AHHH I DUNNO WHAT TO EVEN SAY. LIKE, as always i loved the episode but like i really felt Tora's anxiety and just that rush of tension after he admitted he's in the mafia ... the fact that Quincey tried to play it off and "cover for him" (to me), was hurtful to Poppy bc it seemed like Tora lied to her and just distanced himself from her bc he didn't actually have feelings... idk, so that's why poppy was stoic and didn't want to go outside with Tora bc she was still processing and feeling hurt. Poor baby tiger, he was trying so hard through out dinner. Really hope that him and Poppy can talk it out in the next episode. He pulls on my heart every time he shows a new side of his vulnerability

Poppy isn’t stupid. Even though she may act dumb to get herself out of what she knows can be a bad situation, that’s all she’s doing: acting. So she knows, or knew, that Tora was always part of something dangerous. When tora said he had to cut ties, she knew it wasn’t up to him to do so, it was merely because of the dangers that lurk around him. So by Quincey saying how tora is just a bodyguard and is such a social butterfly with LOTS of friends, poppy feels as if he never felt “ forced” (her words) to distance himself from others, which is what he did with her, and how it hurts her feelings She genuinely believed it was something he had to do, and that’s why they couldn’t see each other. But by finding otherwise, she’s hurt because she feels that he just didn’t want to be around her, when she thought they might actually have some connection. I think tora asking her to talk outside, he wanted to clear things up. He wanted to tell her the truth. She really does mean a lot and he didn’t want to cut things off. Quincess tried so hard to play matchmaker but he didn’t realize that he may have screwed things up a little more. 😭 I how the next episode is tora talking about how much she actually means to him and that he doesn’t want to put her in danger. The truth shall set you free 🙌🏼

I’ve been in a weird headspace all day so I’ll try and be normal tonight and not post a dissertation on MPL 😅 But as always this episode has put me through a rollercoaster of emotions. Absolutely cracking up at that ad, and even though I can’t lie to save my own mother, I want to download that game 😂 Then my heart damn near broke with Tora getting denied by Poppy (which, props to you girl, why should you feel obligated?) And I actually squealed when Poppy went from being pissed at Tora’s treatment of the waitress to that little blush after he said “please”?? Your words didn’t fall on deaf ears back at your apartment after dinner, girl! He’s listening 🥰 And finally Quincey and Poppy’s duel tears when Tora collapses?? Yeah, Squealing like the little girl. LOVING this turn of events. Loving everything! As I always do. Gonna go reread this 3 more times and let the story fill my brain. Because, shocker, this chapter has a million little details that are turning my brain into blissful mush 🤩😍👏

I was so proud of Poppy for turning Tora down when he demanded she go outside to talk. You know that must have been hard for her. She is sweet but not a doormat, not even for a gorgeous man. 3. And Tora! It squeezed my heart when apologized and grabbed Poppy’s hand. When he said, ‘Kay, I melted. He’s such a stereotypical crabby ‘man-child” when he’s sick - having a meltdown one minute and needing comfort the next. ❤️ I loved so much more about this episode but I’m going to go read it a few more times and just process.

I think Poppy felt sad hearing Quincey say Tora was not in the mafia. She in a way made her peace knowing he works for an illegal organization and respected that by staying away from him. It's like, why he pushed her away then? Now it'll be even harder for Tora to tell her the truth. My big boy fainting???? Bobby...sorry I was being an ass to you? Can he be more adorable????? Okay, I know there was a lot going on but can we talk about the part when Quincey said Tora doesn’t drink? The way he changed the subject before Quincey could finish talking, I get the feeling that there’s more to the story. Maybe it was linked to how Vincent “trained” him as a kid... or maybe one of his his friends got hurt because of alcohol abuse when he was a teen.... or maybe he really just can’t hold his alcohol 😅 in which case, I applaud him for his unabashed honesty once again.

