My heart broke a little when she asked if them getting together meant nothing, but I understand why! It’s so cool to see the characters in a story communicate about real things!! Also, the inner monologue that Tora had during the whole thing made my heart melt. His feelings for Poppy are building more and more 🥰 so needless to say, between my heart breaking and melting, I loved this episode!! And I love the style of this (and other) episodes with the inner monologuing between the actions of the scene.

We all needed a cool down, and they needed this talk, and maybe others, but they are moving forward and my heart is so full 😭❤️ So Poppy put the breaks on... which is super mature and emotionally intelligent despite the fact my heart breaks for Tora who is obviously feeling extremely unworthy of this little angel, but I’m super proud of how much growth she has accomplished. And she sees he’s upset. I don’t know about you but I’m glad that doesn’t sway her (to keep going right then. Not in how she feels for him). She’s had enough people pleasing for one relationship 👏 and then he’s so accepting of it 😭❤️ STAN AN UNDERSTANDING MAN. Sure, I just want Poppy to trip and fall on his dick, but then Poppy turns around with a gesture that shows how much she genuinely cares for and is will to accept Tora - a gesture even better than the dicking down we so greatly desire- she wears his freaking ring. At least I think so? I don’t see it on her afterwards but maybe it was a bracelet? Either way the intention is clear and I love thats she’s taking it slow WHILE being open to what they could possibly have. UGH. LOVE. I mean I loved the rest of the episode too. The frog in a pot story is one of my all time favorite analogies, and boy that drives the “slow down” point home. We don’t want their relationship to die. Let’s let the water cool down a bit (plus poppy’s face!? It’s us. Yes 🤣), and Gyu is the absolute cutest, along with the rest of the gang- I can’t wait for more tipsy thug confessions 😂 but the beginning of the chapter? Just.... *melts*. I’m a happy reader tonight 🥰

Heavy breath quietly in anticipation and excitement....read it again in the morning when I wake up because half the time in reading it with one eye open after trying desperately to stay awake 😅 Did he not put the necklace on her with the ring? SQQQQWUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SHE BROUGHT OUT THE CANINES THIS IS NOT A DRILLL OMGOMGOMGOMG 🤯🤯🤯 I feel like this is such a realistic depiction of how this relationship would have to begin, so mad props. They’re both not wanting to be rejected by the other, and both assume rejection already in a sense so as to not get their hopes up. But the level of vulnerability here is so beautiful. Poppy has just found out this dude she sometimes makes out with is in the mafia and she’s still burned from Julri. So a guy like Tora taking interest in her? I can totally see where she’s coming from. And Tora’s just as quick to throw up the walls the minute she flags in her doubt. There’s a slow blooming of trust here that’s mesmerizing and almost sensual. They’re both taking great risks to reveal themselves to the other and it’s so intoxicating to watch. Also, can I say how satisfying it is to see Poppy with that blush as she puts together that Tora and Gyu work together too? And MY GYUBEAR FINALLY ARRIVES I HOPE HE GETS THE BREAK HIS HARDWORKING SELF DESERVES *yeets self a-la-Blue-skidoo style into WEBTOON to give this guy a massage and some lovin* 😛 I can’t wait to see what Tora did with the ring and how my man Brian is gonna come back from that lol

Dying to know what happened in that cut scene. One minute Poppy’s alone with Tora and the next she’s talking to Gyu... On a different note, I love how Poppy let’s Tora know she takes him more seriously than some guy she just wants to get down with. I love that she holds Tora’s hand and asks him questions that shows him she cares about his feelings, and it’s not just about being attracted to him. Also the Tora POV’s are amazing! So glad we get all these insights into his thoughts when they are together. The dam analogy was soo on point. His real emotions and heart are behind that dam and Poppy is going to break through. So I completely understand Poppy's perspective right now. She needs time to heal her scars from piece of shit Julri being in her life. Doing anything physical with Tora may make both of them feel good tonight, but I feel like she cares too much about Tora for him to be a random hookup. I also got out of a toxic relationship early this year (main reason why I got hooked on MPL is the similarities between me and Poppy lol). Even if I had a greek god of guy with me, I don't think I'm in the right mindspace to do anything or get into another relationship. One, its not fair to me, and two, its definitely not fair to the guy. I feel like Poppy knows if she and Tora were to start something, she'd start projecting her insecurities and trauma from her past relationship, and potentially ruin anything with Tora. So I am proud of her for putting the breaks on, and so proud of Tora for realizing that they need to go slow or take a step back and focus on being friends for now (ofc this might change in the next few eps, but this is my perception so far)

Not gunna lie, I was initially disappointed in this episode... UNTIL it got to the dialogue where Poppy talks about putting her energy in the wrong person that leaves invisible scars... it SENT me into an emotional wreck. That episode made me feel like Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 1 when he jumps down the stairs and realizes he can't fly. At first, I was all happy about the smooches and the closeness, then my emotions came crashing down with Tora's internal realization that as much as they want each other they are both not in a place to be able to commit to one another 💔. Brian's comment at the end brought some levity back but my heart is still so crushed for them.

