for the Distant Lands specials, episodes 3 & 4 were swapped relatively last minute due to some delays on what was supposed to be episode 3. basically, the “correct” watch order is “Together Again” before “Wizard City”

the doppelgänger plot line Adventure Time flavor is one of the best overarching sub-plots of the whole series. Fern is an incredible character and an interesting benchmark for Finn’s growth

i think fern was saying “don’t call me weird”. finn’s “i don’t like being abandoned! i’m sensitive to it” makes me so sad. sooo excited for season 10!

It's interesting that what Fern did with trapping Finn is pretty similar to what Finn inadvertently did to his other self when he was turned into a sword and forced to stay in a room with basically nothing. His comments about "you've been Finn long enough" makes alot of sense because he is Finn but was turned into Fern against his will, which has to be pretty mentally difficult and that says nothing about the literal Grass Demon attached to his soul

I know you're correct in your assesment.... but calling Fern a "benchmark" for Finn feels so incredibly messed up.

We've come at last to the Original Season 8 Finale.... and this one is probably the most heartwrenching Finale in the whole show. I will say this here and once again in the near future..... Fern is without a doubt the most tragic character in Adventure Time, He's Finn... straigh-up just Finn, but he was turned into a Sword due to Prismo's crazy plan to resurrect himself... then he was consumed by the grass sword... becoming "Fern" against his will, now he's a Finn that no one else recognizes as such because there's already a Finn in this dimension... everyone he ever knew and loved at best sees him as a stranger or at worst as an impostor or a monster, giving the poor guy probably one of the most extremes forms of existencial crisis. And not only that.... he's also being controlled by the Grass Demon to always be bloodthirsty and violent. And what is the point of Finn telling him to just "be himself" when he's just Finn as well? and if Fern "tries to be Finn" everyone else is just gonna tell him once again that he's not the real Finn. our Finn is basically telling him to make an entirely new identity and personality from scratch, that's unbelivably difficult... if not Impossible to do. "He felt nothing", oh i completely disagree Mikey, i think he felt A LOT of stuff when Finn said those things, probably a little bit of conflict.... but most likely just pure indignation and anger.... for Finn to call both of them "brothers" (while well-intentioned) was pretty much a subtle confirmation that our Finn doesn't see him as "Finn", which is who he truly is. I can't even imagine what it's like to live through all of that, i have nothing but sympathy for Fern.

Didn't PB say "fatality"? I've heard "fatality" every single time I've ever watched this episode, and that's a lot. I thought the whole joke was that Finn said "finality" but the arm misheard it as "fatality" so it activated fatality mode.