Sorry I’m late y’all! Have to record a song tomorrow and it has SO MANY WORDS and I kept forgetting all of them so I had to practice And OPE Poppy has Quincey-spit on her face. Poor dear. Hello I would like to collect all my theorizing from the last week and put it in a paper shredder please. 😁🙃😅 I appreciate that Quincey has such a gale-force spit that Tora’s grungy man-flu mane flutters like a Pantene commercial and Cordy is so startled she phase-shifts. Ok so Quincey is covering really well here. He might be illiterate in room-reading but leave it to a novelist to be able to sell a half-truth in a pinch. Buuuut....ooooh honey do I want to know what Tora was thinking in that reaction panel. I can’t quite tell if he’s dumbfounded, relieved....a little sad? Could also just be flu-fog. Poor man looks like he’s unclear on his middle name right now. Poppy’s dialogue seems the tiniest bit off to me. I wonder if she’s playing along? Just to smooth things over? Lily/Poppy bolding and italicizing “forced to keep his distance” seems....pointed. Or maybe...oh she could be thinking Tora lies about being forced to stay away and was just stringing her along.... Oh Poor Tora baby. Anyone else notice how through all of this Poppy is not making eye contact with Tora...at all? Now Tora does look increasingly desperate to connect. It’s a notable contrast from every earlier episode when Poppy’s willingness to look boldly and directly at Tora (literally and figuratively) is remarkable. Meanwhile next to none of the people in Tora’s clan life will meet his eye. ......yeah, ok, that convinced me: I think she’s not looking at Tora because she doesn’t believe Quincey’s coverup. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. What’s worse? A man not able to be with you because he’s in the mafia, or a man who makes up a mafia tie as a lame-as-hell excuse to break up with you? Yikes. (Also I know it’s an ad but it’s cute to see a little slice-of-life featuring our favorite groupchat....even if I am a little sad to see Quince mock Tora with the intro that implies Tora doesn’t have a good grasp on reality...wow ok I hurt my own feelings there...) Outside? Maybe? Resolution? Conflict? Tension??? Coming clean?? Oh. Oh.... OH. Wow. Poppy, good for you. But also ow/wow/ow again. Again, I think Poppy believes Tora over Quincey. But she could definitely just be hurt and think Tora is a lying jerk. Maybe she’s also asserting that regardless, his earlier behavior was absolutely unacceptable and ordering her out into the parking lot like a disobedient dog is not the way to resolve anything. I’m proud of her even if it hurt to read. Boundaries are good girl. OMG MY HEART IS GOING TO EXPLODE! I don’t even know if it’s sadness or happiness yet. Also, I’d like to apologize in advance for the long post. Quincey, having the same reaction as all of us when we read the end of the last episode. And though I hate that he’s lying to Poppy by telling her that Tora’s not in the mafia, I have to give him credit for at least trying to help out by *sort of* covering for him. Quincey went super overboard though 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t think Poppy belived him at all. Calling Tora a “social butterfly” LOL. I’m not sure how to feel when Tora asks Poppy to step outside. She might be saying no because she’s embarrassed about the entire situation, Tora might think that she’s nervous to be alone with him after the mafia confession. Quincey, not being able to read the room probably thinks that Poppy doesn’t like Tora back and that his plan to get them together isn’t working. Also, jeez Cordy, stop picking on Tora while he’s down! I feel like she was probably just trying to get everyone to drink to lighten the mood and encourage romantic feelings, but no need to threaten his toughness. I had to laugh at Tora’s aggressive order for iced water though.. and then his “please” afterthought. Tora always the gentleman. And sweet Poppy, always thinking about Tora’s feelings and worrying about him. Everyone expects Tora to be a badass at all times, it’s so hard to see him down. Oh and swoon, Tora you sweetheart you can’t even stay angry with her for an entire episode- was that like 30 minutes and you’re already apologizing to Poppy. Ugh and Poppy tearing up making me feel all kinds of things, she’s so worried about him. And the hand holding! Like it’s his lifeline. Clearly Cordelia saw the entire thing between Poppy and Tora. She sees what we’re all seeing as readers and she knows what’s up. I had to laugh when she tells Quincey that she’ll explain it to him later. Like a kid waiting to be told about “adult things” hahaha. Lastly... Poppy driving Tora’s car? Where are they gonna take him? Poppy’s house? Quincey’s place? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. But so goooooooood. Lilydusk outdoing herself yet again, driving us all crazy until next week ❤️❤️❤️