I might be misinterpreting, but I thought the comma in her question indicated that she wanted him to put the ring around his own neck [for her symbolically]? That would explain why we can't see it on her since he could be wearing it (maybe with the chain and ring hidden under his shirt). Also, I loved everything about this whole chapter even though Tora and Poppy's conversation was a bit heartbreaking for me. I think it was great to see though because conversations like these happen all the time in real life, and it would make sense given the circumstances surrounding both of them. I felt this episode so deep tonight especially when poppy talked about her mom leaving, and losing her dad I know all to well what it’s like to lose those whom are so close to your heart such as your parents I just want to hug poppy so big right now, because I know the feeling to well I just lost my mom October 1st and I have never felt so lonely in my life, you experience a great deal of loneliness when your parents are gone, and after one of your folks have passed it feels like part of you died with them, so I truly get where she’s coming from thats a pain you will never be able to truly get over, and I’m sure poppy feels even now that after losing her dad to an illness like I recently lost my mom to illnesses, I’m sure she’s still having a hard time deal with being on her own and processing this ship with tora so I get her hesitation on the matter, it truly is hard to feel loved again when you feel like the only ones who truly loved you are dead and gone, or pretended to care but never did and you feel like you’ll only keep running into the same wall you’ve tried to avoid constantly. POOR POPPY SHE DESERVES THE WORLD, and has a truly wonderfully loving and pure soul💔😞

I felt what poppy was saying so hard. Not as far as romantic relationships go but with familial relationships. It’s very sad when you put so much time and effort into someone you thought was gonna be in your life forever just to have them continuously disappoint you and ultimately betray you when you have already been through so much it makes you more cynical and more keen to putting up walls to protect your heart from further abuse and pain. It’s very much a rock and hard place that no good person should have to be put in. It’s understandable as to why she in a way wanted to come to a clear understanding with tora on what they were doing and that she ultimately wants to take things slow and build a foundation and find herself again without the influence of others. So this chapter made me a little sad (after coming down from my fangirl high over their steamy kissy kiss) because you can see both struggling against their feelings. Poppy is reserved because she's just had her long term boyfriend cheat on her while simultaneously fracturing her self confidence and she probably is still in denial that someone like Tora could ever take her seriously ( flashback to Poppy telling Erdene that people like her just stare at people like him). Meanwhile Tora regards himself as something tainted, he doesn't believe he deserves anything Poppy has to offer. And not to mention, Tora is used to seeing himself as a tool to be used. A guard dog for Vincent, a bodyguard/babysitter for Quincey, a big bro to his fellow thugs for status, a f*ck toy for women who probably used him just as equally for sex, etc.. Which is why he tries to nonchalantly blow off their conversation as nothing more than a transaction while hiding his possible hurt. Because he wants her more than a pastime. He even says in his inner monologue that they're skirting around something, yet the more time they spend together the bigger the pressure grows. They are both playing conservatively while indulging in some of their desire. I just really want them to have a heart to heart because this flirting, albeit exciting, and absolutely thirst quenching for my soul, is going to lead to some angst real soon if they continue to build the walls without letting the other in. Oh my love for this comic knows no bounds! I am ready for this emotional ride. 💜💕

I think I really understand poppy in this chapter bc my relationship with my bf started out the same way. Where there was obvious attraction and we really cared about each other but our fear and trauma from our last relationships made us not want to fully commit. Ok there is just so much to talk about... but let’s talk about the frog story. 🐸 So poppy asks tora if it was difficult to not be able to live his life the way he wanted and he tells her he doesn’t know and then tells her about the frog. So when tora was a kid, he chose the thug life because they gave him some form of comfort. maybe in the from a house, food, and what he thought was family. Vincent made it seem like the life for a little orphan boy. And slowly Vincent would turn up the heat and test tora’s tolerance for pain. Both mental and physical. Then once tora was used to that, he turned up the heat even higher and probably had him inflict pain on other people. But tora was used to the temp of the water so he still stayed. And by the time tora realized he was in too deep, he had metaphorically died on the inside. He was no longer the person he had been when Vincent found him 🥺 Now let’s see it in poppy’s eyes! 🐹 So she says “it’s us, the frog is us!” Ever since poppy got to know tora, she has always felt safe and trusted him at all time because based on her past relationship with little dickhead, tora is he’s a perfect gentleman. He never had her feel uncomfortable and if he ever sensed it, he would stop right away. Just like he does when she told him ”just a minute.” You know how many boys (because men wouldn’t do this) would ignore that? 🙄 but like Tora, never being able to live his life the way he wants, allows her that authority. Or any woman in that matter. Ok so back to the frog 🤣 sorry guys. So poppy is comfortable with tora in the pot with cold water. She slowly starts to develop feelings for tora, sexual and emotional. Sexual because LOOK AT HIM!!! Emotional because she’s seeing that despite his rough edges, he’s such a softy. Especially for her😭 and idk about you guys, but if I’m emotionally connected to someone, the sexual desire sky rockets! So the heat in the pot is hot now! And idk where exactly the part where they die comes in but I have a couple of theories 🤣 so that combustion is due to sexual desires never being fulfilled because she’s scared to commit so eventually she think he’ll find someone better and she lost her chance. or maybe once they dance horizontally, she thinks that’s all there will be to it. ooooor because she had that necklace in mind, she never leaves the pot! That’s what some people do because they are scared of being alone. That shows me that Poppy is a strong and independent woman! And Mr. Introvert talking about commitment issues is just too funny 😂 but it shows how committed he is to her already. But Tora listened and understood her point of view! I think he tried to relax the situation by telling the story about the frog and distract Poppy. The only thing my gutter nymph mind can’t process (because I can only view things from the Lust side) is what kind of pressure he’s referring to. Is it the fact that the more they spend together the harder it will be to end things, because he’s in the mafia? I was confused at first when she gave him a present. I was shocked and thought she wanted to return the ring! But after rereading the panel I was so relieved because she’s not giving it back to him. But what her intentions might be i don’t know 🤷‍♀️ Oh and I’m so glad that Gyu and Poppy finally got the chance to talk and that he’ll be the new security guard 👏👏👏 I’m sure they will become great friends and that Gyu will open up to her about the past! So many things have happened in this episode and now I can go back to bed all satisfied! I predict for the next episode that Poppy is going to burst out into laughter about that gay comment 😂 But than she will start thinking about it and will wonder what it is that makes his friends think that he’s gay.

