But I also wanted to say I love so many of the small details in this: the way Poppy is excited and comfortable/confident in her dress, and also the way that Tora gives her space to hang out with Erdene and let them have their time together. He isn't trying to hover over her constantly and monitor her interactions by being in her personal space (unlike Julri who constantly commented on everything she did). This chapter was so beautifully drawn and I love so many things about it. Thank you for what you do always, Lily! You did such an amazing job as usual💕

Wow! Soooo I'm just gonna say the club concept is 💡 like I legit wanna party there! & that angel?! I felt like I was gonna faint just staring at the background. & Poppy & Tora's outfits are coordinated well! He's edgy and straight badass. Poppy's dress is cutesy with some frills but if she's comfortable enough to trust you/turn around it's straight sexXxy 🤣 I love that sooooo much thought and detail goes into every little piece of these chapters. I'm also happy that these last few chapters sort of mirror the writing form we saw in the beginning. Almost like Poppy is telling us a story that happened long ago. "When you look back at your life you'll see that the dots are all connected ..." "I thought I was the only one who's always running from problems ... but maybe, to a greater or lesser degree so is everyone else-" It really pulls me in when there a bits like that, like she's building up to tell me the most amazing story of her life & how every bit matters and means something. 💕 Thanks so much for your work Lily & team 🤗🤗🤗🤗

ANOTHER EPISODE ANOTHER HOUR OF ME GRINNING LIKE A FOOL (so I know MPL readers are all over the globe but can I just say as a US-based reader, I desperately need this level of endearing during election season? I can feel my blood pressure returning to healthy levels with every panel.) -cracks knuckles- SCREECHES IN FANGIRL It’s sooooooooo cute waaaaaaaaaaaah uwu Ok Lily, yes, MAD props to your background guy this is just -chef’s kiss but in turquoise- It literally looks like a night sky under there. Which is a cool parallel to the last close/romantic scene we had with Pops and Tora. Oh look, AnOtHER fallen angel symbol! Anyone keeping tally? I know we had the smashed cherub statue in Vince’s office not too long ago…. Interesting how Poppy starts out in super warm, red tones during the panels when she’s walking in with Tora, and Tora is more in blue, and then Poppy gets wrapped up in the blue light as she goes in. It’s a really beautiful color contrast/symbolic change, even if it wasn’t intentional. OK ERDENE, I SEE YOU LOOKING LIKE A WHOLE SNAC LIKE WoW -leslie.exe is drooling- What? Who? RIGHT. RIGHT THE STORY. PLOT. THAT. God Poppy is so cute I can’t. Hmmmmm. Pink Hair dude is givin me some fishy vibes. Back to Erdene and Poppy!! YAY! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the way Lily writes the female characters and their friendships is probably my favorite thing about MPL. Especially in a media world in which women and their relationships are so often portrayed as reductive and hierarchical, it’s amazing and fulfilling to find a place where the author not only understands, but can communicate how fucking AMAZING women are - Just to have this open conversation between Dene and Pops and their check-in with one another about their friendship and Poppy’s emotional state is a total dream. Like, it’s funny, it’s open, it’s sassy, it’s authentic, it’s full of the self-awareness and levity and vulnerability and warmth and compassion that are all my favorite hallmarks of femininity. It’s spot-on, down to the teensiest nuances of body language. I will hype this until I die, the end. OK I LOVE THE DRESS. It’s so cute and sweet and SO Poppy. I know we love some of the racier dresses we’ve seen in other non-canon MPL art, but I think those are incongruous with where Poppy is in the canonical story. This makes me happy. She’s fluffy, she’s floral, she’s sweet, she’s just out to enjoy herself. Ok, ok, Pink-Hair Grumpy McGuff??? Imma need you to dial down the shade a tone or six. Don’t look at Poppy in that tone of voice. Is you hitting on Tora and jealous of Poppy? Because you dropped your star sign and I think you need to put the cannon down and quit trying to blow a hole in this ship here bruh. YAY GYU IS GONNA SHOW UP YES. Aw Tora you big lug, you’re just so smitten with her you can’t even process it and I adore it. I have many thoughts about this episode, but first and foremost... -When Erdene says " He looks like one majestic F*ckable stallion"...I felt that on a spiritual level 😂 - Tora ushering Poppy through the crowd safely and then immediately making sure it was safe...*swoon*🥰 Our guy will protect the hamster at all costs. -I don't know Damien the Sagittarius, but I think Mr. Necktatt Glory needs to let us get to know him a little better. Okay, so I’ll take a man size Damien any day wheweeee who am I even attracted to anymore?! Since Lily really stressed the background in this episode I tried to really look at it and it’s like it’s its own character and I feel like it’s saying a lot. Maybe I’m stretching the metaphor too far but I’m running with it because: – Poppy has descended into Tora’s world and it’s dark. It’s overwhelming with music so loud it’s almost unbearable and bodies moving everywhere. So it’s a place that screams lust and pleasure first and foremost. Which explains another side to why Tora is so over the way people look at him. This is a world dominated by the physical and Poppy sees past that. – The Fallen Angel statue is the centerpiece to the club, as that is it’s namesake. It’s also shrouded by so many “branches” for lack of a better word of earth. There are so many layers of earth above the angel. Maybe those represent the conflicts that will arise as the angel tries to break through the the world above? – Which makes me ask: is the angel a metaphor for Poppy or Tora? At first, I assumed Poppy, because that must be what Tora thinks; she’s a fallen angel who has dirtied herself with his world. But now, after seeing the angel and the protective stance of its wings, that just screamed Tora to me. An angel in the rough, lost and forgotten with wings closing itself off to the world. Maybe, maybe not 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, unpopular opinion probably, but when Poppy voiced that she wants time to herself, I violently changed what I wanted for Poppy and Tora. I wanted ROMANCE I wanted SMUT I wanted ACTION. but whew I have literally spoken the same thing in my life and I want Poppy to figure herself out before doing anything else now and will cheer her wholeheartedly from the sidelines while this slow burn happens. Also, the fact that she pointed out to Erdene how Tora looks to other people said so much about Poppy’s character to me. I love how she’s so observant. Gah, I love it. I’ll be rereading all week. Thank you Lily.