The fact that he was able to be HONEST af with poppy probably made him feel a bit better mentally. BUUUTTTTTTTT we have quincess b stirring the pot and blurring the truth yet AGAIN. When someone has to cover up who they truly are and live with webs of lies it takes a toll on the body and mind. It’s exhausting and it’s not fair to Tora to live that way for 26 + years. We know Poppy makes him feel comfortable. We know poppy is the key to freedom, and that is why he collapsed. That turmoil he continuously in thrown into mentally is dizzying and overwhelming. The TRUTH will set you free! And Poppy is smart enough to have known he was involved in dangerous work...I truly believe she wouldn't have even batted an eye. Ok so yay for Poppy for putting up boundaries with Tora when she didn't want to go outside to talk with him and didn't give in when questioned and told  (not asked) to go outside for the second time. Tora was not happy about how Quince talked of his "social life" that doesn't actually exist because of what Tora has said to Poppy before about his friends group and how it's not that many and he doesn't want her to think that he lied to her because when he had said that he was honest to her. As soon as he wakes up from his faint makes sure its Bobby, then immediately apologizes for being an ass. Not gonna lie, I was expecting this chapter to go in a completely different direction. I really like how this chapter turned out because Tora revealing that he's in the mafia to Poppy can now be addressed later in the story and in a more fitting setting. But she's not as clueless as she portrays herself at times. Thinking back to the time Tora caught her from that tree and he said he was a "celebrity." She plays along with the situation knowing better than to ask further questions. I think she knows deep down that he's involved in some kind of illegal stuff, but doesn't want to think or go deeper into it. I'm excited to see where this story goes from here on!! Great chapter as always!!!

Okay. So much to take in this episode with Tora's attitude. I feel like there has to be something we're missing. Quincy and Cordelia DEFINITELY had a conversation about Big Bro Tora about his relationship with Bobby. I think Quincy loves Tora and wanted to see what was actually going on with the two of them (no doubt, Tora would never be honest with Quincy about it all) and wants to see Tora happy. Poor Tora was pleading to go outside with Poppy. I think he just wanted a moment alone with her to really find out why she was there. Even though QBear already told him he didn't seem fully satisfied with the answer and situation. When Tora fell over my heart sank and I'm sure Poppy's did too. They tried their best all night to act distant towards each other... Tora trying not to look her way at the dinner table... Poppy declining to go outside with him... But all that changed when he hit the floor. Poppy jumped out of her seat just like her heart did. Poppy's tears and him holding her hand so tightly just melted my heart. When I said in the preview # 2 post that "something’s about to go down," I didn’t expect it would be a feverish Tora on the floor! 😱😱😱 We know the tiger is at the peak of physical strength. 🐯😎 Methinks what exacerbated the high fever were the shock of seeing Poppy again (too soon he reckons), a bit of jealousy thanks to Cordy, the unsavoury words that were exchanged on what could have been a happy reunion and more misunderstandings between him and his Bobby. 😰😰 When he asked to speak to Poppy outside, I also gasped when she refused. 🤭😱 I am not surprised though - aside from Tora being a jerk in the beginning, I guess she was still struggling from all of that unprocessed emotions from their goodbye in Regina’s Peak.😭😤😳 Perhaps Poppy didn’t realise how much Tora distancing himself affected her. Unfortunately, Quincess B didn’t help Tora’s case when he (hilariously) described our boy as a “social butterfly.” 🤔 Side note: LOL'd at Q's spit take and Cordy’s reaction. 😂 When he said “please," we can see Poppy’s face softened. 😳 But I imagine she found Quincey’s explanation about the mafia (points for the ad 👏) vis-a-vis Tora’s actions confusing AF - maybe Quincey wiping her face was blessing as it covered her reaction from Tora. TBF, Q wasn’t aware of our heroes’ hair braiding, hamster wrangling, shoe holding, heartfelt hugging, tearjerking birthday date. 😭😭😭 Its good though that Tora eventually apologised and we also see a very concerned Poppy when he succumbed to his colds. No doubt a reconciliation is on its way; 🤞🤞🤞 most likely in Quincey's condo, not sure if Tora wants Poppy to see his place (EHEM, will it lead to SG # 74 becoming canon? 🔥 We can only pray to the MPL goddess 🙏 ). Well, they have to survive Q’s driving first. 😰😰😰 Muehehehe. Bonus: Cordy kiss for the Quincess B. 😘 Now I am really interested on how these two met - perhaps a special SG? 🔥🔥🔥 Also, Gyu and his concerned for the mobile phone - how many has Tora destroyed?😂 Thank you again Lilydusk and Team! First off, praises to Lily- OMG, You are amazing! ( I will keep saying it even after it becomes cliche!). Tora is really a big, soft teddy! I was analyzing the panels after ‘ I am in the mafia!’ And there’s such a big discrepancy between the shirt, his gaze and his words. Almost as if the shirt is his self- a silly child doing whatever he wants (with the right woman, perhaps!), his gaze belongs to the rebel teenager who won’t show his weakness and who feels unwanted, and his words- are his reality, a reality he is ashamed of. He lets his guard down with Poppy- he holds on to her like his life depends on it, and I am going to savor her being his savior and driving him home. On that note, I enjoy that Poppy is not the damsel in distress type of girl. On a more positive note, the spiting scene was so funny- I burst out laughing, and my 3yo son was adamant to scroll through all the panels, to see what’s so funny lol What is Quincey up to now? What did he need to confirm? That Pops is the one Tora likes? Given how he covered him with Mafia 42, I take it he is not too proud of being part of the clan either.

