I saw that some of you are wanting to know Cordy's pronouns, so I thought I'd clarify - Cordy is a woman, physically, but you can call her a man, a woman, whatever, she doesn't care. To me, she's a she/her, just for ease of reference . If anyone is interested, my inspiration for Cordy comes from Rain Dove, an absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and inspirational gender-nonconforming model. Gil is officially a creep. I’m super curious/confused by Cordelia. Looks like there’s boobs but the hands and face strike me as very masculine. Seems pretty perfect for Quincey though, possibly more distant than he would like. 99.9% sure that’s Tora behind her but I’m going to be super suspicious of Quincey’s intentions if it’s not Tora. Seems like Tora’s go-to annoyed stance-the arms crossed over his chest. I can’t wait to see what Quincey actually told him about the dinner plans. Just as I wonder how my heart will go on without my favorite ship, you find a way to make me fall in love with something new every time. You are a gifted storyteller, Lily. There was so much energy in this episode it actually made me uncomfortable both in good and bad ways. I was withholding judgment on Gil but this one sealed it for me. Creep Level: ADVANCED I think he already found the notebook on Poppy’s desk previously. He bought in this identical blank notebook was a test of her reaction. He has no intention of returning the actual notebook. He kept waiting for her to panic but since she’s never seen it before he couldn't get a read on her. Whether Gil understands what’s in it or not remains to be seen. Maybe he’s involved in the mafia or more likely he’s just looking for a salacious story to sell and keep his business afloat. Either way Poppy is in the eye of the storm and has no idea. Poppy thinking about her dad and how good people always leave was heartbreaking. I also noticed her verbiage and tone change slightly each time she thinks over the decision about Tora. She seems resolved and in agreement with his decision at first. His affiliations are too dangerous and “this is best for both of us.” Now her saying “if this is what Tora wants I’ll respect his decision” feels almost like she’s faltering. And I’m screaming at my phone because this is in no way, shape, or form what Tora wants! He doesn’t see another option. Quincey looks like he didn’t just follow Tora to Regina’s Peak. He follows him to the gym too. He is absolutely lickable. Geeezz 🥴 Now why two crests?🤔 Lily is the master of surprise so one can never be sure but given that Quincey seemed pretty pleased with his “master plan”, I’m going on the assumption that it’s Tora standing behind her and I’m fucking dying inside ☺️😖🥰🤪 And talk about a surprise guest... HELLO CORDELIA!!!! I’m also uncomfortable with just how much I’m gushing over these characters. Poppy is literally engulfed in BDE in the last panel 🤤

So a very far fetched theory I have is that Gyu and Inspector Lane might be siblings? Gyu mentions that Tora was declining his sister’s calls, and Tora declines Lane’s call when he’s with poppy. Theory time 🙃: What if.... 1. Goliath has a grand plan that somehow Tora's not been able to decipher. 2. Why did Goliath specifically called Tora to save him???? Why not his clan men? I think Tora's gonna know this was all Quincey's plan, and that's partly why his arms are crossed (in addition to being jealous)? My guess is at some point, Poppy is going to tell Tora she was trying to honor his wishes, but she needs a favor involving Quincey. I don't know what Gil's motives are, but once Tora finds out how shady Gil is, he's going to be keeping a closer eye.  The part where Poppy compares Tora leaving to her dad leaving, aww. I feel like Tora doesn't realize the extent of how much he might mean to Poppy, even though they've only known each other for a short amount of time.

