I really just have been reading this episode over a few times and it really makes me happy. Poppy brought Tora home with her, she’s trusting him enough to feel safe and to just BE HERSELF with him. She’s not putting on a show, and she’s beginning to feel comfortable in her own skin. Everything before this has been more nebulous, with Poppy being unsure of her attraction to Tora, Tora’s attraction to her, her move to the city, her new job, the end of her relationship with the Petty Potato - all of those rapid changes that she’s been dealing with since we started this story. Poppy still has some plates in the air, but things are starting to resolve, enabling her to take some steps forward.I love love loved Poppy having Tora get behind her on her scooter (and his BLUSH), leading them both away from the Petty Potato’s nonsense. Tora, ever the gent, kept his hands on his knees instead of wrapping his arms around Poppy, which had to have been super difficult to do - but it’s just another example of how much respect he has for her. It's subtle, but so telling. 🥰🥰🥰 I also love love loved that when things (her scooter) were a bit off balance, Poppy quickly corrected the issue and let Tora take the lead. The flirty banter between them demonstrates the growing comfort level between the two. There’s SO MUCH subtext in Tora’s asking Poppy to hold on to him as well as telling her not to let go of him. The journey, not the destination. He’s still a little shy about holding on to her, but he knows that she’ll need to hold on to him and not let go in order for them to get through their coming challenges and difficulties. Tora squints as he focuses on the road ahead of him, as Poppy quietly tightens her grip. OH MY STARS, I CANNOT EVEN. This just brings my symbolism-obsessed brain so much joy. This is gonna be good. ✨​​✨ We finally get to Granny’s house, where Poppy seems to center herself, and Tora has a small bugs/frogs/quiet/snakes/dark/holy-shit-she-found-my-jammies-related panic attack. When I was younger, my parents moved us from a city to a rural area, so I totally understand what he’s feeling here ahahaha! 😂😂 All of Tora’s “deep mafia thoughts” serve to highlight how Tora and Poppy come from two different worlds, in more ways than one. They’re almost from different planets, but seem to continue to orbit around each other. Sometimes it’s just like that. Tora once again respects Poppy by giving her space and time to freshen up, mentally discard Julri once and for all, and commune with her spirit animal, a glowing bunny (quick Google: rabbits symbolize mercy, elegance, and beauty). Tora doesn’t try to creep up the stairs or invade her space in any way like many guys would do, he stays in the same area and calmly waits for Poppy to return. He’s such a gem. Poppy finally embraces both her power and her beauty, walks down the stairs, and hits Tora with a double entendre for the ages. Let the journey begin. 😈😈😈

This was soo worth the two weeks, the antcipation made it even better! But my poor little hardened-by-life-experience brain now's going: don't dare to hope, maybe next week we will just see what's happening with Gyu....but..but...but..so far MLP have not had that kind of cliffhanger, so I'm breathing deep and going back to re-read from the start and enjoy ALL the innuendos😉

Well wasn’t this episode a pure delight!! I have been grinning about it since I first read it at 3am, through bleary eyes (because I’m the idiot who was too eager to read it and didn’t think to put my glasses on). I probably won’t deep dive with this one (maybe, who knows!) but I sure did love every single flirty, pervy, cheeky moment of this episode! So Julri stuck a potato in his exhaust. I am howling at the sheer idiocy of that dick around the opening dialogue that gave nothing away at first, but did remind me of that office scene where Tora was taking what Quincey said and dropping it in the gutter to make Poppy laugh. And he has a potato business? Bahaha. Lamest indeed, Tora. Look at him used to people trying to kill him, and here’s some little pip squeak getting back at him with a potato. It’s hilarious! Now Poppy’s expression here was like, ‘guess I gotta take one for the team!’ and that smile I had did not leave. Cause she looked so serious and a touch nervous. And Tora!! Oh my god, these two kill me with their awkward hilarity! The way he’s sitting on the back, hands on his thighs, super casual while Poppy is tense as fuck...Lily, you are genius!! I love this part of Tora blushing and Poppy looking dead ahead trying so hard to not overthink what was going on. The composition of it was fantastic. Aw, Pops, you’ve totally NOT got this! I’d be swerving all over the road too if I had that hunk of a man sitting so close behind me I might as well sit in his lap. No judgement here. LOL! “What problem? I don’t see a problem?” Sure about that tiger? Now this man has got me all kinds of mush brained, because now I know he rides too (I adore the way she says that!) and the way he was laughing at her saying he was too heavy, he’s a sneaky shit isn’t he? We all saw that particular area you focused on when Poppy stood up, we know