The manor is stunning! Their late night stroll was a nice showcase for the landscaping and the whole structure. I loved how Dream Poppy gave those two a way to communicate about the trust violation without minimizing it or rushing to resolve it. I barely gathered all my marbles to come up with this pseudo-analysis, and I make no promises I’ll be able to keep them after the next SG. It’s been only three days since the events in Ep. 88 when Poppy confessed to Tora that she’s having a hard time telling others that she’s upset at them because it makes her feel weak and vulnerable. The same moment when she promised she would be mindful of lashing out at him out of nowhere. Now, Poppy had a lot to process during these days: the attack, the things Tora has hidden from her, the job situation, and I’ll go on a limb here and include her own feelings toward Tora on this list. And there is the issue of trust. Have you ever lost trust in someone? Remember how that made you feel? Losing trust is a heartbreaking process, it hurts deeply, and to some extent it makes you doubt your abilities to read a person. Given Poppy’s insecurities and past, I can see how losing trust in Tora could affect her. After all, she had only known Tora for a few months, right? But despite all that, what does she do? She makes herself even more vulnerable by admitting it, true under a very veiled attempt of saving face, yet she makes good on her promise to be mindful of her words and her behavior. And by telling him how she feels she places a new piece of TRUST in him, believing that he will understand her and that this is not the end of their relationship. This is the hopeful Poppy, the kind Poppy, the person that cannot stand to hurt someone even if she herself had been hurt back, the one that Tora saw glimpses of at the very beginning in a selfless act of hand-holding. I feel this is a side of herself that Poppy keeps hidden out of fear of being hurt again, a side she had revealed again and again to Tora in little acts of assurance, of acceptance, of hope. Such as the tiger rice balls she made for him or reassuring him that for her he’s just “a regular guy” outside of GGP offices when she found out about the clan. Such as the kiss on Ares street when he was shaking, or the little touches that go a long way - her hand over his in this episode when he tensed as if she was saying “not everything is lost”. Remember how Tora said in the car with Quincey “not sure if we’re still friends, forget about being together.” This nightly conversation is the proof not only that they’re still friends, but that they are still together and must overcome hurdles like communication and trust issues - together (the make-out sesh doesn’t hurt either lol). The motif of the light is back and I cannot love it more. After Poppy lights the candle on the lantern she says “don’t go out, we need you”. Now some commented that she says this to the ghost, but I saw it as saying it to the candle itself. To the light. Don’t turn off the lights, don’t lose hope, don’t give up, guide us. For both of them. We need you - she needs to keep believing in what is taking shape between them, in him and in herself, he needs to “always keep a light on, no matter how dark it gets inside”, to believe in her and the path they are walking together on. The matter of keeping the lights on and constant reassurance goes both ways. Tora reassured her that he understands her feelings, that she was right when she thought he was giving her the silent treatment, that he still wants her and misses her. And in between a light joke about her bravery (big hamster balls) and her blushing later, he also packs an unsaid need for feeling loved, more than what she offered so far. “Shit, I’m relieved to get a reaction from ya, you’re always so controlled I was starting to think you’re not attracted to me.” - he knows she’s attracted to him as he acknowledged it to himself several times. The way I read it was “I need to know how you feel because you’re still keeping yourself under lock and key, I need to know if you feel as intense or as much as I do.” But he puts it in between two sassy comments so it weighs less and the underlying meaning goes unnoticed than if he would have asked her straight to her face. Now that I managed to make you all angsty, please proceed with theories about how Tora lost his shirt during the night because I’m out of brain cells when it comes to the insane chemistry these two have. Intense drooling and the one remaining neuron are all Lily’s fault, okay? Okay.

My first time being in the States as an ep drops, meaning I didn‘t have to read it a) in the middle of the night or b) four hours after everyone else - BUT I made a conscious choice this time to be patient and wait until after dinner, so I could read in peace and get a back rub 😍 Best decision ever. I‘ve re-read a few times now, because it‘s that good. And the episodes hit so much harder when I‘m not delirious. 17/10 reading experience. Wish I could do it again 😂

*Screams into a pillow* Because I can’t scream out loud without making the neighbours knocking on my door. But that’s what I want to do every time I think about this episode! Frustrating it’s taken me this many days to be able to sit down and write this. In the meantime it has made me smile every single time I have thought of it! And opening with Tora whistling and the whole mood just being super light and easy already was so welcome I can’t even begin to tell you! My husband remarks that when I’m in a mood - sometimes not even a visible one, just a bad day - that it affects everyone, i.e. he and our two girls. He says it lightly, but it holds a weight that we’re all connected so strongly that they pick up on my mood so easily. But it’s the same with this comic. I feel so enraptured and connected to the storytelling, that the mood Tora has been in for the last few episodes has really affected me too. So we be whistling now? HELL YES! I am all here wanting to know WHY we’re doing a tune and I was so happy to read we didn’t have to wait too long to find that out. “You’re in a good mood for someone who’s on his ladylove’s shitlist.” Pft pft, just Quincey reminding us he’s still in Poppy’s bad books, but maybe not at the top of the list now. Also rumpled Quincey is amazing! So is Tora just casually walking around in his boxers. I’m gonna be sad to see him wearing trousers again. WE GOT A DIMPLE! NOT A DRILL, WE HAVE A DIMPLE!! Oh that smirk made me giggle. When was the last time we saw it? I don’t even remember! But that twinkle in his eye is making me so happy! Be prepared for some gushing here apparently. I know it was her way of protecting herself