Lily! Your subtle use of touch, specifically hand holding, as a plot narrative is exquisite. I love it as a symbol of connection and comfort between Tora and Poppy. Such a soft touch (pun intended) to story telling is so often underrated and unnoticed. For Poppy, she seeks physical contact when experiencing extreme emotions, (brushing hair away from Tora’s face on the steps while chasing Mr. Lam, hugging Tora in the store out of happiness). When she and Tora were talking on her balcony, she was musing about the stress of her night trying to find Mr. Lam and how she was grateful Tora let her “borrow” his hand for a moment so she could have human contact. It is a natural behavior to her given how she was raised and who she is as a caretaker. At the same time that night, Tora confirms that he has never held another’s hand before, but in his mind, he realizes that holding Poppy’s hand feels like the most natural thing in the world. Remember, Tora was raised to be a “dog who obeys” by Vincent, so there was no affection, softness or care given to him. There was no hand holding when he was sick or scared, no hugs or pats on the back when he did well. It was calculated treatment to break and then remold him, which I also suspect alcohol lead to some horrific lessons for our damaged tiger boy. What Vincent did not count on was the others in Tora’s life that would fill those gaps and instill within him a sense of humanity, his own son included. Tora has a very small world of people he can trust, but even those relationships do not appear to manifest acts of affection and softness (but I am so HERE for the bromance). Fast forward to now, and in a vulnerable state, he reaches out and seeks that natural connection with Poppy again. Not only to make amends for his behavior, but also because he is ill and wants to feel better. Poppy represents everything in his life that could be “better.” Oh and Lily - I see you setting us up for some alone time with Poppy and Tora while Cordy and our beloved Quincess go to “the usual spot.” Please let it be something like a cat lounge or ice cream parlor. Some place unexpected, a bit ridiculous, and that shows us a softer, more playful side of Quindelia. Everything about those two gives me LIFE. Thank you Lily for the gift of this story and the heart and creativity you bleed into it every week. I am nothing but humble gratefulness.

Is Cordy really available? I’m looking forward to learning more about both of them. I don’t believe Poppy bought that mafia game excuse but what else was there to say? Way to think on your feet, Quincess. We already know Poppy’s game of playing dumb while secretly plotting her next move. Cordy didn’t seem phased at all. Not sure if that’s because she believed Quincey but I feel like being a sorta lawyer she wouldn’t buy that excuse so easily. Also, makes me wonder if there are any secrets hiding in that “sorta” answer she gave Poppy about her profession in the last episode. And what’s this about “tell you more later”? 🤔 You have my curiosity, Cordelia. My poor baby. He’s burning up. Someone take his clothes off and get him into a nice cool bath STAT 🛁👀 Between being sick and the emotional rollercoaster he just rode it’s not shocking he collapsed. I’m of two minds on Poppy’s reaction. We know Poppy is more aware than she presents herself to be and she knows how to play along. Tora has never lied to her and he’s admitted Quincey was a baby thug too. I’m wondering if her saying why she thought he was forced to distance himself was her way of explaining what she actually understands about his situation and the way Quincey reacted made her think, Quincey isn’t aware of Tora’s situation or how lonely Tora appears to be. Making her feel sad for Tora whose friend doesn’t even understand how closed off Tora has to be. If this is the case, I think Tora mistook her shut down as her buying what Quincey says and wanting to set things straight outside. If this was the case I think she refused because he was being an ass and she didn’t want to go with him. The other possibility is that what Quincey told Poppy dropped her back into old insecurities and hurt feelings caused by Julri. He made her unable to trust he judgement and creel like she wasn’t good enough to be seen with him or meet his friends. I think Tora kinda picked up on that too which is why his face becomes more anxious as Quincey talks and that’s why he wanted to go outside. Tora could see her shutting down and didn’t want her to feel that way again. I believe she was struggling to trust herself on who she thought was telling the truth so she refused to go because Julri would have told her she was being dramatic or something in a situation like that and Poppy didn’t want to be in that position. Either way, I think Tora’s milking the cold as a way to get them to leave the restaurant. When he peek up at her while laying on the floor, I got the impression he was gushing her reaction as if determining whether she’d dropped that shield she’d put up enough that he’d have the chance to get through to her. He’s definitely sick but I think he fell over to make everyone panic and want to take him home. At home, he has more control of the situation and, without Cordy there, Tora can get Quincey to help set things straight. Based on Quincey’s reaction, I don’t think Cordy actually knows Quincey’s connection to TBO or Tora doesn’t know if she does and that’s why Tora didn’t correct Quincey in front of Cordy. I think Cordy sees more than Quincey. She tells him the situation isn’t as bad as he thinks. I think she observed the reactions more accurately than he did and sees the underlying interest and connection between Tora and Poppy.