he was loving being close to her and letting her think she totally had this and leaving her all skittish and flushed. So now I’m appreciating that he didn’t take control back at the car, when he could’ve said he’d drive, but as this is her scooter and her town, he let her take the reins. And I’m sure part of it was him just having a little fun with her, I like to think the bigger picture is they’ve got a great balance between them and he doesn’t walk over her. Here I go laughing out loud again, cause this whole sequence of them driving back to Poppy’s has got me roaring! There’s too much for me to repeat here, I might as well just screenshot the whole lot, because it was amazing! Poppy’s nervous, Tora is relishing trying to crank some speed out of the old girl, and whoosh! She was loving that rush, embrace it Poppy. Just like you’re embracing Tora. Uh-huh, we see that blush and tighter grip, Poppy. I’ve got the giggles so bad! Also how beautiful is that shot of Tora’s hand and Poppy’s on him, the differences in them? I adore the little details like that, those splayed fingers on him, just holding him instead of gripping. I felt like it showed a lot of trust she feels for him just in that one gorgeous piece. Lily your artwork is stunning! The stars above with the beautiful landscape around them, going out into outer parts of town, just the two of them. I got tingles! And then more giggles. Big bad thug undone by some frogs and bugs? Tora you never cease to undo me! Here you have Poppy taking a deep breath of that country air, probably just enjoying the smell and sounds of home. And Tora is looking around like, wtf? It was a perfect timed levity, because although Poppy sounded super casual about bugs and snakes, I felt like there was some frisson of nerves under that. I mean this is a big deal having Tora come and see where she grew up, see inside her world some more. And she’s just been through a pretty emotionally difficult day with granny and Julri. And the night isn’t over yet... Pft, Tora calling the scooter as cute as button like it’s owner...just fucking slay me now Tora, I’m already half dead thanks to you anyway! Good lawd, the adorableness of this man!! How very dare him... And he brought his jammies? Fuuuuuck, stop it I can’t take it! The snark between these two, pft pft, haha! “And I know it shouldn’t bother you, but...” Poppy has no idea her man is about ready to climb the walls because he is in fact bothered by the bugs. Way to make him more human, it’s hilarious!! Now this house...I am super curious! It looks really fancy beneath the age of it, those doors are gorgeous and the little touches with the floors etc, I suddenly really need to know more about Poppy’s family history, how long this has been in the family and who exactly owns it? I’ve turned the brightness way up on my phone to try and make out more details, but I need answers! I can feel those creaky cogs in my brain turning, trying to sift through the wild theories bouncing around. I’ll wait. I can be patient! I am HERE for Poppy wanting to feel sexier tonight! Julri has fucked her around enough, and I’m so happy to read her trying to shake his influence loose. But I did cry out to my phone, you ARE a regular person, Poppy! You’re so relatable, we all have hang ups etc and reading a character go through the same process is so refreshing to read. Embrace yourself and own it! I feel like there’s definitely been a shift with her since she had her confrontation with Julri and I couldn’t be happier! Fuck yeah he’s hungry, Poppy. Hot damn. This episode brings up all the fuzzy feelings of bring someone special home for the first time 🔥😍🔥 I re-read the episode with the music recommendation and it was even better 😍😍😍. And now, allow me to dump some overthinking fangirling thoughts 😂 1. The opening scene - a panel of the starry night and innuendo: "he stuck a what into your what??". The last episode had a similar starry night and innuendo "gahh it's stuck". If the rule of 3 applies here, I predict a hilarious or otherwise satisfying beginning next episode. And with the way this one ended I'd be happy with either or both 😏😏😏 2. Mysterious Potato - Julri's lameness has no bounds! Not only is he conveniently there in the evening to spot Poppy, he conveniently has a potato at his disposal and thinks to stuff it in the exhaust in the few minutes that Poppy and Tora are across the street. Of all the lame things indeed.... this boy is not worth anyone's time 🙄🙄🙄 And if his goal was to ruin their night, it did the complete opposite: cue the most adorable of scooter rides 😍🛵💨 3. Scooter driver - Poppy looks determined to drive them home and Tora almost tells her he can just drive them 🤭🤭 I absolutely love these moments where Tora could be domineering and tell her to move aside, but instead he consciously let's her take the lead. My brain keeps linking these moments back to his childhood and how he wasn't given much control over his own life. He's had to fight so he could to dominate. And now, instead of putting his insecurities on Poppy, he steps aside and gives her the grace that he was rarely given. Maybe I'm making something big out of nothing, but I think the little things can sometimes reveal a lot about someone's character. (K moving on 🤓😅) 4. First heart melt 💗 - the panel of Tora's lap around Poppy got me. It's a vulnerable and intimate position to be in. Also the way Poppy's dress droops between her legs just adds to the realism. 