Okay... next chapter (IDK If I can do all three ... shit.) Takeaway from Ch. 60? Poppy is a fucking BADASS and little cockroach of doom is MVP. To be able to think that quickly, and that clearly while watching Ben in pain and worrying about both their safety, Poppy makes a fucking PLAN! And not only does she outwit them… she INSULTS them in the process!! “L’esprit De L’escalier” means: “The predicament of thinking of the perfect line too late”. GIRL. This callback to episode one is EVERYTHING!!! I WAS DYING. This is both hilarious and genius. I love anything that brings the comic full circle, and I love Poppy’s humor. Sure, she might always think of the perfect line too late, but damn it if she won’t capitalize on that personality flaw later for her own amusement and benefit. And using her smarts against these thugs is BALSY. Like, she’s banking on them being idiots 🤣 Now? Rapid fire: -The light is EVERYTHING. Tells the story even without dialogue -Tora is a fucking SNAC and I will say it every time I see him. IDC. -Poppy telling him to run and then him pulling her back as if she hit a brick wall is ALSO everything. Bwahahahahaha -Lorge hand. Smol hand. Halp. -Doom lighting is my favorite. -These transition panels are SO SMOOTH and sexy… can a transition even be sexy? Well it is now. -If Ben was a dog he would be an English Sheep dog. He does NOT have eyes. Pretty sure this is canon 😂 -Poppy is a badass mother fucker with a plan -Gotta love a girl who carries wet wipes. -False flattery is a weapon and Poppy wields it with precision. -Green hair thug can STILL suck a cockroach - “Gentleman”…. LOL OKAY -Cockroach coming in BIG. Such a cooperative little insect of doom. -Ben’s face when Poppy grabs him is, again, EVERYTHING. Just “WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED” alllll around. -The stress in this chapter is INSANE and I love it?? So real. -BEN HAS EYES!?!?! I stand corrected! - Love that it’s Ben here being the first one to suggest a call to the local authorities. It 1-Highlights Poppy’s reluctance to get cops involved and 2. Answers the readers question as to why they haven’t yet. -And now, knowing we are close to Ares street, we have a good idea where Ben is going. Mama Candy where you at??? -Then, the progressing of night in these chapters!! We can SEE the sun setting as the panels go on. GAH. So good. -And lastly, it’s time for Poppy to school us on empathy. No… She’s not just thinking about herself anymore. She can’t make simple choices like calling the police anymore. She’s made friends. She cares about others who are not in the same circumstance as her. She worried about Tora, about Ben. About all the people she now knows now… and things. Are. Complicated.

When he said “I’m right here.” I heard it. I felt it. I was hit by an overwhelming feeling of safety as if I was Poppy. Those three words spoke volumes. He knows his ballsy little hamster isn’t afraid to stand up to him and I think he knows she’ll feel safe standing up for herself in that alley because he’s right there. I have so many words going through my head over that simple phrase, so many unspoken meanings that come with it. He will protect her but most importantly he will stand by her and let her speak for herself. Season 2 just started but I think that sentiment is going to be a reoccurring part of their relationship. She’s going to learn about his world but he’s not going to let her do it alone. Every step of the way, “I’m right here.”

“I’m right here.” So..... Tora allowing Poppy to fight her battle, but offering his help. “Fight this battle, but I’ll be beside you.” This reminds me of one of my favorite moments from a Disney movie. For those of you who have watched Frozen 2, you might have overlooked this brilliant piece of writing. In the movie there is a delightful moment when shit hits the jet turbine and everything is very much NOT GOOD. Like the world has gone sideways NOT GOOD. Anna runs into Kristoff and he says: “I’m here, what do you need?” Not: “let me handle this.” Tora is doing the EXACT same thing here. He knows Poppy can do this on her own. He trusts that she can hold her own, he’s giving her credit for being strong, smart and resourceful enough. He offers her HELP but does NOT take over the situation. He’s encouraging her to have faith in her own abilities. Tora knows she stopped trusting herself, and her judgement, I think he’s handing her confidence back to her. And what does our Poppy do? She turns around and shouts at the thugs to stop insulting Tora. She holds him in high regard and is pissed when they don’t as well. Tora stands up straighter, surprised, clearly. Tora doesn’t get support like this too terribly often. I JUST LOVE THIS SCENE SO FUCKING HARD RIGHT NOW!!!

So in ep 60 Poppy casually walks down Ares street right into the arms of mofo Tora 🤣🤣🤣bahahaha I was laughing so hard. Seems Tora has rubbed off on her a little when it comes to nasty words lol. Especially when she yelled "HEY".  Dude's got a name sweetheart. Just call him bae 😏😝lol. And while she runs towards him the sun goes down 🌆behind the buildings. Lights out, spot on. 🌃The tiger of Ares street arises. I swear I got goosebumps in that moment, because it's such a powerful scene! As soon as the sun sets the lights go on and the entire hood just becomes a WILD place🚨🔫💥🔥🔪! And in the middle of all the chaos there is a calm tiger and also I ask myself, just as Poppy, what kind of life he's lived so far to be this calm under these circumstances🥺🥺🥺   But I'm going ahead of myself. Before this happens she tries to run away with him. Instead he grabs her by the wrist, slides down to take her hand and to affirm her to stand her ground. My first thought was "It's easy for you to say this muscle man" but I learn a wonderful new trade about Tora here. He would never run away from anything. He faces his fears and responsibilities! Always! And that's what he's teaching Poppy now. Of course he would not want her to face them all by herself but this is about trust and he wants her to trust him....I think lol. LMAO and then she's like "Okay, how many do I have to stand my ground to 🤣😂🤣   And then flashback to what happened previously at the streetfood stand. I love how smart Poppy is and tries to confuse red suit dude with her French skills and the spelling contest that followed🤣😂🤣She even got me fooled because I only realized that she tried to confuse him after rereading for the third time! And I thought she really intented to pay for dry-cleaning. I can't believe she grabbed that cockroach like a bad ass! Let's be honest. Not many of us would've done that! I mean that thing was a monster! But she did and I thought she'd crush it and wipe it all over his mobile lol. Guess she just learned her first lesson in Ares street. Fight or run lol.   So she decides to *casually walk* LMAO dragging Ben 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💨💨with her while also praising him like a good boy hahaha. Then they try to find a place to hide but sun sets soon and the streets are about to become more dangerous!!! Then Ben has the brilliant idea to leave Poppy all by herself🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Dude, you never leave a girl behind in a dangerous area! But he's still young and got so many things to learn. So  I give him that lol.   It's interesting that this is the moment that Poppy realizes how entangled she with this environment of Tora AND Quincey already. After all she knows that Quincey is the son of a high clan boss of Ares street and Tora is also a high ranking member. But that doesn't seem to scare her off...yet.