Guys, just please, reread the end of chapter 29.... Of course she knows!!!!! And about that " why is she crying" question: really...!? If you were in her shoes and the man you loved just fell down like that on the floor wouldn't you have panicked just a little?...she feels A LOT for him... I think it is a normal reaction... Plus she was just confirmed about the horrible world he's living in so, yeah... I'm sure she feels like her heart is squized with pain and sorrow... I myself was about to cry when I saw the panel... So.... 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have to say this episode took me on a real emotional rollercoaster. At first, I was laughing to tears in the first half, all that rambling about the game and Tora’s reactions when Quincess buried him under all the lies... But then...the second half hit me. And after re-reading the episode I cannot help it but feel deeply sad for Tora. First of all, he is sick and he came to dinner anyway, not denying his friend. Secondly, he finds himself put in a position of distrust – he said his goodbyes, now they mean jack shit if he meets Poppy again, his wish is not respected by Quincey, who meddles with Poppy and signs blindly a contract just to shut him up, on top of that there is Cordelia who pushes all his buttons until he snaps. Let’s add Poppy who completely ignores him through the whole dinner, flirting (unknowingly?) with Cordelia. Now the scene is set. He let the truth out. This should feel like a huge burden falling off his shoulders. And what happens? Quincey dumps on Poppy a mountain of lies. We can see how Tora’s expression changes from angry to perplexed, to dumbfounded, maybe even scared not only at what Quincey is saying but more at what Poppy said, that she assumed he was involved in dangerous business and this is why he is forced to keep a distance from people. I think this is the moment Tora realizes that Poppy knew more than she showed him, that she knew all along the truth he tried to hide. Not being able to put up more of Quincey’s rant, he wants to have a private discussion with Poppy. To explain himself maybe? To apologize? It matters not, because he came out as aggressive towards her and she stands her own and shuts him down. I understand her, she needs time to think, maybe she even considers Quincey’s words (although Poppy is smarter than that and I think she will not believe Quincey, but for the moment maybe she questions her own judgment as she did with Julri). But for Tora, being rejected by her... you can see the hurt on his face after she said no (also see Cordelia looking up at Tora’s face, while Poppy bows her head – the woman is reading him like a book). Quincey gasps in full surprise that somebody so small and harmless looking as Poppy dared to say no to the big intimidating thug. Two observations: 1. Tora cannot lie to save his life in a damn game. 2. Tora does not drink alcohol at all. Why cannot he lie??? He was as honest as he could with Poppy, he is in general honest with everybody and when there is a truth that cannot be told, he plays the intimidating thug card, deadly stares, silence, and body language, and half-truths. Maybe I am reaching, but what kind of ”education” did Vincent offer him as a child? What kind of training, what kind of mental manipulation did he endure so that he is not able to tell a damn lie? Vincent needs the most loyal dog, that cannot and will not misbehave, and one that cannot lie to his face. So maybe he drilled this into Tora? I will not deny that he has a natural honest side of himself, but after so many years in the clan, one could think he learned to lie to cover himself at least. Secondly – alcohol. He does not like to lose control of the situation and this is exactly what alcohol is doing. In order for his instincts to be sharp, for his reactions in dangerous situations to be fast, for controlling what he shares with people - alcohol is out of the question. This broke my heart once more when he replied defiantly to Cordelia (who pushed him over the edge with the alcohol remark) – ”Yeah, I can’t hold my alcohol, ya got a problem with that?” I have seen this remark as a surrender, Poppy did not care to listen to him so why bother anymore? Might as well go down the rabbit hole and let her think I’m the asshole she thinks I am. Only that her disappointed and stern look made him soften up towards the waitress by saying please. We can see the small blush after that on Poppy’s cheeks, so the girl heard him alright, she is just processing the whole dinner events. The cherry on the cake? Thump. The best thing that happened to Tora that night. Because there she is by his side, caring for him, asking for him, stroking his forehead, and worrying about him. Suddenly she is Bobby again and Tora apologizes as he should have done and ... my heart cannot take it anymore, because the hand squeeze pierced straight into my romantic soul. Now I just wish it’s next Friday already because I am dying to know where they will end up and who is going to drive the car. Do we know if Poppy can drive? Because riding a scooter and driving a car are two wholly different things. Also, where does she take him? To her place? To Quincey’s place or to Tora’s apartment? If it is Tora’s, what would she think when she will see the cagey space where Tora lives? If she cannot drive and neither does Quincey, does she call Jacob again to help her? Oh, we shall wait and see what the Goddess Lilydusk will bestow upon us. Thank you for a wonderfully long and meaningful episode, Lily!