Tora has been more than kind to Poppy. He always asks if she’s comfortable before touches her, he saves her from getting drugged, saves her from falling off the tree, gave her money when she needed it (when she paid Benjamin, Tora gave her her money back with interest), helped her with Mr. Lam, tried to protect her from his mafia business. To me, Poppy doesn’t seem appreciative. I mean come on, he saves her from getting drugged and what does she do? Paint his nails... 🤦🏽‍♀️ In a way I feel like she’s misleading him because after she said she didn’t want a commitment she then proceeds to hold his hands and wants to wear his ring?? I think that’s sending mixed signals. Also when Erdene first met Tora. Poppy should’ve proudly told her she already knew him and they been friends for a while now. As much as I wanted Poppy and Tora (Pora/Toppy???) to go further (🙏🙏🙏), I can understand her wanting to put the brakes on. I loved Poppy’s inner monologue about how she realized she was running from her problems outside the club when she was initially denied entry and also her conversation with Erdene in the club about emotional freedom and wanting to enjoy being on her own for a while. To me this is all in line with why she pulled the plug. In a way, to plunge ahead with Tora would be repeating the same pattern of running from her problems and not deal with being alone. It’s more than just being careful with a potential new romance. I think she’s trying to break patterns to grow/better herself and ultimately overcome some deeply seeded issues. For Tora and Poppy being alone is more than just not being able to find a romantic partner. Both have been abandoned/orphaned at a young age. Kinda interesting that Poppy is a Pisces (considered the “lost child” of the Zodiac) while Tora is Aries (THE child of the Zodiac). Both are born in the same month, but are on the opposite ends of the Zodiac, (Aries is the first sign while Pisces is the last). It speaks to how they seem to have a lot in common and yet also have a long way to go to reach each other. Thus far, what I like about the club scenes is that you get to see Poppy’s peeps and Tora’s peeps mingle together. It makes me wonder if these two very different circles can come together and be a real source of support for the Poppy/Tora couple down the road and maybe even become something of a family for them. I can see Tora’s thuglets becoming just as loyal to Poppy as they are to Tora. Maybe it’s cause the holidays are around the corner so I got family on the brain, but I started to reminisce a bit about what their future could be, especially around the holidays. After everything is settled with the mob, Tora and Poppy would move in together and host Thanksgiving/Christmas. Their apt will have lots of light and windows will be at normal height cause the days of worrying about bullets coming through the windows are behind him. Erdene, Jacob, Poppy’s Granny, and other friends from her hometown with Tora’s thuglets, Quincey, and Gyu would all gather together at Poppy/Tora’s place to celebrate the holidays. I can totally see Tora smoking a cigarette with Poppy’s Granny on the terrace while wearing one of those ugly Christmas sweaters. I shit you not, I actually googled “ugly Christmas sweaters” the other day and one with T-Rex popped right up. 😂

This episode hurt my heart. As I have mentioned in the past, Tora and Poppy are mirrors for each other. Poppy is able to articulate her past struggles and show what she had learned from them. But those struggles parallel what Tora is going through presently. That line about spending time with the wrong person and the scars it leave is LITERALLY Tora’s life at the moment. And Tora, as an outsider to Poppy’s life, is not only able to recognize and appreciate what Poppy has gone through, but also has a greater understanding and insight into his own personal trauma. Guys, this was the first time I teared up thinking about Tora. OOOOF this episode had everything I wanted to see and more. You made another masterful episode, Lily!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I really felt bad for Tora in this episode because he wanted to continue but for the right reason of him really wanting her. He was deeply upset when she indirectly said she’s not looking for anyone. I’m not upset with Poppy because you do need to give the heart time to heal and her fears are validated. This episode was very bittersweet but I liked how Tora listened to her story of why he got rejected. He will always care about Poppy and even may want her in every way but right now she needs time. Tora is falling fast since he never had anyone to share this feeling like this. It really pained me to see his face after they stopped since it reminded me of liking my friend but in the end we still remained as friends. Tora is ready but Poppy isn’t. I keep going around and around in my head with everything that happened in this episode, but this snippet from a poem by William Blake (please excuse the massive lit nerd here) keeping popping into my head: “Every Night and every Morn Some to Misery are Born. Every Morn and every Night Some are Born to sweet delight. Some are Born to sweet delight, Some are Born to Endless Night.” To me, Tora’s life so far has been an endless night, and while Poppy’s life hasn’t been a sweet delight, she’s had moments of light in her life the way Tora hasn’t. That being said, they’re both dealing with their own miseries at the mo. Poppy is still raw and wounded from her relationship with the epic douchecanoe Julri, and Tora’s first instinct is to throw up walls to protect his very warm and vulnerable center. They’re still learning to trust each other and this episode was a big step forward in that. While Tora’s dammed up emotions and feelings for Poppy are about to roar over her like a flood, she doesn’t know this and needs to be sure that this isn’t just a fling - and that she’s not jumping from a boiling pot directly into a frying pan. Relationships are hard, and the best are built on a solid foundation of communication and trust. Some are born to endless night, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t escape it and move into the light! 🌞🌞🌞🌞