🙏🙏🙏 Lily and team, your realistic drawings that respect physics are so appreciated. Speaking of which... 5. The physics of scooters 💗 - I've driven a scooter with my boyfriend on the back and it is a fuckin' WORK OUT to keep that thing balanced. Tora is probably much heavier so I applaud Poppy for trying 👏💪👏 This 'problem' leads to the beautiful banter that we all love 😍. And Poppy what is this question: do you 'have' to hold on to him. No you don't have to, but you have a very convenient excuse to wrap your arms around the man-meat you were oogling a few days ago. So I guess in a sense YES YOU HAVE TO 🥵 6. Parallels with Ulaan and Yuwa 😱?? - this scooter ride is giving my flashbacks to Ulaan and Yuwa horseriding in the forest. The closeness, innuendo and banter, Tora's hair getting tangled in the wind, Poppy's blushing .. and then the scenery. The wind, the frogs... and the lake? WHITE LAKE ??? 🤯🤯 am I crazy or this deja vu?? I'm jumping ahead but we all know what happened when Yuwa and Ulaan finally made it back to camp right? 😏😏😏😏 all signs point to a climax that could be steamy like that bath tub in AB....... 🥵🥵🥵 7. The CONTRASTS 🤩 - Outside the house, both Tora and Poppy are engulfed in the environment. Tora is counting the frogs and the aside about "deep mafia thoughts" reminds me that he is use to analyzing his environment to assess threats and opportunities. Its part of his every day life and how he establishes control over different situations. He's unsettled by the quiet. Poppy, on the other hand takes a deep breath and is at ease in the peaceful country side. I think this contrasts with the first few episodes of season 2 when they were on Ares street. Now its Tora's turn to be in an alien world where Poppy is at home. They both feel unsafe in the other's environment, but only for a moment! Much like Tora told Poppy to stand her ground, Poppy brings Tora out of his head and teases him about his Dino shirt. Ok, maybe I'm stretching the contrasts now.....🤷‍♀️ either why, THEY ARE CUTE AS A GOD DAMN BUTTON💗💗💗 8. Poppy's growth and the Rabbit- Poppy's stepping out from Jurli's shadow and slipping into something comfortable. I appreciate that she's dressing for herself first (Because let's be honest, Tora will find her delicious regardless). You go woman 💪❤ 😁!!! I think the rabbit underscores her intentions. In Chinese culture, the rabbit is yin and represents pure, earnestness. Poppy is being earnest in her femininity and going for it !! Also the cat's named ernest herringway...😱 Is the rabbit a red-herring?? Is the earnestness a herring??? where is my red yarn for my hunting-a-serial-killer board??? "Fuck, yeah I do" want it to be next Friday 😍🥵🤯❤😀

Okay, now that I've had overnight and the morning to reread it and mull it over for a while, some more thoughts. (Apologies for the length...) So, Tora's laughter last time wasn't about riding on the scooter like I thought. But what we got here was SO much better than I could have expected. I mean... that fucking potato. And would you believe, I actually found a "What would happen" article about putting a potato in a tailpipe? https:///blogs/dear-car-talk/what-happens-when-you-put-potato-tailpipe-seriously I feel like the inverse symmetry is continuing here, at least to some extent. On Ares Street, their potential plans were interrupted by a very real, very dangerous police chase. And now, plans interrupted by... a potato. Whomp whomp. Hilarious and prefect. Then what we were all waiting for. Poppy stepping up to the rescue with that scooter ride. And Tora. Bless him. There's so much about this I love. He could have handled it himself and knew it, but he didn't want to impose himself on her like that. (Not to mention how much he loves it when his hamster gets all feisty and determined.) But since he can't lie worth anything, he said nothing. Then our boy kept 👏🏻 his hands 👏🏻 to himself. 👏🏻 And you just KNOW how aware he is of himself. That little blush in his cheeks as he looks down at her between his legs. Probably hoping she doesn't notice anything going on in the vicinity of his lap. *cough* Then our dear hero only stepping in when hamster girl hit her limit. I love how he doesn't complain about her calling him a boulder this time. I mean, I'd be shocked if he didn't know exactly how things were gonna go there, but still. She's tiny, and he's basically solid muscle. He had to have been expecting it. And then. Lord. I keep thinking he can't get any sexier, but then I'm proven wrong. His confidence alone... no nerves, no hesitation, just confidence in his ability and comfort between the two of them. And somehow, as sexy as he was with the glasses, it increased when he took them off. How does that even work? Then the screaming. And the banter. And a return--I think--to the inverse symmetry again. In the alley, as soon as he