Just a small, subtle observation that warms my heart ☺️ Poppy was the one that grabbed onto Tora’s hand after he fell down. If you see the sequence of events, her hand is on his forehand facing down in one panel, then her hand is facing up and holding his hand in the next. Tora’s hand doesn’t move at all. It’s Poppy who chooses to turn her wrist so that she can hold Tora’s hand to comfort him. Probably because she either consciously or subconsciously remembers that Tora likes to hold her hand 🥰🥰

Y’all, I needed some serious sleep to recharge after this one. Lily served up a three course emotional meal for my brain and I needed it firing on all cylinders for this analysis. 🧠🧠 I’m like a kid in a candy store! Well y’all, shall we? Annnd right off the deck, poor Poppy gets spit on AGAIN! 🤣🤣 And that was no princessly spit y’all- Quincey straight blew Tora’s hair away and crossed the fucking table 🌬️💨(and watch how stealthy Cordy is avoiding the crossfire 🤭)! DEAD.💀💀 And he doesn’t remember her name when apologizing? QUINCEY! SIR. 👀 But this sorry explanation he offers for Tora’s behavior- does he really think Poppy is gonna believe this? I’m not so sure (more on this later). 🧐🧐 What I really want to focus on here as Quincey’s spoonfeeding half-truths to Poppy is hers and Tora’s reactions to what is being said. We don’t quite see Poppy’s face yet as she’s asking about Tora not being in the mafia- but boy do we see that little bit of panic set in on Tora’s face. 😬😬 Perhaps he’s regretting being so honest? Maybe squirming because he appears like a liar to Poppy? I really think it’s both- because he knows he shouldn’t be telling her more, but acted impulsively in the moment. And now Quincey is unraveling some of the trust they built over the last two weeks. Tora IS honest, and as we see later, to a fault. That level of honesty can only come from an incredible amount of betrayal. 🥺🥺 I know, because I feel the same way (been there, done that, bought the subscription)- I sometimes open my mouth when it’s unwarranted because I don’t believe in hiding what I think or feel and I loathe people that lie. 🙃🤷‍♀️ But I, just like Tora, learned that there’s consequences to brutal honesty. YIKES. 😬😬 OH BOY. Poppy did catch on- the emphasis on Poppy saying she was under the impression Tora was “forced” to stay away from others means he’s dead meat. And Tora knows it- that wide eyed “ohshitohshitohshit” expression says it all. 👀👀 He’s caught between a rock and a hard place- especially since he knows Poppy constantly feels rejected by others around her. He now looks just like every guy who’s put her down and lied to her. But I think Poppy is a little conflicted here. It seems pretty implausible that she would completely discount every Tora said about the danger of his organization, not to mention all the evidence she's *seen* that points in this direction (Scharch, all of Ares street anyone?). So I'm holding off complete judgement until these two are alone to talk.  Sidebar to Quincey- my man, you’re layin’ it on pretty thick there. Social butterfly my ass! 🤣🤣 My girl Pops- her eyes look so disappointed and sad though 🥺😔... we have Tora sweating bullets in the next panel and I don’t think it’s because he’s got a fever y’all. 😰 All this discomfort, man, I was grateful for the app game distraction, even though Quincey’s grasping at straws here and Cordy’s graciously piping in for the save. But notice neither Poppy, nor Tora are entering that conversation. And whatever reason Tora has, clearly he’s not in the mood to talk about it. Nothing like more uncomfortable conversation to rile up our tiger, who embarrassingly barks an order at the waitress. Tora, baby, here, let me take that shovel away from you. ⛏️⛏️ You’re digging yourself in deeper.  Understandably, this pisses Poppy off and I don’t blame her. You can tell a lot about a person by how they interact with wait staff...our boy isn’t putting his best foot forward at all tonight, but I’m glad he finally sees what an ass he’s being. It might be too little, too late for the waitress, but I appreciated that he tried adding on the “please”. QuincessB... So mad...🤣🤣🤣🤣 I absolutely hated that Tora pushed himself so hard. I honestly think what really did it was his worry over what Poppy thought of him. Sigh, he really does need her in his life. I truly believe he missed her and worried over her so much that he became sick. He doesn't seem like the type to get sick often. After reading this chapter a few times I think that Poppy is extra sensitive/nurturing to Tora because of what happened with her dad getting sick. There’s already been parallels made between Tora leaving her like her father (chapter 42) and I think subconsciously she must be so afraid to see another person she cares about feeling so ill. When he fainted it could have brought back some painful memories of her father which might also explain why she was so emotional.