My original reaction to this episode got deleted 😤 So I was so devastated by this episode. Even though they are communicating I think there is a lot of misinterpretation on both sides. Since I know that Poppy likes to play naive, it’s actually hard for me to know when she’s actually being naive. But I think it’s safe to say she has no idea that Tora is seriously interested in her. She’s always seems to be brushing Tora off, not taking his flirting serious, and has made comments about him being out of her league. Self esteem issues are a given lol. I also hope that next episode might be the point where Poppy finally realizes it. Lily did such an amazing job with the art this episode. Tora’s body language absolutely crushed me. When Poppy rejects him you can see how he braces himself, makes himself smaller, and won’t make eye contact with her. He is physically and emotionally withdrawing. You can see how frustrated he is when he says what they’ve been doing doesn’t mean anything in a obviously sarcastic way. He doesn’t know what Poppy wants from him and It almost seems like he’s accusing Poppy of using him. Poppy explains herself but I don’t think it helps. When she says she’s worried about wasting her time and emotions on the “wrong person” and getting hurt, you can see from Tora’s inner monologue that that’s how he views himself. He’s just so full of self-loathing. When Poppy tried to get him to open up in return he can barely speak more than two words and instead tells her metaphorical story. He even assumed she was giving him back his stuff. And then when she asks him to put it on his expression is so full of doubt and skepticism. It’s seems like Poppy was watching him pretty closely and I hope she noticed that even though he was obviously feeling hurt and was being defensive, he still reached out to comfort her. At the end she was looking at Tora across the room and it’s the total opposite of how he was acting in the beginning of this arc (stalking her lol and sulking because she was ignoring him). So if in the next episode the thugs explain why they think Tora to be gay (ignoring women), maybe Poppy will start to put the pieces together and realize that he’s been pursuing her and she’s been dismissing it. They need to get on the same page eventually. Even if doesn’t change their relationship right now and she, it will help with the misunderstandings. This conversation could be interpreted in MANY different ways! 🤔 💭 I completely respect that Poppy has her sensible girl hat on 🧠 🎩 (even if the rest of us would have just jumped at him 🥵), but I also think she’s opening up the doors to letting Tora in. Like I said, this convo could be interpreted in many different ways. Examples: 1. Poppy is insecure and scarred from her previous relationship and therefore pushing away the person that is making her feel things that are real, passionate but alien to her - SCARY! 😦 2. Her saying “this doesn’t change anything” could be inferring that she feels this won’t mean the same to Tora as it does to her. She may be putting up her walls in case all Tora is interested in is her body (obviously not true). Still in line with point two; this situation won’t mean anything unless they’re sober and can talk about how they feel. Poppy may be insecure that Tora is only behaving like this because they are both “buzzed” 🍸. 4. Poppy could be giving the necklace back to Tora, so that when she is ready to move forward and is feeling secure in their mutual feeling, she can ask for it back, and in some way marking herself as his, therefore also giving him the option to accept and choose to be with her or decide to move on and keep what is sentimental to him. We know the sentimental value of this ring weighs heavily on Poppy’s mind. 5. OR it could mean ALL the above! I think the way this episode went was really well done! Though the look on Tora’s face after she stopped it was 🥺😭 poor Tora! I’m hoping that when she talked about being buzzed and it not counting she meant “I like and need the slow pace at which this is developing. Can we keep it that way?” it might be too much to ask to hope for that but I think her “something kinda personal” helped to explain it. I just think she doesn’t want to cheapen their kisses. Tora has done a lot good for Poppy but on the flip side he’s also already said goodbye to her once, was a prick at Gudrun’s and gave her the cold shoulder after she figured out they were mafia. These play into her insecurities. Probably why she crossed her fingers during the fist bump. Don’t get me wrong, Tora is totally worthy of dating poppy but they both need to work on their shit and I think Poppy recognizes that. I see the ring as a kind of commitment to “let’s better ourselves separately but together.” I hope we get a glimpse into what was said during the cut scene and or right after she brought the ring out. She is way more insightful and mature than any real life 21 yr old I’ve known! Now the make out! Everything I wanted! Lily, you did such a good job of depicting the caring and want in their eyes. How can something be hot yet endearing at the same time? I always wonder how my toddler can obsess over the same 2 episodes of Mickey Mouse clubhouse and the I remember how I am with MPL 😅

Both are struggling with their own hurt and insecurities. At times this leads to miscommunication and (minor) misunderstandings and that may be frustrating to watch. I completely understand where poppy is coming from, I understand she doesn't want to jump the gun, especially when there's so much inner turmoil from the last relationship. My theory for a while is that there is a non-traditional love triangle, it's between Poppy, Tora and in place of the third person, it's their insecurities. Poppy is trying to work through hers. Tora is coming to the realization that someone will accept him for who he is. I was proud of both of them for the growth they showed. Poppy is talking through her feelings and she feels comfortable enough with Tora to share them. Tora was presented with a moment to be emotionally honest and instead of completely shutting down and running away, he remained present. We all gush about how emotionally aware Tora is and that he provides a safe outlet for Poppy and validates her feelings, but he isn't as kind to himself. To him, keeping his emotions compartmentalized has been a survival technique. I think Poppy's acceptance will chip away at his self loathing, but it's not her work to do, Tora needs to see himself through the eyes of those that care about him. Anyway, this episode! Those kisses! I love that they don't just progress physically but also emotionally. Thank you for another chapter that makes the next week long and unbearable 😂.

