Yes for Tora accepting the helping hand and pulling himself out of the hole. Yes for Bobby deciding she’s going to give as good as she gets and troll Tora off the face of the earth. Yes for banter. Yes for the picnic bag (oh god everything about it) Yes for someone MAKING A MEAL FOR TORA because damn he needs some love and attention in his life. YES for Tora sharing a little of his interests. Yes for picnic. Yes for that GORGEOUS star and cityscape I mean what the actual hell Lily. Yes for making me giggle and smile and forget a few things after a truly shitty day. Yes for writing that doesn’t drag them apart just for cliffhanger sake. Yes for spending an episode focusing on the little building blocks that go into a relationship - the choice to spend time together, the little conversations, the not-doing and just-being. Yes for Bobby presenting in a way that owns her womanhood and adulthood and agency more than she’s shown previously. It’s so interesting.....Pops has a very youthful innocent demeanor and it’s interesting how she presents a more sophisticated side with Tora the more she trusts him. It will be fascinating to see how her calm, confident, perceptive self comes out around Tora as they grow closer - even as she trusts him with her little joys (like strawberry juice boxes and braiding his hair and animal shaped food) that she’s probably been shamed for previously. And Tora being willing to express that he’s into her, really into her, that he cares for her - we see it under all the banter . Even that comment about picking up other food, about “not getting into that kind of trouble” with a minor - little tiny signs that Tora’s already halfway to endgame in his head, I think, and it’s probably the first time he’s ever had something to set his sights on beyond tomorrow. It’s a little tiny fire they’re building together and I just love the warmth it offers them both against the cold. Snuggles up with wine and waits for the Darlas and the Lolas and all the rest to chime in. Let the Friday night party commence!