I think Quincey’s extreme spit take reaction to Tora saying he’s in the mafia and his obscure over explanation as to why Tora would say that will just confirm for Poppy that what Tora said is the truth! After all, if it truly was a joke, why would QuincessB react so wildly! 🤔

I’ve been thinking of this episode a lot today and my god, @LilyDusk you are a master of creating complex characters and situations. I was thinking about the past two episodes, what we learned about 4 different people and it’s all so incredibly complex! Thank you again for sharing MPL with all of us, you’re amazing! Ladies and Gentlemen keep your hands,arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times! — Curious, lucky, surprised, defensive, angry, shocked, girl-crushing, protective, wet, confused, betrayed, upset, concerned, relieved, nurse mode, “WildCat Behind the wheel”— 🤪... that’s a lot of feels for our girl Pops! ✨🍓✨ Okay, theory time — Poppy’s going to find out about Tora’s love of strawberries. Maybe on the way home she or Quincy decide to stop to grab supplies and it comes up that meds and beverages need to be strawberry flavored?! It would be a nice segue to the “Strawberry Girl” story or it would drop the hint for Poppy to ask about later in the series. Or maybe when he gets home he requests his strawberry juice 🍓🧃❤️? The thought of sick Tora requesting strawberry juice, in his T-Rex sweater and in desperate need of snuggles from his hamster to feel better?! Please excuse me, my heart is melting... 🍓🦖🐹🐯!

I don’t typically do long winded post, because you all do such a fabulous job analyzing and doing character synopsis, but I felt compelled to add to the dialogue this week because why not 💁🏾‍♀️ 1. Quincey’s reaction is exactly as I expected (minus the spit take lol 😂) Poor Pops, first she had Tora spit the strawberry juice on her and now Quincey’s wine. Does this mean we have another post shower scene coming up??? Because let me tell you, spilled wine is sticky! 😏😏 2. I’ve seen everyone’s interpretation of Poppy’s expression while Quincey brushes off the whole Mafia confession. I personally think she may have thought there was some truth to it because of the tone of words and sad expression after Quincey is done. I’m sure she’s tried of being lied to and manipulated by men and girl, I feel you! For that reason I’m glad she didn’t go talk to him outside. I feel like they both weren’t in a good headspace to have the conversation they need to have. Hoping for a truthful come-to-Jesus moment for them. At this point I think a fully honest conversation about everything they both have been trying to conceal is in order. 3. Tora, Tora, Tora, my sweet child. I truly felt so bad for him in this whole dinner sequence (last chapter and this one). He is just having a shitty night. That man needs a hug, a shower and to be sent to bed. Now that he’s done being an asshat, I hope Poppy takes care of him. Tora you’re not off the hook mister. I am glad in his most vulnerable hour he apologized first before getting into how he was feeling. But I’m hoping he opens up a bit more and explains his frustration and misunderstood anger. Your girl Poppy can handle it! Other quick thoughts, I wish Pops had offered to sit in the backseat with Tora instead of the front seat with Quincey, because I can think of nothing better backseat cuddles. Also I’m hoping Quincey just gets a cab home and Poppy takes Tora to her place. I wonder if Gyu is working in the guard booth, can you imagine his face when he sees Poppy drive up in Tora’s car?!!! 😅 Anyway, thanks Lily, looking forward to next week!!!

