Original Pilot of My Little Pony had kidnapping magical transfiguration slavery attempted apocalypse mixed in with the songs and fun characters. Tirac was going to use the mutated ponies to pull his charriot into the sky to use a "Rainbow of Darkness" to make it so the world would never have light again, and that was one of the least dark parts of the plot.

Schmooze was in My Little Pony the Movie. It was created by three witches to destroy the Ponies castle they used in the pilot. The second Pilot Escape from Catrina is where they introduced baby ponies as more than one and the fashion aspect that was used to sell the toys in later series.
