We know Tora has some "skills" in his line of work but the range of observation he has is just pristine and that mental capacity... I find very attractive aside from the obvious. We just love to see it! Mind your drinks out there my lovely peeps of all kinds. Also as someone who is not Poppy-sized, the picking up scene brought back a few memories because I hate being picked up. Some have tried and failed and its not a great feeling but the times where you don't expect it and then it happens flawlessly is very exhilarating and I had butterflies for Poppy. With the stressful chaos in the US right now, I’m so happy to have this amazing episode to take my mind off of the election, at least for a little while. This is an amazing episode that sees Tora morph from fallen angel - I peeped that halo around him as he’s sulking - into full guardian (dark) angel mode with Poppy. The cave metaphor is still in play, but now the beacon of light that is Poppy has started to pull Tora away from the darkness and into a little world of their own where they only have eyes for one another. Ladies and gents, get yourselves someone who looks at you as intensely as Tora is looking at Poppy. 🔥🔥🔥 However, the darkness still clings to Tora as he’s dressed head to toe in dark colors, which contrast directly with Poppy’s own rosy glow - so we still have quite a ways to go yet. But he’ll get there. Trust. Tora’s protective instincts are crazy strong and he unleashes them full force onto Poppy, demonstrating just how much she means to him and how much he needs to protect her. This boy has fallen hard and he’s fallen fast. The sexual tension between them is palpable and Poppy’s sass and quick wit continues to charm him. 🎆🎆🎆 I LOVE the panel where they’re looking from their little area by the bar out into the darkness of the cave, as if viewing it and all of its shadows from an area outside of its influence and pull. I also LOVE how comfortable they seem to be with one another, with their shoulders touching and the way they’re mirroring each other. 🧡🧡🧡🧡 When Poppy starts to ask about his past, Tora gets a little uneasy, but he is honest with her and her charm soon reels him back in. Epic flirting continues, and then we see the switch from fallen angel to guardian angel as Tora’s instincts kick in as he immediately sizes up the situation and suspects that Poppy’s drink has been drugged by the two morons - anddddd cut to a panel of the fallen angel, who I also see as a guardian angel by the way its wings wrap around itself the same way Tora’s invisible wings wrap themselves around Poppy. 🧚🧚🧚 My heart...soulmates, much? Next week is going to be sooo good.

The Lift up, the fist bump with crossed fingers behind her back, Erdene going in for the kill, horizontal dancing (can't believe he said that with a straight face lmao) and of course Tora taking the trash out without her realising it (even though I wonder if she really didnt notice, she has profen to be sharp as hell sometimes and only putting on an oblivious facade). The only thing that felt off for me was her way of sitting on the counter. In the first few panels it looked to me like she was sitting in thin air in front of the bar. Let’s talk about this excellent episode! I love all this “falling in love atmosphere” between our lovebirds! I can remember in my life all the times I was in this situation, don’t know if he like me, don’t know if we will date, but can’t keep myself away from him, and feel a totally free bliss only to see him, talk to him… Exactly like when Poppy turns and sees Tora, she’s genuinely happy, we can see in her smile, in her eyes. And Tora acting salty because he has felt ignored was so cute (come give me a hug poor tiger!) They’re so into each other, that immediately the conversation is fluid, flirting interesting. It’s about 20 days and they know each other better than nobody, and I love their little banter that sounds so much like seducing. Tora is so in love that he looks at her as she is the only woman in the universe (in fact, for him she’s the more important one). And like magic, there’s only the two of then in the scene, the others are just shadows , like a scene in Pride and Prejudice(2005) that Lizzy and Darcy are so into each other that all the other pairs dancing vanish and we only see them talking and dancing. This is so “romance is in the air” that they can’t stop smiling, and touching each other. I loved all the sequence when Tora grabs Poppy to sit her on the counter, she is magnificently gorgeous (the dress, the hair, the glow in her eyes), and we see her as he sees. The most they try to act cool like “we’re friends” the more they look like a couple, everybody has already notice, but they think they’re cool… I laughed so hard with Tora’s horizontal dancing comment, because Poppy was totally showing a “not nerd” and “not prude” facade and he just throwed this sexual innuendo in the middle of the chit chat, knowing she would overreact but would be forced to pretend that it was alright to not drop “easy going” personality she was showing. I love this episode so much. It really makes me appreciate Tora and everything he's been through. Lily really is giving us a glimpse into his world. Especially with the conversation between Tora and Poppy. Poppy was straight to the point with her blunt question if he's ever done drugs. And I love that he's honest with her, as always. It makes me wonder what kind of drugs since we know he doesn't drink. It makes me wonder if drugs were a way to help him escape/cope with all the violence and abuse around him. Especially since he said he used to party hard. I bet he really is good at horizontal dancing. Sex and drugs are a great way numb the pain. Tora's probably been with a clan for at least 17 years or more. It's a miracle how resilient he is! I also find the subject alcohol interesting. Tora says he doesn't drink because it tastes disgusting. However back at the restaurant Quincy said something along the lines of he doesn't drink because of the way it makes people. And then Tora cut Quincy off from talking. I'm wondering if Tora really doesn't drink because he was beaten by Vincent while he was drunk or if Quincy was. It could also be the reason Tora ran away from the adoption center.

I'm just thinking about Lily's choice of conflict in this episode with the spiked drink. It's something that isn't related to clan business at all, and something that could have happened at another location. But with it, we see Tora going into that protective/aggressive mode, something Poppy hasn't seen yet. I think it's a brilliant decision on Lily's end to make it over a conflict that is not related to the clan. Perhaps Poppy will start to see what Tora's aggressive side looks like but in the context of her own protection. Which is really just the first glimpse of what his world is like and who he is forced to become for the clan. Super excited to see how it will play out next week!

I just want to take a moment to praise Lily on her intricately woven details in this story and how beautifully she ties it all together. This is all open to interpretation, of course, but once Tora realizes that Poppy’s drink has been spiked and we see the assailants retreating, the scene cuts to the fallen angel before moving on to the two men being intercepted. I see this as a fantastic use of foreshadowing. I only wonder if it will be representative of Tora showing Poppy his darker side with an act of violence or if it will represent Poppy diving deeper into Tora’s world...

I'm sure this has probably been said already but can I just re-emphasize on the level of intimacy between Tora and Poppy this episode?! Other than the playful banter and emotional intimacy, they are so physically comfortable with each other that it is incredibly pure and loving. I love how Poppy's hand lingers on Tora's shoulder for a few moments even after he lifted her to the bartop, and how he pulls on her dress when its flapping.... aaaaaahhh my heart! 🥰🥰🥰Poppy and Tora are definitely like those couples that behave like they've known each other for many lifetimes even much before they actually realize their feelings towards one another I'm so excited to see their relationship develop!! Okay, back to re-reading this episode until Friday 😂😂

I saw this post before I read the episode. Im glad I did because the art form is what caught my eye toward Midnight Poppy Land in the first place. Im a sucker for amazing artwork that can make me feel something from the get go even without dialogue. I love it, I love it, I love it!!!!!!!