usually I wait for my patty and my tiff to come thru with the long in depth comments and analysis, but I have THOUGHTS. AND FEELINGS. first up. I love their banter via text. I'm glad that we got to see what it was that she sent him in contrast to those other 20 calls/texts from Vincent, and that immediately after such a horrible night with him and all the other crime bullshit, Tora found himself with her again. second, the going back to the "rules" a little, their quid pro quo situation. Tora: I mean feed me if you want the info. Poppy Bae, call him out on his shit gworlllll! but look how quickly he rescinded and told her what she wanted to know. okay, I see you. Tora's got it bad. and Poppy said, uh, within the hour? and my man's was EARLY??!? third. I'm salivating over the full body shot of him in the nice sweater, shorts and the boat shoes. DID MAH BOY DRESS NICE FOR HIS WIDDLE STRAWBERRY THO. like on purpose?! ON PURPOSE?! We've seen him in jeans and streetwear for everything else, asides from some suit and tie Balthuman shenanigans, but the resonance in Poppy saying "it's like seeing a side of him I've never seen before." literally, emotionally and metaphorically. not only was he dressed nicely but the bright/white colors he was wearing, in contrast to the dark disguise of the previous episode? opening up to her in conversation? how quickly he was there to pick her up? and without any kind of debate? that remark goes deeper than I expected, and I love it. next, the fact that Now of all times she got a tazer. what changed to where she feels she needs the extra means of security, even while With Tora? (although I loved how she antagonized him on the way up there. but boy does need to work on his damn driving lol.) and yes she planned a picnic and yes a callback to our rice tiger episode and her fascination with junk food. and of course offering to get them something else? you're more of a gentleman than I thought, Tora. he took her bag, got the door for her, did the driving, and that little statement about not getting her into mafia life. yep. he's got it bad. but then again, so do i. Lily why did you make this man so attractive. LEG TATTOOS? *stares in thirsty ass hoe* and Poppy with her Garnier Perfect Locks?! Can we take a moment to appreciate how excited our little Poppychu was to be able to tease Tora with her taser? Also, I almost feel bad for Tora. First time he gets a kiss from Poppy and she yeets him down her stairs, blinded and cursing like a demented muppet. With more rereads comes things your brain doesn’t process right away because you’re too dang giddy about Poppy and Tora’s date. I.e Poppy finger combing her hair when she sees him or Tora dressing nice either because he feels that is the kind of guy he thinks Poppy belongs with or maybe it’s just because he took Mr. Lam’s words to heart and is trying to show himself the dignity and respect he deserves. His very gentlemanly behavior stands out as well, although we don’t know if Tora opened the door for her the other times he drove her but He also makes sure that she really wants to be alone with him giving her the opportunity to back out if she wanted. I love that she just whips out a pink taser and starts using it to get Tora to drive slower. Also poppy he is not just A big scary thug, he is YOUR big scary thug, get it right. Tora disappointed at the askew tiger was so cute and so different from Julri’s reaction to her making him cute food animals. God her worry that he thinks she’s a kid, and his instant and adamant denial, her face looked crestfallen in the background as she asked. And the scene where Ulaan offers Yuwa his hand, but she hesitates- reminds me so much of the “Climb Mt. Everest” scene from their dinner at Poppy's apartment and the kiss scene from chapter 36- Poppy and Yuwa both hesitate briefly to connect. And our rough and tumble boys just grab those wrists - how about that Mr. Lam chase scene where that’s ALL Tora does? 😏😏 Back to comparing AB to this episode- Ulaan saying “I won’t go slow this time. You best hold on tight.” I cackled when I re-read this in context of Tora’s comments when they’re driving up the hill “Usually women want me to do the opposite.” DEAD💀⚰️ Also, low key wondering if Ulaan was shitty at stabling his horse, maybe that’s where Tora gets the bad parking job genes from? LOL  Segue… I see you testing Poppy there, Tora. Still trying to convince her away from you by pointing out the dangers she’s in being with you. And why do I have this feeling Poppy and Tora are not far off from where Ulaan and Yuwa stopped along the river? The Narin River, by chance? And oh boy- the curse makes an appearance- Okuri Inu? I still love how I get so many answers and have so many questions too! I can’t help but think of those lines Ulaan’s father says to him as he was dying, “[You’re] the fiercest and the bravest… But you are also the kindest and that weakness will be your downfall if you let it.” - why do I feel like this comes into play for Tora as well? He *is* the fiercest and the bravest in his clan. But he also feels deeply - he’s more empathetic than he would ever let on. It’s why he drops everything to save Goliath, saved Gyu, why he went out of his way to protect Poppy. He needs to feel connection in a world where he is starved of it. And that introspective but hopeful side of him? That's ALL Yuwa in him. There’s this line where Yuwa is thinking about all of her problems outside the walls of that cozy tent with Ulaan and she says to herself, “But maybe just for now… I can allow myself to forget about all that.” Remind us of anyone a couple chapters ago? It’s no coincidence to me that both Yuwa and Tora allow themselves vulnerability in those moments - because they’re with someone they deeply connect to. And I think that's happening here again in this episode- maybe Tora is delaying the inevitable for just one more day. [Intermission for me to go have a good cry now.😭😭😭😭] Also of note- when Tora casually brings up the curse of being in the mafia- he’s trying to slip to Poppy again who he is without saying it outright. Ulaan did this too- Yuwa could’ve identified him if she’d known King Asura’s real name and recognized the crest tattoo on his neck. The same goes for Poppy- Tora has told her in several small ways the world he is part of, and those tattoos say a lot as well. And can we talk a minute about how they had a wholesome picnic in a place called “Thug’s Pavillion”? How fucking poetic is that?! 👏👏👏 And OMG, the hair braiding… again, I CANNOT. 😍😍😍 Why do I have the feeling that Tora is going to say “fuck no” at first and then totally cave because she’s going to cutesy pout to him. Though that one bare leg sticks out like a sore thumb and my OCD keeps telling “Symmetry incomplete! Need more tattoo!” Maybe some poppies ☺️ Also a speedo picture so we can see the glory of Tora’s tattooed God-bod. Pretty Please!!! Poppy is right, Tora in that relaxed, casual outfit does seem like a new side of him. I’m gonna need that panel of Tora asking if she’s waiting for someone. His lighthearted smile is so swoon worthy and he’s not even using the killer dimples 😍 He took her bag and opened the door for her. Such a gentleman! And telling her “I’m all yours tonight” *faints* “Taser says yes.” 😂 I love how Tora, who has to be constantly alert to a possible attack, doesn’t feel the least bit threatened by Poppy with a taser. And she teases him with it 🤣 I’m also noticing how much more aware of safety Poppy is becoming. Closing the balcony door, taking a moment to confirm the security tower is empty, getting a taser. She even mentions how she didn’t feel the need for one until recently. All Tora’s safety advice is getting through. Annoying him with the taser 🤣 I’d do it too! He called her “damn fine art” 😏 there’s that original Tora pickup line Poppy asked for 😉 This cityscape is another example of damn fine art, Lily! Gorgeous!!! Did Poppy actually taser him when she called him a pervert?! 🤣 Tora with braids! That is what I will dream of tonight 😉 that last panel, where she reaches for his hair reminds me of the stair scene. I’m curious how he’ll react this time 🤔 For me having someone play with my hair is super relaxing. That kind of comforting touch, kinda like Poppy with the hand holding on the balcony seems like just what Tora needs.