So I was re-reading and I’m thinking Cordelia may have almost hit Poppy on her way to the restaurant. She says “sorry about just now” and that she’s “not normally such a reckless driver”. I am a sucker for a well-written plot! And this story delivers big time! It doesn’t matter it ends in a cliffhanger, it’s part of the thrill of it. First of all, the fandom established Gil is shady and creepy and up to no good. Ain’t that a surprise? When a few ep back he was all supportive of Poppy and called her a star and so on. A few questions arise as to how come he gave Poppy a job, her being straight out from university, with no other experience whatsoever, except sheer enthusiasm? And she holds a pretty important job Editor/Assistant Manager and was given in charge of an important proposal with Mr. Lam. I guess we can agree that a character does not have to be painted in a single color and there is always something deeper behind the surface. (except Vincent, he is pure evil, hate his guts, lol). I wonder what is Gil’s backstory and I’m sure we will find out soon enough as the plot thickens. Secondly, how sweet is Poppy tearing up at the thought of parting ways with Tora and calling him „something nice in your life”? Poor thing, my heart breaks for her. She lost so much from such a young age (her mom, her dad), clung to a toxic relationship out of sheer habit (because for her it’s best to be with someone than be alone, right? Even if that person is no good for you?) and when finally she got to feel comfortable around Tora she had to let him go and respect his wishes. That shows maturity, but also vulnerability to the point of lacking self-confidence. Every time she feels emotional, she picks herself up again, by reverting to logical arguments and motivating herself to „stay strong” and go on. This self-care and motivation feels to me like utter loneliness. She doesn’t confide in Erdene or in her grandma all her struggles, the same way Tora does not confide in anybody his own thoughts, feeling alone in his own world. Thirdly I love Cordelia’s character. Strong woman, needing no one, badass, calling the son of a mafia boss „blondie”, up for mischief and partaking in his plans. That was the highlight of this episode for me. Also, I’ve seen you Lily playing with us, making us all believe Quincey is gay, a sneak preview of that scene where Cordelia looks more masculine, well played my lady, well played. Chapeau bas! I cannot wait to see more of Quincey and of Cordy, they hold so many mysteries and I can just tell we’re in for further surprises. And lastly, Poppy looking absolutely gorgeous!. Seems only fitting for her to be set up with Tora on a blind something-not-a-date-but-still-awkward-as-one. Any doubts that Tora is the one behind her??? Nope, not at all. That being said, Lily I hope you get some rest and enjoy your family. We’ll be here, waiting, chewing our nails in anticipation :)

Okay y’all. I had to sleep on this one and read a few times because there’s a TON to explore here. And hello Cordelia 👀👀...I have a LOT to say, but we’ll get there. Strap on your tin foil hats and stay hydrated...Let’s dive in, shall we? Gil, my man- do you own a razor?🪒🪒 Because you need to pick a side- either you’re gonna grow that chin hair out or you need to shave it. Because the teenage cabbage patch look ain’t working for ya. 🤣🤣 But I digress. Clearly boss man Gil is testing the waters with Poppy- seeing if she’ll react about the black notebook (which appears to be a decoy to get a ruse from Poppy). 🧐🧐 It would seem he suspects Poppy has read the notebook and I think we can glean from his suspicious behavior that he’s read the contents himself. And if he has read the notebook, this could mean serious bad news bears for Poppy if/when Gil discovers her connection to Tora and/or Quincey. Coupling that with conversations Poppy has had with Erdene about “being small and cute” to get away with things, that could definitely be misconstrued down the line. YIKES. 😬😬 Jacob- child...you being “bullied” into cleaning up every week serves you right for making comments about Poppy’s weight. 😤😤 And the scheming look on Poppy’s face while she’s plotting with Erdene? Priceless. Those two together are TROUBLE and I love it! 😈😈 Also, we keep focusing on that stack of pastel notebooks...something is up with that. I zoomed in on every single panel with notebooks/office supplies because I trust nothing at this point when it comes to that notebook. 🧐🧐 Couldn’t find anything, but I have a feeling this will come into play much later. That stack with the yellow binders looked suspicious, but the angle didn’t give me much. So most likely, Gil still has the notebook.  Jesus...more waterworks this episode? Lily, ma’am, you are a sadist drinking my tears.☕☕ Poppy reminiscing about Tora and feeling sad that it ended so soon? Way to pick at her core hurt of emotional abandonment. 😭😭 And now we at least know Momma Wilkes left of her own accord and probably left Poppy with a lot of feelings of inadequacy. It’s just really hard to process something like that as a child, given that the adult’s motives for leaving could be many. No wonder Poppy hangs on to unworthy jerks like Julri- ending something, even when it’s for the best, is a blueprint of pain. 😔😔 But lawdy- the reflection Poppy has here- she’s processing through how sad she feels AND understands the need for things to end between her and Tora.  🙌🙌 *I’m not going to cry, I’m not going to cry* WELP. I failed. 😭😭😭🤧🤧🤧 I know I sure as hell didn’t have that kind of emotional maturity at 21. All hail our woke Queen Poppy! 👏👏👏 Okay, but I wanna know what Poppy’s excuse was for contacting Quincey- maybe the hair clip she left at his apartment? I guess we’ll never know because Quincey is too busy playing yenta… 🎶“Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match...find me a find, catch me a catch…”🎶 bwhwhaha, Quincey you meddler you! 🤣🤣 LAWD IN HEAVEN ABOVE...Those abs...that pelvic V...those back dimples… the ARMS.🥵🥵🥵 Quincey, sweetheart, why have you been hiding all of that?! And homeboy got a second crest tattoo on his arm?! I AM DYING OVER HERE, OKAY?! *faints*🥴🥴 Alright y’all...remember the part where I said hold off until you see more with Quincey? THIS is why. Even at this moment, we don’t know who his bedmate is here (and yes, I know we find out later, but bear with me in the context of this scene). Sure, we’ve got strong, muscular features...Also, that hair style- OOF. Yes please🥵🥵....but that doesn’t mean anything. What we do know from this scene is that Quincey is far more attached than Cordy. Seems like our little Q is rather lonely 😩😩 and Cordy is more free-spirited, not wanting to be tied down perhaps? I guess we’ll see how this pans out. But I’m tellin’ y’all now. Suspend your suspicions and wait until we learn more [Edit: I wrote this part before Lily updated her post, but I still feel it’s relevant, so leaving it in 🥰🥰]. What I do know is Cordy is gorgeous and I believe we may indeed be at our quota for amazingly good looking characters in this comic. You can’t keep doing this to my loins, Lily! Not. Fair. 🥵🥵😍😍 Speaking of amazingly good looking characters- HELLO POPPY. Hot. Dayum. 😍😍😍 Our girl looks amazing in red! Also, I see you with that professional growth honey. Your personal style is coming right along and you’re learning new kicks. I’m here for it! 🙌🙌🙌 So why do I feel like Cordy damn near ran over Poppy in the parking lot of this restaurant?! And really, Pops, you’re gonna compare a motorcycle to a scooter?! So Gil may have the notebook after all??! geez I still don't understand why he is acting so weird. my heart was racing when he was looking at Poppy. someone mentioned that this webtoon could be a thriller and I agree. the tension was great and I hope, since the mafia is envolved in this story, that we will have more of that kind of thrill. It gives the story so much depth and sensations. Poppy is more hurt by their separation than I thought she would be and it is even more sad that it remind her of some past trauma. the fact that she keeps saying it is Tora's decision though, make me believe she wished they had continue seeing each other even if she is aware of his background and the danger of it. She naturally wanted to see him more. After their dinner before, it seems she was having a hard time thinking that she will have to choose again between him and the "right thing to do", but the girl looks like she already has choose his side. in terms of feelings at least. I still thing she is not in love yet, but she is quite attached to him. I so want to know about Quincey's plan! Also I have a theory that if maybe Gil use the notebook and when Tora know about it he will totally feel betrayed by Poppy thinking she knew it all along. Some drama ahead.

