora just has her number (and while I don’t think he actually knows her name yet, he chose not to save her in his contacts) and we only see her current text to him. I might be overthinking here, but I get the idea he deleted their earlier texts, and probably does so routinely as a means of privacy and protection for her, so if anyone looks at his phone there is nothing to identify her by, or give anyone reason to suspect her involvement with him or his “investigation” into Goliath. Or maybe he’s just lazy... I mean look at his texting style 😂 but I like to think he’s super vigilant. Anyone agree or think I’m completely off base?

OMG the tattoos. I know he’s paying homage to his ancestors. That he gets the peony’s from Ulaan. I was re-reading Asura’s bride and I never noticed Yuwa’s kimono before. Now I see the Koi reference. It’s so sweet cause it’s the first thing Ulaan sees her in. 🥰 Also the Tattoos are hawt the way they have been done just beautiful. A work of art in themselves. 😚👌.