I know Poppy was the one to grab onto Tora’s hand but I’m having trouble figuring out which one of them “squeezed”. I imagine the squeeze being Tora in a silent thank you for her holding his hand but that seems like one of those normal reflexive gestures Tora wouldn’t actually be familiar with so I’m second guessing. Lilydusk, your spit takes GIVE ME LIFE! I cracked up at Quincey spitting his wine all over Poppy just like I did when Tora spit his juice on her head (side note: Poor Poppy!). Like, the way the force of it blows Tora’s hair across his face. DEAD ☠️😂 I would have never in a million years been able to guess that that was going to come after that super serious reveal, and I LOVE IT ❤️ That’s one of the many reasons why I love this story so much. I gotta say that I love Poppy’s character. I think a theme of the whole story is how Poppy is underestimated by many people (even myself as a reader, sometimes) but she proves time and time again that she’s no naive little girl. People so often wrongly lump sweetness & innocence together with naivety, but Poppy disproves that stereotype. While Quincey was wiping her face (bless him) she was talking straight to Tora and letting him know that she had figured out more than he thought she had. She also had Quincey thinking she was believing all the BS he was spewing (Again, bless that beautiful Quincess). Also, while he definitely was acting like a jerk and needed to apologize, I think Tora knows that Poppy can handle it and has no problem sticking up for herself. She’s stood her ground with him many times. We talk about how Poppy sees past his hard exterior and sees Tora’s true self, but I think it’s important to note that Tora sees Poppy’s true self too. She isn’t this naive, little wallflower; she’s intelligent, wise, perceptive, sometimes stubborn, and knows how to use people underestimating her to her advantage. I think that’s important in an actual relationship; there’s an ability and desire to see them for who they truly are, not just who the majority of people see. In this ep., I think he was hurt by her not wanting to go outside and talk to him, but I don’t think he was surprised by how she stood her ground and refused him. Our Poppylan Wilkes does what she wants, when she wants, people! (and Tora knows that too). Buttttttt... that’s just my take 🤷🏻‍♀️ Can’t wait for next week! ❤️

I find it interesting that while Tora is unique he also communicates like a lot of men do. Now that he has a cold or flu he goes from indestructible to baby man. What man doesn't do that? My dad pro athlete get a cold..babyman. My ex was a marine..get a cold...baby man..lololol!

Finally re-read chapter 44 and understand why Poppy was looking so hurt when Quincy was “protesting too much” about Tora not being in the mafia. At first I was like why wouldn’t she go talk to him alone, I understand he was being an ass but if I felt for Tora what we think she feels for him I’d give him the respect of a private convo. She is feeling really hurt because she is believing Quincy and probably thinking Tora made up this elaborate scenario to “break-up” rather then saying he wasn’t feeling her anymore. Then Tora with the inability to lie and his emotional intelligence immediately picks up on what she is feel wants to take her outside to set the story straight. Now I just need Tora to make up for all of this by inviting Bobby to a bath in chapter 45, the poor guy is a fall risk and he needs Poppy’s help in the tub....and she can’t get get her clothes wet, also she can’t let him become dehydrated from the fever....wink wink. Bobby has to nurse that boy back to health!

I agree. That’s the same thing I thought when I read it because why else would she be hurt. They said their goodbyes because of his lifestyle and now Quincy says it’s not true he’s a normal guy with a normal job and now Poppy’s like “why did we say goodbye then?”

I do wonder, other than the obvious reason of staying in control, why does Tora not drink. He interrupts Quicy when he’s explaining that Tora doesn’t like how alcohol makes ppl act. Usually, when ppl have that much of an adverse reaction, there’s a good reason and knowing Tora’s troubled pass, I can’t stop but wonder? Does it have to do with his bio family or with Vincent’s being even more of a sadist when he drank? That exchange just jumped out at me...