In a fun way, I often get the feeling that many of us read this story more from Tora’s perspective. I mean, we allll want a taste. I’m often surprised by the groups reactions because I tend to identify more with the feelings of the women in our story. I feel for Tora, and I’m glad I took the night to process how I felt. This episode was bittersweet, but I want to say I’m proud of Poppy. For recognizing she’s still healing and being brave enough to pump the breaks on her desires and get her head right. I’m so so proud of her. And I’m grateful that Tora has made her feel safe enough to be reflective, and responsive to her saying not yet. This is a complicated situation and both of them have a lot to think about. Poppy is growing up and needs to know how to be an independent woman and that takes time. Tora doesn’t actually think he has anything to offer her. We know that’s wrong, but it’s going to take time and reflection for him to understand himself like we understand him. If he thinks he’s worthless... that will eat away at a relationship. He has growing to do to. This episode is bittersweet but in the morning I am optimistic.

First I just have to say bravo to Lilydusk for the depth and complexity of her character development. Every episode exceeds expectations, and this week was no exception. 👏 This was a rollercoaster, complete with soaring heights, heart-stopping dips and anxiety-inducing twists. The ride quickly ascends to the highest peak, with the long awaited REAL kiss, immediately followed by the stomach churning drop when Poppy halts the kissing to explain why she’s not ready for more. But then comes the twist, and though we know the ride will continue, we don’t know where it’s going yet. Tora’s struggle with how to respond to Poppy’s flirting, and the way he checks in with her until he is satisfied that she is sober enough to understand what she is saying before he makes a move to kiss her, is typical of him. He is a protector to those he cares about, and was in emotional bodyguard mode. At the same time, he reflects on his own insecurities, and the realization that he is of need of some liquid courage, and drawing strength from a source other than his own internal supply for the first time in his life concerns him. But he has placed Poppy on a very high pedestal; she is his beacon, his embodiment of hope, and he is petrified to find out how she feels about him. In this episode, he is as vulnerable as he has ever been, and the pain and self-loathing he experiences at her perceived rejection seeps off the screen and his absolutely heart-shattering. You just want to reach in and hug him. 💔💔💔 Tora’s inner dialogue is also very telling and provides insights into how he views himself. He uses his self-described status as a fallen angel to justify his use of a vice, and his “poison of choice” of smoking rather than alcohol. It’s ironic that someone who is so focused on caring for his body does something as harmful as smoking, which, it could be argued, he subconsciously uses as a form of self-harm.🤔 And as easy as it to say to Poppy “WTF?! This beautiful, albeit damaged, man is practically handing you his heart on a silver platter and you are unsure?!” But she is also dealing with her own issues due to the abandonment of the two people who were supposed to protect her in life, her parents. She commented at Regina’s Peak that as a child, she was always more comfortable with an adult around, and has the self-awareness to realize that she made a poor choice in partner because of her insecurities and attempts to fill in the empty places in her life. She was badly hurt in her only major romantic relationship, and she wants to know that she is able to trust her own judgment again. Keep in mind it’s only been a matter of days since they met, and as strong as the attraction is between them, they both have damage that will prevent them from completely letting their walls down too quickly. Of course, the irony is that the tough mafia enforcer is willing to let her in so much more easily than she is him, but they are in different places. She is still nursing wounds from her recent heartache and picking up pieces of her self- esteem. He, on the other hand, stumbled across something he never thought he would have- the chance for someone to love him for himself- and is searching desperately for some sign that he is worthy of holding on to her. He reflects on the dam inside him, which we can assume is his feelings for her he is trying to hold back. But the pressure is building up and he’s going to crack, and he recognizes that a burst dam can cause a great deal of damage. And while that frog in the water story was such a perfect analogy. I think it applies to both of them in separately, but not necessarily as a couple. Poppy did not see how much her relationship with Julri hurt her until it was literally thrown in her face. And Tora was just a child, and had no way of knowing that his whole future was being taken away from him until it was too late to get out. Tora sees the world in black and white, all or nothing, and takes her slowing things down as sign that she is telling him no. He immediately jumps to the assumption that she is another person who sees him as having nothing to offer, just a thing to be used, and shuts down defensively. But Poppy lives in shades of gray, and is trying to help him to learn to see this as well. She pulls out his ring and asks him to help her put it on her, a subtle sign of her willingness to maintain their connection without defining it as the commitment she is not yet ready to make. Does he accept her offer though? The episode ends with a jump in time and maddeningly we don’t see yet what happened with the ring. We do see a clearly unhappy Tora standing off to the side with Quincey, and Poppy surrounded by the thuglets, who seem to be trying to make a good impression on her. But why? Could this be because they saw her with Big Bro Tora and somehow know that she’s important to him? And what is she looking at on her phone? What is making her face so red? Is she angry at something? Embarrassed? Drunk? And how the hell is she getting any reception in a cave??? Poppy also finally meets Gyu, and learns his connection to Tora and Quincey. By the intent look on her face you get the feeling she is starting to put the pieces together about how deeply Tora is involved in her life in ways she was not aware. This does not bode well for Tora, as Poppy is likely not going to appreciate being unknowingly watched, even for her own protection, and she’s going to want to know why. (Wait until she learns about the motion detector.👀). This was such a rich and amazing episode. I feel like this rollercoaster 🎢 is really getting ready to take off now, both in the romance and with the notebook plot line, and we had better buckle up for some major twists and turns. ❤️

