For those who missed the stream, and don't have time to watch a recap.

My streaming PC (which is just about a 5 years old laptop) has kinda been acting wonky.

How? We'll the screen doesn't work, and nor does the external port to an external monitor. The drivers/GPU or the monitor seem to be having issues. It turns on, flickers insanely fast and then just goes black.

The temporary fix, was to use Accessibility Narrator to blindly find the drivers in the device manager and initiate trouble shooting, which "fixed" the issue temporarily. An external monitor works... when it feels like it. So it's random and iffy when it comes to reliability.

So after going through the Mammed Udi tech support trial by fire and blindly fixing it for the time being, I'll be moving things over to a new computer somewhat soon.

So everyone helping out THANK YOU!!!

2024 has been dreadful with medical bills, having to fix various things like plumbing and other necessary dwelling issues and now this. So 2024 is going to be an "in the red" year, financially. (I always like to blame YouTube as they kinda don't let anyone know I exist anymore) :(

BUT! I'm trying to be optimistic. Physical therapy is going well, the computer slowly dying is going to force me to get some better tech that will improve the streams overall quality and make the Steve (Vtuber) streams run a little smoother. So more power is always a good thing.

Not sure when this is going to happen, but I can't really work with a computer that MIGHT want to show me visuals from day to day.

THE TECH STUFF!!!!

For the tech folks, essentially what's happening is the laptop monitor flickers like crazy on start up, then goes black.

-SOMETIMES it'll work when I duplicate or extend monitor to another device.

-Sometimes, the external device won't work, but the laptop monitor will.

-Sometimes, neither will work.

GPU is a RTX 2070 : I've Updated all the drivers, clean install, adjusted things to 60 hrz on all monitors to have a consistent refresh rate between the two monitors. Took things apart, checked all connectors, cleaned EVERYTHING, power cycled and the usual remedial troubleshooting. No signs of a short or burnt transistor. So I have NO idea what's happening. Again, it's very random and fickle. (Computer is always a good temp and I constantly have an external fan on it as well to keep it even cooler. General room temp is 65 degrees. Internal barely goes above 90) All fans are in working order.

Not sure if anyone can do anything with that, but again, it's an older laptop and I probably have to move on to a new one soon. :(

So for those reading this and haven't supported, consider it if you can. Those already helping, again, THANK YOU! :)

Back to work!

(Using an older laptop to work on Foamy cartoons, so those will keep going) :)

It might be a bad LCD driver. It might not be good with 60hz anymore. Have you tried it at 30Hz? I know it can be a bit harder on the eyes but might get things cleared up if its tripping over latency from getting close to failing.

If monitors flashing like that on boot (before Windows) could be a BIOS issue and worth updating / reflashing. Seen this on HP consumer grade laptops in the past and some ProDesk models after receiving certain OS updates. Outside of that I'd be checking to see if re-seating the display cable fixes it or if theres signs of damage on the run to the screen e.g wear on the cable as it passes the hinge.

ater hearing it was Acer Copy Paste > If your Acer laptop can't see its storage after a Windows update, the most likely cause is a missing or outdated "Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST)" driver, which is needed for the system to properly recognize your SSD, especially on newer Acer models; you'll need to download the correct driver from the Acer support website and manually load it during the Windows installation process if necessary.