At some point Poppy went through her notes and separated the research paper from everything else, she's got the page that Tora had handy. Maybe she took out the pages from the notebook that had evidence and left the rest of it, and that's what Gil found. Cordelia why you gotta be so cold to my baby Quincey? It seems like they've got a causal thing going on but he's a little more invested. Also at the end there, poor Poppy standing in the valley of the giants 😂 Poppy called Cordelia's motorcycle a BEAST of a machine, the same way that Jacob called Tora a beast of a man. Then Poppy says she rides a baby scooter. Which got my pervy brain thinking, Poppy rides a baby scooter and (eventually) a beast of a man and Cordelia rides a beast of a motorcycle and also our sweet little bean Quincey (I won't call him a baby, but yeah.) Prediction time: it's Tora behind dinner guest #4's door. He's pissed at Quincey and possibly curious as to why Poppy's there, but if he's been behind her for a while, (like Quincey said) he had the chance to leave without her knowing but wanted to stay. I think when Poppy turns around and sees him she'll hug him and completely disarm him again. I hope Quincey had the forethought to get a booth and not a table so that Tora and Poppy are sitting side by side. I have a feeling Cordy stayed because they wanted to watch Tora squirm. Sorry if I repeated anyone else's ideas/thoughts I haven't been able to read all of them.

I’m excited Cordy is (please correct me if I identify them incorrectly) non binary . I think to my knowledge Cordy is one of the first characters I’ve read who has identified as such. I think its important to maybe not make this the most important detail of the character though. I’m curious about their place in the story as a person and their connection with Poppy. I think it would be awesome if Tora and Cordy have a mutual tough guy respect for each other.

My theory is that poppy has the pages from the notebook but just doesn't know what the list of names means so trying to figure this out. In chapter 30 when gil says he helped himself to the reports on her desk. She says good thing i got them sorted before leaving the office yesterday. But that was the same day erdene gave poppy her branded bag to use. So i think the notes are in that bag. In chapter 32 the first picture shows what looks like that bag in a basket near her bed. Tora couldn't find the notebook because he was looking for an actual book and her old bag that he saw the notebook in first. And not looking in the right bag and not looking for loose papers from the notebook. So gil may have had the blank notebook only and testing poppy out in this new chapter to see if she knows about the papers missing in the notebook maybe. Just my theory. I just love how much mystery there is behind the notebook and love coming up with my own theories.