I also loved the hints of bioluminescent animals in the aquarium, beings who create light when it doesn't otherwise exist. Seems fitting. Erdene is a BAMF as always. Ugh, I loved this episode!! I mean, let’s be real, I love them all, but there’s so much going on here and a chance to take a deeper dive into the cave metaphor = happy me! 😈😈😈😈 Tora is still leading Poppy by the hand in a forward motion into the cave, meaning there will be forward movement in their relationship. While most of us think of caves as dark, dank underground places full of bats and stalagmites, this cave is bathed in cool and calming colors - those various shades of blues, teals, and lavenders are soothing and not smothering or claustrophobic. However, when they are first moving into the cave, it’s crowded and loud, almost as if they’re moving through some sort of fog or gate in order to get to the more open and water-based area beyond it. NERD ALERT: according to Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, “a cave [is] where people have been imprisoned from childhood, but NOT from birth. These prisoners are chained so that their legs and necks are fixed, forcing them to gaze at the wall in front of them and not to look around at the cave, each other, or themselves (emphasis mine).” Sound familiar? Also note that the bodies that Tora and Poppy have to move through are just black silhouettes. We could see them as other prisoners of the cave as well, or some sort of guardians that Tora and Poppy have to move through to get to the fallen angel/archangel. /NERD ALERT Once Tora leads Poppy through the noise and pressure of the crowd deeper into the cave, which becomes more tranquil and fluid, she leaves him and he walks away to stand alone at the bar ((SOB!!💔)). He's still the prisoner of the cave for now, but that will change for him. Other women, who are a stark contrast to Poppy, hesitate to approach him, because he himself is the Fallen Angel, clad in black. Ugh, so freaking sexy. 🖤🖤🖤🖤 Poppy, Erdene, and Jacob (and Pinky, lols) are in shades of pink, burgundy, and mauve which are harmonious with the blues of the cave, but contrast sharply with Tora’s head to toe black. And while Poppy and her friends are in rosy colors, Damien (Pinky) is half and half - burgundy and black. To me, it seems like he's an odd link between Tora and Poppy, as his later shared gawking at Poppy shows. While he crudely comments on Poppy’s “rack,” he’s just as pulled towards her light as Tora is - and he’s also the one who notices Tora’s fascination with Poppy (while still assuming that Tora isn’t straight). There’s a lot to unpack with that... I’ll shut up now. I was going to go into Tora in his guardian mode and how parts of the cave look like a galaxy (my weird brain went immediately to the stars and galaxy showing another dimension that their relationship is moving into) and Poppy’s comment about feeling “trapped, suffocated and lost” and her finding a “sense of emotional freedom” while searching for her missing bits of self-esteem, AND POPPY LOOKING LIKE A BEACON OF LIGHT AND ALL THE WATER AND AND - but I’m sure others will dissect it brilliantly. 💖💖💖