the best she could, because that conversation was not easy and with how she’s been gaslit by jerki, it makes sense for her to be wary of opening up. So Tora…are you really able to see things from the other side - or wherever they come from - thanks to your heritage with Ulaan, or are you just pulling Poppy’s chain? High key wants Tora to actually be tuned in to the supernatural because it would make me very happy. Just saying. HA! Fuckin’ Quincey trying to eavesdrop already, LOL. Suddenly I’m taking it all in, in big gasps and just staring at the panel of their hands burning a hole into my screen. I love them so much! Look at him on her level staring at the light. “Don’t go out…we need you!” Well shit, I’m no Patty with how amazing she is at looking into the symbolisms of this amazing story. But that one definitely didn’t go over my head either! They’re going to need all the light they can get to guide them through this dark patch, and like Joe said, “Remember kid. So yeah…I saw that panel and I had the breath I just got back, ripped right out of me again. It was beautiful! Visually and emotionally. The landscaping at this place is gorgeous!!! I am a stars girl. D’uh with the name, but I can’t express how happy seeing the stars makes me. And seeing all this amazing detailing of his home and the night sky above them, I can’t help but take a deep breath and just soak it in. I freaking love the artwork of this story, Lily. <3 Ohh, the conversation they had, Poppy telling him that her trust with him broke into many little pieces…I felt that sucker punch as much as Tora clearly did, with how tense it seems he got. Though it has come as no surprise to hear her say it, and go big or go home. She’s got things she has got to get out, he was never going to like hearing what she had to say. But her reaching out to take his hand, asking if she can continue…it was only because she took his hand that I didn’t recoil at her asking if she could continue. How often has she been shut down in the past and too afraid to say how she felt? She knew what she said hurt him, and she’s still trying to find a connection and comfort for him, despite what she’s saying. Poppy has big feelings for this thug, she didn’t have to take his hand, but it’s obviously been upsetting her too to be silent with him. And maybe she needed that contact as much as Tora. So huge sighs of relief all around when he tucked his thumb over her fingers. And looked her in the eye encouraging her. YES TORA!!! My God, all the open communication between them in this chapter has been incredible!! We knew they’d talk eventually and I am a firm believer they are going to be so much stronger for this. But knowing it was coming and reading it….it’s even better!! Fuck, reading Poppy say she was afraid she’d lash out and say something she’d regret again, and theyd argue again - ouch!! That’s me. I know when it’s coming and I walk away before it gets to that point. And it takes a lot of will and awareness to walk before you make that regret. So I’m applauding her for being aware of this and acting accordingly. And being so honest and vulnerable with Tora about it. It’s not easy to face the parts of ourselves like that, but she's owning it. “Hey - ya need more space. S’okay. I get it.” *Claps wildly and loudly* Perceptive Tora strikes again! The weight that must get lifted when he tells her what she needs and deserves to hear, I can’t even imagine. Bahaha, Poppy calling him a chicken shit for giving her silent treatment for a week made me laugh! And his admission that she’s got more courage than him for talking to him sooner than he did. And let's face it, that was only because they had their joint birthday party. So I wonder how much longer he would have gone on with that at the time. But back to their conversation and I was so happy that he understood it and was honest with her too. The way he stood there with his hands behind his neck…damn his body language was screaming frustration at me! But I’m loving all of this honest talk. My chest doesn’t feel so tight anymore. ‘Smack!’ “ - pat on ya back for speakin’ ya mind and being a brave little trooper.” Tora if you hadn’t just nearly sent her face planting the grass with that ‘pat’ I hope she would have given you a little love tap to the nose again. Pft pft. Her face saving attempts never fail to make me smile! OR the blush to Tora as he leans in, making her all distracted and forget what the question was. I mean Poppy blushes, that's her thing and I love her for it. But when I see Tora with that glow, it’s a whole other level of OH MY GAW!! My quick thanks to Erdene too, because I’m too distracted by that blanket hitting the ground and Tora calling her ‘Pops’. And you know, the fact they’re making out again, I mean could he wrap himself around her any tighter? It’s delicious!!! Until Tora fucking cockblocks himself!! Tiger what are you doing?? She’s aroused, you’ve got your answer, don’t bloody ruin it! Even if I am HOWLING AGAIN at the sheer glow coming off Poppy that Tora bear hugs to him. I know I say it a lot, but the award for best balance between all things and comedy goes to you, Lilydusk! I am shaking with laughter at his response, fucking all of it! Adding this to my list of things to come back and reread when I need a laugh! Hold on, I know Tora cracked a joke about it being impossible she wasn’t attracted to him, but I’ve just realised how much he genuinely worried if she WAS attracted to him. Further proof this man is so far gone down the love trail. And I guess he’s so used to women throwing themselves at him that Poppy being reserved has been a shock. But it definitely feels like it hit harder than that. Picking my slightly slacked jaw back up now. “Because I miss ya.” he says with a blush. Oh Tora, tiger, buddy. Lot to be said between the lines there. You’re all but telling her you’ve caught major feels here and you’re scared of getting hurt. Which is legit. But ease up on me OK? I’ve just come back from some intense silent treatment and your make up/cockblocking moment. I don’t know if my heart can take your squishy vulnerabilities too. I mean shit, look at Poppy’s expression and her heart hammering! “Ya smile, ya voice, ya hair, everythin’.” Annnnnd I’m gone. I’m toast. And Poppy is too, after that admission she’s not freaking out and pushing him away. THIS HAS BEEN A LOT! Zero complaints because I’ve loved every visually stunning part of this episode and you can tell you enjoyed working on it too, Lily! I feel so much lighter; so I’m going to take this happiness and keep it for as long as I can before some arsehole tries to take it from me. I LOVE IT! Thank you forever, Lily!