started making innuendo and she got spooked, Poppy ran away. And now, she readily admits that this is new and scary for her, but she just holds on even tighter. Literally. Finally at the house, and this is properly back to the symmetry. On Ares Street, Poppy noted that all the noise and chaos and violence was terrifying for her, while Tora seemed unfazed and perfectly comfortable in that environment. And now, our Tiger Boy is weirded out by the cacophony of frogs ("deep mafia thoughts" is one of my favorite things now) and set on edge by all the dark and quiet of the country, while Poppy is completely at ease, even with the idea of bugs and snakes in the house. The house. Slight tangent here, but something occurred to me, and this goes back to a certain level of symmetry. They've now each been to two different living spaces of the other, and each time their relationship has grown. Two spaces were their own alone, and two have been shared spaces, mostly occupied by someone else. At Quincey's, everything was new between them. She was nervous, and he was interested but mostly trying to keep her safe. Then Poppy's apartment, which was a reflection of her personality. Small, cheerful, cute, and comfortable. She was a little more comfortable with him there, but still uncertain, and his feelings were starting to grow. Then Tora's apartment was a reflection of him as well. Or, at least, it was a reflection of how he'd come to live his life. He indulges in some creature comforts... shoes and his game system in particular... but everything about the place is stripped down. It's hard, raw, even a little intimidating at first glance. And almost nothing that might be considered sentimental, because connections like that can be dangerous in his line of work. And there, their relationship grew more. Lines of communication were opened up, he let himself be a little vulnerable with her, and they shared a kiss with no strings attached. But they were still in the city, and running away was easy. And now. The home Poppy shares with her Granny. It's small and cozy. It exudes an aura of home-ness. And it's isolated. There's no running away here. No interruptions. Their honesty and support of and comfort with each other has continued to grow. Back to our regularly scheduled program! Does anybody else kind of hope there's occasion for a shared bath at some point? *cough* I can't deny, it crossed my mind pretty quickly when she mentioned the possibility of boiling water for one. But then Poppy in her bedroom, debating with herself over what to wear... It's so real and so relatable. But what I think I love most about that scene is the symbolism at the end. "Screw you, Julri," as her dress pools around her feet, and, "You've run my life enough!" as she walks away, from the dress AND that absolute asshole of a potato. Finally, back to the living room. I'm curious about pictures on the mantle and what kind of glimpse into Poppy's life they gave Tora. But I LOVE his comfortable "Hey ya self." He's at ease. He's not searching for anything here like he was at her apartment. And there's no injured feelings like there were at his. His guard is (mostly) down. There might not  been any "badump," but between his body language and the way his gaze swept up from her feet to her face, there's no mistaking how he's feeling at the sight of Poppy. Aaaand I'm pretty sure he speaks for all of us in that last panel. I might go dehydrated by next Friday with all this thirst.

Don’t mind me as I sCREAM at this episode. I am so, so enthralled by everything about this week. The flirty banter between them is so cute and relaxed I love it! I recently went back and reread the entire series because it had been FOREVER since I first read it and just WOW it’s wonderful to see their growth as people and with each other. Also, I FELT Tora’s words in my soul in that last panel. Excuse me while I go read all the secret garden posts 👀 But for real, the pacing of this story is incredible. I was thinking of how difficult it is to get pacing right to make sure it doesn’t feel rushed or that it’s dragging, and how MPL isn’t like that! So Lilydusk, hats off to you and your incredible mind and hard work!! I also hope your break was restful and you were able to actually have some time for yourself ❤️

I loved this episode SO much! Learning moment nr 1: apparently you cannot just take a potato back out. Learning moment nr 2: apparently in some places like the US you need a separate license to ride .. a scooter?? This one really messed with my head 😂😂 I‘m so proud of Poppy! Ive had to ride a scooter with my mom on the back and she was scared of it, so that freaked me the hell out. So I relate to her little mantra before starting to drive 😂 And then she acknowledges that she wants to feel a bit sexy around him! That‘s a huge step for Poppy after she has been running away anytime things got a bit heated in the sexy way 😉 I‘m very excited to see what comes next. I‘m also wondering about Gyu still. I wonder if his scene will interrupt the fluffiness or if it will come after this whole sleepover arc is over.. i hope the latter. Dont wanna get reader blue balls 😂