Ooo I'm very curious to know what Tora is thinking. This was another excellent chapter, I really appreciated that segment with Dene and Poppy and I love how supportive they are of each other. I was a bit worried that Erdene was going to be another obstacle with Tora and Poppy, but she was just being cautious which makes sense. In the end, it's clear that she trusts Poppy to make her own decisions and it's been nice to see Poppy slowly gain more confidence and agency as the series progresses! Also, the backgrounds were STUNNING it made me realize that I kind of miss going to clubs, even though I would always complain when we were actually allowed into them (I'm based in the US). Part of me is dying to have them together but it also feels realistic that they went over to their friends to get warmed up to the atmosphere a bit. So excited for these next few weeks!!

Can I just say I really appreciate the fact that after teasing her outfit with the coat for a while and then giving all of the angles and many panels of what it looks like, I just love that! Sometimes when hiding an outfit for suspense, it gets drawn out for way too long and then we get like two panels with a full body view, and then it’s like chest up for the remainder of them wearing the outfit. I understand with a weekly comic it can take way more time to do full body shots and stuff but it can be a bit of a let down especially if the outfit is teased for chapters worth and only drawn in front view for two panels. I love how you literally gave a turn and showed the sexy back of the dress! It may seem like my expectations are kind of high for something most people don’t care about, but this just an example of how I truly feel you’re a great artist and story teller! I find it hard to believe that Tora doesn't know Damian's name. Tora is super observant and if this guy has been "following him around" since 8th grade then they definitely know each other. And someone on FB mentioned that Tora tends to give people he's close to nicknames, hence Pinky... or Ronzo (which Gyu hates), or Bobby.... Also, Tora would not bring guys he didn't trust to protect the space with Poppy in it.  I think Damian was annoyed cause he wanted to party and Tora told him to do go work. It's nice to see more of Tora's work crew though, I found it hard to believe Gyu did all the work for Tora. It also makes me wonder if Damian and that crew is involved in Tora trying to take down Balthuman. Like maybe they did something similar to putting rats in the restaurant like Gyu did. I didn't pay attention to Tora's background crew in the earlier chapters so didn't realize these guys had already made an appearance. I'm really looking forward to seeing Gyu cause we haven't seen him in a while. and out of the guys in this comic, I could see myself being friends with him. Poppy looked cute and sexy in her own way. Erdene had a sort of sophisticated and sexy vibe to her. And Jacob looked nice too.