I dreamt of that moment since the begining. Poppy making braids to him. I bet the legend comes from Asura Bride. I saw so much hint in that episod about this. But that might be only my imagination. Tora sitting on the floor really tugged at my heart. It reminded me of a comment on last weeks episode about getting used to sleeping on the floor and feeling uncomfortable when sleeping on a bed again. Tora has a couch but chose to sit on the floor with his back against the wall. The fact that he felt more comfortable on the floor is heartbreaking because it takes me back to little Tora in that “cage”. He’s used to dull places and hard surfaces, it’s time he had some bright and soft in his life. Poppy isn’t stupid, she knows Tora had something to do with Trevor quitting. Tora works in the mafia and the threat of someone using a weapon against him is ever present in his mind. Hell he even shot four people just hours before but he knows she’s not really threatening him with it. I noticed how she mentions, she didn’t think to get one until recently, and it made me think of all the safety advice he’s been giving her. It’s getting through and she’s taking extra precautions, first he told her not to go to Ares Street alone and she kept the cab driver with her (most of the time), then there was shutting the balcony and now we see her taking note of the lack of security guard and she got her self a teaser. Annoying him with the taser 🤣 not gonna lie I’d probably do it too🤗 Seeing Tora with only three out of four limbs tattooed is messing with my brain. That one Bare Leg sticks out like a sore thumb and I hope he gets something tattooed there because my OCD keeps yelling, “Alert! Symmetry unbalanced! Hope we get to see a scene someday that may be replicates the banner image into the story, maybe another date night😏☺️ The flashback, the part where he says the comment about her telling him to go slower, followed by the buzz, the tires screech, Tora’s cursing and Poppy calling him pervert… DID SHE ACTUALLY TASER HIM THAT TIME?🤣🤣🤣 Talking about not getting in trouble with the minor… Means he is thinking about getting “into trouble”with Poppy, secret garden comes to life😉 Viking Tora, is going to be in my dreams tonight😏😆I too really want to see Tora in braids! The way she reaches for his hair reminds me of the stairs scene. I’m very curious to see how he reacts to that kind of touch this time. Thinking of how relaxing it feels to have someone play with my hair, I’m thinking that’s just what Tora needs, simple human contact. My heart totally fell into my butt when Poppy pulled out the taser. I was so afraid Tora was going to shut down and build up walls again. Instead he starts nagging her about how she should have had it the whole time. Of course you need some form of self protection, you're going out with a big guy you don't know very well in the middle of the night! Just to say the work you do Lily is awesome, I like the depth in the episodes, the attention to details... and this one was absolutely representative of that! Sooo could we see a metaphor of Tora and Poppy relationship when he ask her if she is sure to be willing to go to a dark and isolated place alongside him? And the hell she says she'll go though making sure this time that she is more prepared (hello taser 🤗)! Could it be a beautiful foreshadowing of their relation ship ?! (Say yes say yes !!) Just reread for the 9th time or some such and what hit me fresh this morning is the last few panels. It’s like chibi/noseless Poppy and Tora for six full panels, but when Poppy kneels down to ask Tora about braids, it’s back to full detail again with Poppy’s big, shimmery eyes and hair and smile. I can totally see it being Lily wanting to just round out the chapter with a beautiful image, but I can’t help but feel it’s a little bit of Tora’s POV: this beautiful, courageous, tender woman with literal stars in her eyes and the night sky behind her kneels down in front of him and asks to touch his hair, and I think Tora probably has the wind totally totally knocked out of him. I wouldn’t be surprised if the first panel of next chapter is a Tora POV of Poppy’s gorgeous face with the stars in the background, the same way we saw Tora from Poppy’s POV at the end of ep28/beginning of 29. I mean they’ve known each other for like 2 weeks tops and Poppy has already made cute snacks for Tora that show how much she listens when he talks, teases him without fear or derision, but when she does touch him it’s with gentleness Tora isn’t used to, and now she’s kissed him, said she wants to spend time with him as is, and constantly makes it clear she values him, is interested, and will show him all the best parts of herself - she’ll dress up for him, show him her art, make him food, hint at the steel backbone she has that she hides from other people... I mean I bet, whether he teases her about the braids or not, Tora is gonna have his breath taken away the second he looks up at Bobby’s face.