All I could think of in this episode really is the “stand ya ground.” from Tora. Because I’m remembering the little boy stuck in a cage screaming at Vincent that he wasn’t scared, with tears running down his face. I hated seeing little Tora like that, so it’s stuck with me pretty hard. Tora telling Poppy to stand her ground makes that memory hit differently now....

I love how Poppy is able to adapt to the situation so quickly! Like girl has back up plans for her back up plans! And yeah, even in a crisis I don't think I would have had the guts to grab that roach! Watching the thugs souls leave their bodies was *chef's kiss*. And poor Ben is just having a "what is happening" kind of moment 🤣 But let's be real, we all know leaving someone in a "safe place" while the other person goes to get help never works out!

Let’s do this. 💪🏻 How visually stunning is that scene of Poppy running towards Tora with his cigarette smoke obscuring it all? What a way to open the episode! I’m intrigued by the way it’s leaving Poppy’s face in darkness and not the rest of her. But that soon changes, she’s so adorable with her wide eyed expression and the serious flush from running. Tora’s, ‘what the fuck’ expression is equally as entertaining. I love a caught off guard tiger. 😏 There’s that protective instinct for him coming through, the way she grabs his arm to yank him along with her. Oof!! I love how quickly he recovered from the shock of her screaming at him to run, to just super casual owning that space around him. He was going NOWHERE fast, bless her heart for trying! 😂 Cue the heart pitter patters I got when I first glimpsed him holding her hand. Swear down a story hasn’t made me feel like this in so so long! And I get it every single time, even with re reads. *All bow to the queen Lilydusk*! I’m sure it’s been said a lot, but I got tingles when he said, “Stand ya ground. I’m right here.” The difference in their positions really stands out. When I’m not openly ogling at the sheer bloody size of Tora anyway. Not just me right? Heh. Ahhh the part of Poppy having a mini panic/catch ya breath girl, to Tora totally blank faced...I LIVE for the differences in them in scenes like this. Ok, shit gets real, real fast when we fly back to what happened with wannabe thugs. I had no idea how they were going to get themselves out of a pretty freaking tight spot right here. Literally surrounded by bad dudes, I could feel my panic rising. Even now I feel that knot of tension in my chest at the thought of being in their shoes. And when Poppy got grabbed! Best believe I was ready to freak out. All those bad past moments I’ve had came rushing back and I suddenly felt as helpless as she appeared. The rage I felt at the insinuation in this part from these arseholes. Ugh, I’ve had to re read it quick lest I throw my phone across the room cause situations like this should never be a thing and I hate they are. Clearly I got bit triggered. Sorrry! But Poppy pulled me back down to Earth with her very freaking quick thinking, playing up to douche number 1’s ego, her ‘who me?’ like attitude and the name of this so called cleaning service....I’m howling!! I didn’t look it up, but I’ve seen a few others have and it’s freaking brilliant! After her frustration in the beginning of the story for coming back with a remark too late, this was fantastic! Just made that scene that much sweeter once I went back with that newfound knowledge. I AM BEN!! BEN IS ME!! That absolute POWER MOVE by Poppy grabbing the cockroach....NO. NOPE! Jesus could you imagine if Quincey was there? 😂😂 Someone please draw that! Or write it! As much as I wanted to hurl along with Ben, I can’t get the image of Quincey out of my head having a total breakdown at seeing her do it! Mwahahaha. How pissed is that cockroach though!! *wheezing!!* Taking no prisoners, straight for the face. Dead. Those pants probably need more than a clean for a bit of spilt noodles, bruh. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Suns getting real low...the build up is a-mazing! I really felt the predicament Poppy felt at wether to call the cops or not, too. She’s been taking further and further steps into Tora’s world, this battle between safety with him or the cops, to do the right thing or turn a blind eye because of who could get into trouble...these lines are only going to be blurrier, and I wonder at what cost to her or her relationships. But I live for the angst of a story so I’m bracing myself and gripping on tight! 😁 A real mixed episode, the laughs sure took the edge off the harshness of the situations. Calmed me down pretty quick from the triggers personally. I loved it, fan for life right here!

I was rereading from the beginning and I can’t wait to know if Tora had to kill Joseph in order to save Gyu...... or maybe he couldn’t save joseph in order to save Gyu...... but I don’t think that Tora would have picked Gyu over Joseph but I’m just preparing my heart for the worst case scenario .... what happened to joseph baby face!!!!?? And why does Gyu owe his life to Tora
