The full version of "Everything Stays" has to be one of my favorite songs in the series, which makes sense because Rebecca Sugar composed it. The song was inspired by a stuffed rabbit Rebecca owned as a child, which she lost in her garden. When she returned a few months later, she found it all faded and diminished, but it was still there, right where she had left it. Another little fun fact is that this story would also inspire the creation of Spinel from Steven Universe The Movie and you can see that with her backstory. I think this song perfectly summarizes the resolution Marceline has as well as her conversation with the vampire king in the previous episode. Marceline has been around so long that she can see patterns within life making it almost feel repetitive and stale for her. But at the end of her journey, she realizes that everything does stay, but in little ways, things do indeed change. While everything in the status quo might go back with Marceline being a vampire again and Bubblegum getting her kingdom back, they did change from this and gained a new outlook. Marceline has felt mortality once again, giving her back that empathy she had lost all those years ago as well as growing from this experience, it also helped Bubblegum and Marceline become closer again and mend their relationship after the falling out they had a long time ago.

I was gonna comment about the Everything Stays Song.... but KaosKurve already summarized all the important stuff about it. Tho i can still say... that it is without a doubt my favorite song of the entire show (not counting spin-off shows). I also want to point out.... i really liked the detail of Marceline making sure that the VK was not inside the Dark Cloud before she started absorbing it, it demonstrates that she really has grown up to even feel empathy and consideration towards her old mortal foe.

everything stays is my favorite adventure time song. it is just so raw and beautiful. stakes will always hold a special place in my heart, marceline and simon will forever be two of my favorite characters