I gotta say, the taser was brilliant. I'm sure Tora could disarm just about anybody putting him in danger, but he wants Poppy to feel safe. Even though she literally accidentally pulls the trigger (I've done the same, it's frightening 😂) and has never owned or used something for self defense, I live that Tora still let's her keep that control (even tho holy shit girl those are loud as hell especially in close and confined quarters and the person you are pretending to threaten is driving the vehicle you yourself are inside of). -Probably one of my fave episodes to date! I’ll add myself to the thousands of fans drooling over Zaddy Tora. I love me a tall, thic man that can dress and you can tell he smells good, like I just know he does. -And to see him carry that strawberry scrunchie (is that how you spell it?) is just so endearing. -Loved loved Poppy coming thru with her taser like “I’m equipped, let’s ride!” And I will continue to stan. -Tora and his innuendos, talking about “women usually don’t like it when I go sleep” let that have been me and I would’ve been flustered and LUSTING. This chapter was so sweet! Exactly what Tora, and us, needed after last week tense chapter. How cute to see Tora always mindful of what he wears when he's out with Poppy. He's opening so much to her and always testing her, see how far she will accept him. And Poppy is solid as rock, always rolling with the punches. First time writing a comment on any Patreon haha, but I had to just point out (or maybe I'm just reading into it too much): I love how the clothes Tora wears at their meetings kind of signifies how their relationship is going, in a way. The only reason I think this is an intentional progression is because of Poppy's pointed comment about it feeling like she's "seeing a new side of him" seeing his leg tattoos. Even at his previous meetings at Alice's place, for instance, he wears a cap and long pants/long-sleeved shirts and makes a huge fuss about keeping his hat on and managing his "bad hair day." Now he's even willing to just wear shorts and shirts that expose more of his tattoos, and approach her with his hair not tied up (or WITH her strawberry hair tie!), and will even let her touch his hair. I feel like it's a statement to how much more open he is not just in their relationship but in comparison to the relationships he has with others. Or I'm reading too much into this lol. I also appreciate how considerate he's being by asking her if she should scratch the idea since they'd be alone. But it's also sad because it kind of feels like a pointed stab at himself for not being somebody he thinks people should normally trust. It felt like a small reference back to when he asked himself if he was warning her against dangerous people or warning her against himself. There are a bunch more comments and I haven't read all of them, so I apologize if this has been already said or if I'm just reading too much into it, but it seemed like fun to jump into this discussion ><

No witty analysis today since I'm late to the party, but I just want to say that I absolutely love Poppy's character. I love how she simply asks for a date, making it so casual and not awkward in any way, that kind of confidence is so sexy and alluring. The fact that she knows Trevor quit because of Tora let us think that she also knows he is in the mafia, she is smarter than everybody gives her credit for. Tora is trying to warn her multiple times, but she already read between the lines ("do you think I'm twelve?"). She is emotional intelligent as well and quite capable to see the troubled man behind the thug appearance, which makes her treat him like a normal guy. I think these intimacies: her food, her teasing, her touching him without fear, asking him favors without money - all of which Tora does not experiment with other people, are like a drug to him. Needs them more, wants them more, he is not able to deny her anything. Hopefully he will let her braid his hair, maybe they will kiss again, a moment at which my heart will implode and if I'm not back next week you'll know that I have died a happy death. Thank you Lily, for all your hard work!

