So the question now is, does Mikey stay with the regular anime with Fishmen Island, or watch the remaster of the arc, that have shrunk removing some of the unnecessary parts so that he gets it done faster than the regular anime.

This is such a fun episode. I watched it a bunch when it first came out and still watch it relatively regularly. So much nostalgia and emotions. Theres also loads of easter eggs for fans in this episode. The conversation in the bar about Swordsman is an exact representation of what One Piece power scaling looks like. Theres always people arguing about who's stronger and adding stipulations or pulling random names that aren't even relevant into the conversation. I also love how every Straw Hat has a fan in the episode and they are all the most random people for various reasons. Because again, when you interact with the community you realize that people love all kinds of different characters and the majority of characters in the show are written so well that its hard not to love them.

This director of this special also directs some episodes now and again (not until ep950+ though lol) and they are always INCREDIBLE. Like genuinely, some of the highest quality anime episodes ive ever seen. I can't wait until you reach those episodes

He will stay with the original anime, even if it has some padding. Mikey has already said that even if it's more tedious to watch in regards to pacing.... he still wants to experience the anime the way the majority of us did.

Yeah.... Fan Letter is amazing. The animation style of this special is actually akin to what the anime currently looks like, but obviously with much less consistency in the quality due the past weekly release. It's such a cool idea to make a special from the perspective of the normal people of this world, not just that but creating characters that were directly inspired bu the Straw Hat pirates... much like all of us in real-life fans have been as well. Fun Fact: the end credit's song of this special is the current opening of where you are right now in the anime... "We Go", but sung by all the Straw Hat Members..... and this time with Franky and Brook included.

Pure cinema. the director is Ishitani one of the youngest Toei talents and the storyboard + the animation director by the legendary Masami mori also one of Toei best animators 🤍🤍 Fun fact this special episode reached the top rated anime special of all time! Thank you Toei we love you so much for everything

Little taste of the animation that has yet to come. I even believe since this is a single episode they had a really good budget for it.