Loved this one!! Lily, short episode, where ma’am?!! The story and art were beautiful as always 💕 I especially enjoyed seeing Tora interact with his men more as well as see the almost celebrity status he has amongst this world. We know he keeps to himself and isn’t a “social butterfly” but I just thought that was interesting to see everyone greeting him and even saying clear the way. I also loved the continued development of Poppy and Erdene’s relationship. I had been wondering how long Pops would keep it all to herself, so I’m glad she shared some aspects about Tora to Erdene, and have her back off a bit on but while being supportive to the time/space Pops needs. AND at least for me, it takes absolutely nothing away from the story Lilydusk is giving us. I’m always pleasantly surprised and fulfilled by what happens in her storyline. Hi Lily! Only now I’ve had the time to write about the last episode. I totally agree with all the “fallen angel” analysis, me and Millenial pink were talking about the deep blue symbolism, sometimes a color of melancoly and coldness, other times a very spiritual color (has to do with the third eye in Hinduism, the color of the frontal chakra, that has to do with the deep sight). Anyways, the art is gorgeous, from the aquarium to the galaxy projections on the walls. I loved it! It was so sensible the way you show how Poppy and Tora are in that relationship stage that you are so in love, but believe the other is totally out of reach, in certain ways idealizing the person love. Poppy thinks that a guy who could choose anybody (man, woman, any living breathing being) would never chose her!!! I don’t blame her, I used to be just like Poppy and she really thinks and acts like I would, she needs some emotional validation, so, I think Tora needs to confess first, and so, she will believe. For now, the fact he’s kissed her, and after took some distance, can be read as a non so strong interest (we know he loves her, she doesn’t know). Tora, on his side, doesn’t even consider being extremely handsome some value… as he hates what he has to do, and aren’t proud of his lifestyle, he thinks he doesn’t deserve a pure girl like Poppy, sometimes the feeling is stronger than his will, but he loves her so much that he’s willing to let her be so she don’t get in danger. He knows that it will be painful when he tells her all the implications of being involved with him, and when she enters his world willingly she is pushing his boundaries. She needs him confess first, he needs to know that she accepts his love and loves him back besides who he is. I love how my dear Quincess is cunning… Tells Poppy to wear her highest hill so she stands out and sometimes needs Tora’s help to escorts her. And dramatically tells Erdene to wear sneakers. I see you Queen B… you want to make both your angels happy, and by meeting a certain single artist design goddess at work, why not introduce her to a certain sweet nerd. I know, some people don’t see Erdene and Gyu as a good match, but, Erdene is tired of investing on the same type or man, sometimes life surprises us when we take a chance on someone whose we wouldn’t look twice, or that isn’t our type (personal experience! I took a chance in a nerd TI and he’s my lovely boyfriend!). And a dominant woman as Erdene could use the sweet energy of a gentler guy, it can be very heartwarming. About the dress, I loved it, in fact I’d wear it (I have a crochet one that looks a lot with the second version you’ve shared). I’ve imagined it would be a different tone of pink, but I liked this too, and considering the light on the cave, a light pink as we saw last week would look more magenta with the blue light, so, it’s ok if outside the night club it looks lighter again. I really think that all shades of pink, coral, orange, beige, red, turquoise, gold are on Poppy’s pallete and she looks gorgeous in all of them. It’d made me laugh so hard how Tora puts unwanted nicknames on people (reminds me of Hak of Akatsuki no Yona and I just looooooveee him!!!), Damien was annoyed, but to me Tora only do this for people he likes. So, don’t be so mad at your sempai Damien!!! The guy have some guts, talking about Poppy’s breasts in front of Tora, he is a daredevil boy… With all set, I just can’t wait for the next episode!!!

I have a maybe non spoiler question. What kind of music does Poppy like? I'll never say that i don't like one entire genre of music because I have music from EVERY genre on my playlist with absolutely no thought for flow or consistency BUT generally I am not a huge trance WUB WUB WUB fan and so after an hour or so in a club like that i get tired and want to go somewhere quiet to chill. Now put me in a dance club with "hip swaying" stuff or shit i can sing a long to and i'll be there until they're flashing the lights and playing Hanukah Mattata to clear us out. I couldn’t help but notice that Tora puts his hand on top of his glass while at the bar... alone. Like it’s second nature. Its something I do that became a habit after being in the military and going to a lot of events where I was one of a few, if not the only female. It makes me wonder what happened to our boy to make him that vigilant, especially since he doesn’t drink. I know he’s mafia, but men don’t seem to worry about roofies.