I cannot stop thinking about the last two episodes and the way they remind me of the balcony scene. More like balcony reversed, as I think there are a lot of parallels between them. I feel like looking at both sides of a mirror, where his internal monologue and the hand holding are the common ground, the glass of the mirror. On the balcony he was reaching out to hold her hand to comfort her, now is the other way around. They were outside, somewhere up, the view was natural and open (river, city) – it was her home, her world. Now they are underground, closed space, the view is made of artificial lights – his „world”. His thoughts in the balcony episodes were directed towards her protection from physical pain. Her actions now are meant to protect herself from an emotional one. Just as he delivered a hard truth to her then (that somebody could pick her lock and enter her apartment), she is now delivering a hard truth to him (I don’t want to commit to the wrong one again). He wanted to get out of her life because he knew then it was wrong to get her involved, but now, after she found out about him, he goes for it because he wants her and is „I don’t have anything to lose”. Only that this might have been true on the balcony, but now he realizes it’s the exact opposite. They both project their insecurities on each other and have more healing to do on themselves. She is upfront because deep down I think she is still insecure (she told Erdene about locating her self esteem, also – „I’m the creeper in the corner staring at people like him”), so I think she wants to protect herself because there is no way somebody like Tora would want a real commitment right? Not to mention that all their kisses were a bargain for something (delivering the painting, cigarettes) or while being “buzzed”. The way he took it to heart is also a self-projection of his truth: I am not worthy of you, I have nothing to offer you. „It’s just another hookup” is just his way of doubling down on self-hate as he does whenever he feels vulnerable. And I feel so heartbroken for him that he thinks he is the wrong one and has nothing to give, nor the right to take anything from her. I am however confident that Lily will make them grow together and not apart, and will make them build their trust in each other and in themselves.

I find myself just emotionally drained. also super thankful that I'm a millennial married lady because fuck dating is hard and I really am so glad I don't have to do it anymore. I mentioned earlier in a different comment that they have not known each other that long and she still doesn't really know his last name or really any big realities about him. the misalignment here is that he has had nothing to love his whole life and he is falling hard and fast for her and does not know what a normal relationship should look like or what to do with his feelings. I have so much empathy for him and I so badly want her to just scoop him up in her tiny arms and take care of him like he's so badly needs but that would be incredibly unrealistic to expect of her. She also doesn't know how abused and unloved he has been his whole life in any real way. she can obviously sense that there's something different about her relationship with him so she's being upfront which is exactly what she needs to do. If this were a normal interaction... And not something that has already come with a life death experience, some light surveillance, the threat of murder or at least extreme violence, etc then they probably would have maybe been on one or two dates by now. she wouldn't be worried about him misinterpreting her actions as the start of a new serious relationship. I know they're going to be okay in the end but i also know we have to just sort of brace ourselves and watch one or both of them hurt from time to time. And I'm fine with that... Think of the alternative. Lily could have had them kiss,make out, express their already deep and perfectly organized feelings for each other, go home have sex and then she could have rolled credits and taken a vacation. I think nothing will hurt more than that "series finale" announcement because I will fucking miss u thirsty bitches so fucking much! thank you Lily for painfully dragging this out as long as you're willing to ♥️♥️♥️

I feel like the idea that the Thuglets are probably going to look at Damien’s success with Erdene and just assume that ladies are into astrology. There’s this sudden surge of “I’m a Scorpio and my favorite color is blue.” introductions at the clubs. The ladies are both amused and mildly confused by this. A lot of people seem to think that Poppy was asking Tora to put the necklace around her neck. I don’t think that’s what she was saying. She was asking Tora to wear the necklace around his neck...for her! Also, although initially I thought that Poppy was “breaking up” ,in a way, with Tora (my first read thought frenzy 😋), I think that she was just trying to explain where she is emotionally at the moment so, that Tora would have a better understanding of what she wants...she wants someone who is going to be there fully for her....Tora wants the same thing (she “tastes like heaven” after all, and to a fallen angel that is hope, hope for redemption, pearly gates and all) but, his mafia ties will not permit him to make her fell safe and secure like a true relationship deserves...he will overcome that of course (the dam inside of him is about to burst, LOVE, LOVE and there is no going back then!) we, just have to be patients and go along for a ride...they have growing to do and at the end of it they will be splendid and awesome together! I think that Tora will be wearing the necklace in the next episode...I think that the text Poppy was reading at the end was a selfie of Tora wearing it...she was extra blushing and I don’t know, just my hunch! Also, could Tora, Guy and Quincey be talking about clan stuff at the end and not wanting Poppy to hear about it??? And that is the reason why she was standing with lil thuglets???

