Daphne O'Reilly

This episode is reminding me of the cat fingers episode from Steven Universe.

Aaron Baucom

according to concept art for the show, gary’s parents are based on the rotten banana guards that guarded neddy in “bonnie and neddy”.. and they’re polyamorous!

Julio Castillo

I assumed that they were the human representation of the Mother Gum, but that explanation also makes sense.

That little spider that Cake killed in the little Marshall Lee flashback is the same Spider dude from the episode "Web Weirdos" from Season 4 of the original show. And i think Cake saying "That felt good" after killing it... is the writters acknowledging the fact that it was one of the worst episodes of the show, if not The Worst. (Normally i would say that "Water Park Prank" is the absolute worst episode of the original show... but since it's a guest-animated episode... the dishonor of being the worst regular-episode of Adventure Time does have to go to "Web Weirdos"). Also.... the pattern on those Butterfly's wings.... look like Golbetty's eyes. I wonder if perhaps this is the new form she took after sending Simon away at the end of last season?. Oh.... and i forgot that Grey DeLisle voices Ice Queen, or in this case... Simone. Her being a more positive influence on Marshall Lee's life perfectly mirrors Simon and Marcy's relationship on Ooo.