Ok, considering that is Tora behind Poppy, opinions about his body language back there? He's crossing arms, probably kind of pissed? Also, crossing arms across the chest is a classic gesture of defensiveness. "This defensiveness usually manifests as discomfort, uneasiness, shyness or insecurity." (googled the meaning of crossed arms according to psychology). There's a lot of observations on this, like: - A person who’s waiting for someone and is feeling awkward at the same time might do this gesture. - In a group, the person who doesn’t feel confident is usually the one who has his arms crossed. - When someone suddenly hears a piece of bad news, they instantly cross their arms as if to symbolically ‘protect themselves’ from the bad news. - You’ll also observe this gesture when a person feels offended. Defense is a natural reaction to an offense. - If the person is feeling extremely defensive and insecure, the arms-crossed gesture is accompanied by hands tightly gripping the biceps. (doesn't this feels like the case for Tora?) - Sometimes a person, while feeling defensive, tries to give the impression that ‘everything’s cool’. - The typical defensive position also signifies a submissive attitude. - FINALLY: We don’t cross our arms when we’re feeling good, having fun, are interested or excited. If we’re ‘closing up’ ourselves then there has to be some reason behind it. * Please leave your thoughts too, I'm hella confused as to what to think!!!*

I loved all of this chapter, “shady Gil”, “gorgeous Cordy”, but there’s something that really kept my attention and I’d like to share: how sad and emotive Poppy was while she was thinking about Tora’s goodbye (beautiful panel). I’m totally here for the romance (I like the mystery, to talk about the theories, but I really love romance), and anyone who sometime in their life has fallen in love at first sight and had a chance to live this romance maybe can confirm what I think. When you have a soul’s encounter, the energy and impression is so strong that it’s like time doesn’t exist. I’ve observed it for Poppy and Tora since chapter one, when the time stops while he sees Poppy for the first time… that has touched his soul, and Poppy, even being a little afraid, couldn’t diverge her eyes from him, like that energy that suppress reason: “he’s scary, but your heart says that you’ve known him since forever”. After a rare and strong encounter like that, you can rationalize about that romance, that love at first sight… “oh, I’ve fallen in love when he saved me to fall from the three” or any other occasion that you decide to set as “the start of that love affair”. But Poppy’s and Tora’s hearts knew each other since the first time! Because of this, for me is totally acceptable that Poppy is lot sadder for saying goodbye to Tora than breaking up with Julri, a strong passion hasn’t anything to do with how long you do know that person, it’s totally inexplicable and overpowers all reason and common sense. And loosing this rare and strong bound is like the sadness and mouring of losing you loved ones, because your heart loved that person for the fist time with the same intensity you’d love him for the rest of your life (no time, no space). This is how I read Midnight Poppy Land, I was so happy when Tora confess to himself that Poppy looked like an angel the first time he saw her, it was intense, and totally irractional, and this feeling made them gravitate towards each other without thinking too much. Sorry about this long musings, but I thought it was a small but very significative scene, very important to understand the nature of Poppy and Tora’s bound.

Theory: It’s clear that Gil is a shady character, which makes me think Giant Goldfish is a legit business being used as a money- laundering front by Balthuman’s rival. (It wouldn’t be Balthuman owned or Quincey would have been publishing with them already.) They know about the notebook and Poppy having been at the site where Goliath disappeared, and Gil was testing her to see if this was a lead to pursue. Although she was clearly oblivious, she’s not out of the woods yet, as I am sure they are going to continue to search to see if she has the notebook but just doesn’t realize it. Also, it’s not clear if they know about her connection to Tora and Quincey, two high-rankers in Balthuman’s organization, but once they find out, this info, along with the missing notebook, is going to end up putting Poppy dead center in this mafia war.

Okay, so I'm a new MPL fan and patron... I've read the series on webtoons 3 times since Tuesday (slightly obsessed...), noticing new little details each time, but one thing that still baffles me is Poppy's reaction to seeing Cordy in the restaurant. "It's you!" Did they actually cross paths somewhere and I'm being completely oblivious? I haven't been able to find another scene with then both anywhere. If it's there, please tell me where to look, because this has been itching my brain for days. Thanks!