I loved this episode. One of the most thought provoking yet! I get where Poppy is coming from. And we have to rememer she doesn't know Tora's full past... Because he hasn't told her. They haven't gotten there yet. And that's okay. And I want sexy times scenes... But I've been in a similar situation of flirting and kissing but instead of speaking up like Poppy did, I assumed we were on the same oage- that this "counted" and meant something... And it didn't to him. Which sucked. So maybe she could have expressed herself better, but I appreciate the sentiment. Does this mean something? Does this change anything? I think her looking at her phone at the end has something to do with Tora- maybe something that happened during the "hours and drinks" we didn't see.

So, this is just just my take and I could be wrong. I don't think Poppy was playing with him or pulling away, she kind of asked him the same question in the kitchen when he hugged her. She just doesn't trust her judgment from being hurt and having abandonment issues. Tora has hurt and abandoned her (in her eyes) before, let us not forget this. I think she is sinking deep fast, that's why she always stops right before she completely loses herself in him and to him. She wants to, but she is looking for him to spell out what they are almost so that she can decide how much of herself to invest in him so she can save herself pain. She hasn't admitted to herself yet that it doesn't matter what he defines them as because her heart has already defined him as hers. They actually both are all in with their hearts. Tora feels unworthy and like he is dirty and can't picture someone like Poppy "innocent and clean" to want him for anything real. He thinks she's rejecting him but she is actually looking for him to validate them as more than a hookup. It's actually heartbreaking for both of them because they both just want to be loved and accepted with warts and all. She doesn't trust her feelings for him cause she can't trust her own judgment and he doesn't trust that he is a person worthy of her love. As alway, gorgeous art and story chock full of emotion and mind fuckery. I love it!

I have to say I 110% agree with Poppy decision. I don't know if yall have been in a push and pull relationship, lukewarm, not knowing whats going on is exhausting. Looking at Tora's actions of closing up and shutting down isn't good for any relationship. And with Poppy who recognize that she has a tendency to second guess and over analyze situations, his behavior is not going to help her growth. Hence the pause 🛑. No playa u can't keep popping in and out like a pop tart 😆 (okok I'll stop ranting) The first part of the story was about Poppy's growth (self validation) and now this next part is about Tora growth (self worth (is what I think he needs to work on)) We can see this during the start of the club arc with poppy's speech about how she's not the only one running away and we see how Tora is doing the same thing (or to be honest not doing anything). Even though we saw that dream about Tora making a choice and deciding to go after Poppy. We really haven't seen him make any progress with that. He's not trying to get out the mafia, or build a relationship with Poppy, to be honest he's not doing anything just allowing life to take him wherever (you know since he's a fallen angel not worthy of anything "good or heaven-like"). Right now he's lurking behind his wall only popping out when its convenient for him( which i understand because that whats been keeping alive), but if he wants a relationship he is going have to let down his walls. Yall don't know how hard it was for me to get this post out (and to be honest I still didn't get everything out 🤦🏾‍♀️). I'm sick, and I feel like I'm rambling. It took me 40 min to post this mess. I was talking to my sister about this post, and she's like if it's taking you this long don't post it. I could seriously feel the love emanating from these panels between Poppy and Tora. That kiss was definitely more than them just being "horny" no, that kiss had so much meaning behind it. The soft way his hands caressed her face. The way he asked her did she want to hold onto him to make the moment more intimate followed by her agreeing to it followed by a more passionate kiss. Them gasping for air not wanting to come out of the situation the two of them have created is so PURE!!! Tora may not be a virgin when it comes to sex but he's definitely getting his "cherry popped" when it comes to releasing the raw version of himself to anyone the way he does with his flower and he does it so delicately. Poppy may be a virgin sexually but she is not one when it comes to relationships and taking it "slow" seems fitting. Notice i said "slow" These two have a unique pace to their race. Tora that frog may warm up at a pace slower than you'd like or even Poppy but he will not die. He'll enjoy the temperature until it's just right. I love how Poppy notices every single reaction from Tora and although she wants to "slow" the pace. she still continues to show her interest through intimate touch with his hands. Leaning into him. I think Tora is so understanding of Poppy as he's always been. At Regina's peak he got a glimpse of her hurt feelings from Julri, at his home another, and now she's finally released the complete information to him about that relationship. If anything I think it will make him want to protect her feelings by providing what she needs which is the correct way she needs to be loved without even realizing he's doing it. He said he didn't have anything to give or take from her yet he's giving her hope and a realization that she can be herself and feel comfortable, make decisions and not feel judged, speak her truth and not receive negative criticism. He's taking away the negativity Julri left and he doesn't even realize it. Poppy in my opinion didn't stop the moving vehicle, she's just driving the speed limit around the curves before they hit the straight away where you can feel comfortable enough to freely floor it. The way these two are so honest with one another, I doubt that either one of them feel upset with the other, they just respect each other more. That ring necklace scene was Powerful!!! In my opinion she's offering herself to him but in her time and I just know Tora understands. They are two bodies with one soul. Very intuned with each others emotional states. Lily, this was breath taking. Thank you and team for this. I'm going to reread this over so over again. I’m back! You know what I really appreciate about Lily’s story telling, is how open it is for interpretation. I really enjoy the fact that the storyline and plot aren’t explicitly spelled out for readers, that it doesn’t go from point A to B to C, and that as readers we all pick up on different underlying meanings based on our personal experiences. All hallmarks of phenomenal story telling! I think that this is especially evident in this weeks chapter on how split we all are in how we read and understand the characters actions. As always, I appreciate the different perspectives on the story and look forward to see what’s next!!