Ahh...When Tora said, "I'm all yours tonight...and sounds like it could be fun" and the way Poppy gave him the sweetest smile back. 😭 Regina's peak is so beautiful...a mini escape. I really love seeing Tora relaxed around Poppy...I still think about the market scene when Poppy is on the phone with Mr. Lam and Tora is scratching his back while about to drink the juice in the store lol 💖 Love their banter and when they make each other smile 💖 I noticed every time Tora texts, he types in lower case letters, and even in one of the SG episodes at the hot springs, they finally noticed it wasn't Tora that wrote the note for them to meet somewhere because the 'T' in his name was capitalized. Can we talk abouth how Tora look so sad when he saw the rice tiger? He is always so serious, but I swear sometime he look like a little kid ^^. Almost like he never really had the chance to be playfull and innocent like this, so now he's catching up on that and is letting himself be since Poppy let him be himself with no jugement at all.

I want Poppy to tell Tora she has never had sex but since they’ve begun talking he is very much on her mind and now “IT” is on her mind, but she is scared. I would love Tora to respond that he hasn’t felt comfortable to get close to many women and he feels something for Poppy he has never felt and they don’t need to rush....but they can do some other things......and then later maybe a mountain retreat away for a couple of nights where he has her alone alone again all to himself and they open up some about their childhoods to each other......and maybe Tora tell Poppy being alone with her is really ALL he wants to do like ever.

I was just thinking how Poppy had a straight laced guy who didn’t value what she had to offer. Her innocence, and sweet displays of affection with with the bento box. Then we see that juxtaposed against a professional gangster who has loose women throwing themselves at him but doesn’t seem to have any real experience with receiving affection and care and he is just hungry to bask in Poppy’s wholesomeness and tenderness. They seem to be polar opposites but their deficiencies are creating covalent bonds between them. ***Also, another random musing, it’s funny that they have met several times now and Poppy hasn’t offered to give Tora back his hoodie nor has Mr. Possessive asked for it!!!***

So I have a theory. I couldn't wait until the Thursday sneak peek. Soooooo I zoomed into the cover art, I was actually thinking about how much MORE Lily has improved her artwork and it just hit me! Lol I think Tora is going to kiss Poppy this time 😍. Lily made that a while ago and she sometimes changes Poppy's outfit so I'm gonna ignore the outfits and just base my theory off the scenery. I love reading everyone’s analyzing comments, but have never posted one of my own, but I noticed a subtle detail after re-reading the episode have a dozen times. After Torah’s interaction with Vince, he is sitting on the hard ground, with his back to the wall, his knees up with no shoes on. Maybe it’s just because he’s in the “comfort” of his own home, but sit on the floor when there’s a couch right next to him? My theory is that the mind games played by Vincent mess with Tora’s head and he reverts back to feeling like the abused child he was growing up. Because he went against Vincent’s orders, he is subconsciously punishing himself the way Vince used to when Tora would “misbehave” as a boy. By locking him in a barred cell of some sort, shoeless and incredibly uncomfortable. And in his subconscious, Tora reverts to this form of banishment because he finds comfort in the normalcy of his own abuse. Boy I hope that makes since 😅

Okay, super random but this is my 3rd time rereading episode 36 and I noticed something on the floor in two scenes as Tora turns on the tv and is waking into the bathroom. Can SOMEBODY please tell me what I’m looking at on the floor of those scenes almost looks like a magazine with a picture of a body? Idk what it is even in the slightest, and I can’t wrap my head around any other idea because I’m so stuck on seeing what I said lol HALP
