OfflineTV at VALORANT Champions 2023 Behind the Scenes (Patreon)
Content
Hello Offliners & Patronies! I know it's been a while since the event, but we wanted to say thanks again to everyone who supported the OfflineTV booth at VALORANT Champions 2023 whether in-person or online. Now that the event is over, I'd love to share some BTS info on things like budgeting, design development, and other fun bits with y'all :D Hope you enjoy the read:
Design DevelopmentThis booth was primarily designed by myself, Henry, and a wonderful artist named Yunny who collaborated with us for last year's TwitchCon booth as well! We went through a few rough months between ideating to landing on a final design that we were all happy with. Henry really pushed for us to create an experiential design that was a level above what we've done before and I think it paid off in the end result!
You can see in the images our V1 (double decker) -> V2 (single floor no crate hallway) -> V3 (single floor mega long crate hallway) -> V4 (final with the shorter crate hallway). We also have some lovely photos that Jason took showing how it all came together IRL!
BudgetEvents are incredibly expensive to put on, especially if you want to stand out amongst the crowd and give your attendees a special experience. Below is the breakdown of where our costs went this time:
$80,000 - Booth fabrication (shipping container rental, milk crate structure, gacha machines, installation labor, electricity, decor, etc)
$10,000 - General production costs (booth design development, photo opp artwork, staffing, meals, graphics, Mastercard deliverables, etc)
$20,000 - Free OTV x VALORANT merch for booth attendees (750x totes, 750x pouches, 250x hats, 3300x magnets, and artwork)
With the way that OTV is structured, we don't have to pay our talent a fee to make appearances at events through the org which saves a lot of $$ compared to traditional brands!
Fun Facts
It took a collective of at least 30 people from OTV, Riot, Mastercard, booth manufacturer, artists, and more to put our Fan Fest booth together
We imported 6x Bandai official gachapon machines from Japan for this that arrived the DAY before Champions started. They also only take Japanese 100 Yen coins so we had to ask around in our network to see if anyone had a ton available. Luckily, one of our staffers and one of our Patronies, Rachel, were able to share enough with us in time!
We started a "late" penalty board internally for talent who show up late to shoots, events, etc. This time, we had no late talent for their M&Gs which was literally a first
We pitched a "simp card" pin to Mastercard as their freebie but unfortunately it got turned down LOL, they were surprisingly chill about it though
I believe this is one of the first times that Patronies got to use their special access status and received extra freebies for visiting us!
Feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I'll do my best to answer :) We hope to see you at future events!