Hey guys... So I haven't read the comments here just yet. I actually was trying to process my feelings towards the episode first and man.... talk about emotional whiplash... We’re having an absurdly shitty time here in Brazil right now, my emotions are already all over the place and this episode really got to me and left me with a bitter taste in the pit of my stomach. I’d like to make it clear first and foremost, again and again, that in ANY way I’m questioning Lily’s storytelling and her narrative decisions. She’s a skillful author and I know she cares even more deeply for her characters than us! This is HER story. And if anything how much the events affected me goes to show how strong of a narrative she’s writing. Characters need to grow, and their dualities and flaws are what make for good narrative arcs. But this episode truly got to me and It was somehow quite unexpectedly triggering, and since I read it I’m trying to elaborate exactly why and how I feel the way I do, so I’m trying to assess things from the perspectives of both the characters and as an outsider viewer here. I wanted to add onto this for my previous comment i made the other day cause I’ve also been thinking about this a lot to that both tora and poppy do have the problem of not feeling worthy of one another because of the internal issues they are dealing with. As humans we unfortunately sprout to negativity more than positivity and when you’re beaten down so many times and told negative things about yourself during so many instances in your life you unfortunately start to believe those awful things are true and it makes you form thoughts in your head of being unworthy of anyone and not having anything to offer. Kind of like that saying is goes in pretty woman where Julia roberts says Richard gere “the bad stuff is always easier to believe.” And that is so true on so many levels. It’s almost like they are both thinking the same thing as to why why would this person who I care for and who I connect with so deeply ever want me or see me as worthy once they know all my dark sides? But that is the most important part of love. Trust. It doesn’t mean that neither of them will get hurt by the other in some way, but it’s like most people say whatever pain you may experience from taking the chance and opening yourself up to love will never compare to the regret that comes with the decision of walking away from love. Which Is definitely gonnna be the biggest hurdle these two go thorough which is putting there trust in one another and knowing that what they are feeling for one another is real and to trust themselves and know their worth. Haha what a dolt!! 2ndly, I truely believe that great writing inspires a thought provoking and an introspective reaction. So Lily you keep doing you and telling Tora and Poppy's story! Everytime i finish an episode, i growl at myself for reading it to fast ahha! After reading the comments I was totally blown away by everyone's truth and courage to share how they relate and feel! I can see so much of myself in these two characters and slowly seeing their journey unfold is thrilling or heart warming and gives me hope that one day I can find my voice and move forward. I was thinking along the same lines as far as Tora taking it off or deciding to put it on later bc she said she wasn't giving it back but just asking him if he wanted to put it on her himself. There were moments in his episode that felt truly heart breaking for Tora, even though I whole-heartily see where Poppy is coming from and I respect what she is saying and her thinking. However we also know that Tora is a lot more sensitive than he looks. I feel like this episode cements their attraction to each other. They know its there and they know its strong. I also feel that each of them is evaluating some things. Poppy seems to be figuring her state of being and how to not slip into who she was, navigating fears of his life ability to affect hers and falling hard for someone she should be afraid of and more Im sure. I dont think Tora knows how much Poppy cares about him. He still doesn't seem sure about why she is affecting him like this. Wow this episode started off fulfilling my gutter nymph urges *fans self*. But then it made me sad real fast 😔 Can we take a moment to appreciate how well Lily can convey emotions on 2D characters? 👏👏👏Like I can FEEL the emotions coming off the characters and floating around me and into my heart and entire being lol. Reading through the comments, I see that I'm not alone in feeling pretty sad and sympathizing with our boy Tora. Also I read a lot of comments from people relating to Poppy's invisible scars. So far as I've been reading MPL, I have taken a spectator approach, but I've been inspired to draw parallels. A lot of what Poppy said and did made me realize...IT BABY ME! Anyways, this response has been in draft form all weekend and before I knew it it was becoming a novel and I still have more to say lol. It was definitely therapeutic for me to recall and analyze my past relationships with MPL parallels and motifs. I'll post the completed novel if anyone is interested in reading 😅 I also noticed in the "just a minute" panel, Tora is holding Poppy's fingers like a cigarette, so is this a symbolic nod to the cigarette replacement reward system? 😘

Been thinking about this episode and my own stab at relationships lately. Both Tora and Poppy have a lot of baggage when it comes to commitment but I REALLY hope some communication happens in the next episode about what each wants at this point. It's so painful to watch half truths when dealing with a potential relationship, whether that's romantic or platonic. And in their case, its obviously leaning more romantic. Tora needs to be realistic with Poppy now that she's stepping into his world and Poppy needs to decide what she wants in a new relationship. AND THEN they both need to communicate that instead of kissing and then awkwardly saying 'its nothing' when clearly it's more than nothing even if it's not 'something' yet.

I am so happy that i switched my tier. I cant over the familiar longing and fear in Tora and Poppy's eyes as they obviously seem to be coming to terms with their affection. Just been there and done that. When two completely different worlds collide.... something is bound to break. Seeing them lean on and trust in each other to passionately kiss like that makes me hopeful that we will see them together even deeper later. However, a few pieces had me feeling like one will walk away again if but for only of a little while. The awkward cuddle toward the end is also my reassurance that Poppy will always come to Tora. Maybe for once, although he doesnt want to, Tora needs to come to Poppy.
