So yeah.... you have now witnessed how Armament Haki is visually depicted (a sort of metallic black coating on the part of the body the Haki user wishes to cover)... Oda has said that the reason Armament Haki didn't look like that before even when other characters used it... it's because we are seeing the world primarily through Luffy's eyes... and since he didn't know how to use Haki before... he also couldn't perceive how it looked like. (but as cool as that sounds.... when he answered that question it was pretty clear that it's just an excuse to justify the fact that he hadn't thought about depicting Haki like this before the Timeskip xddd).

I don't blame you for mentioning Davy Jones when the Flying Dutchman ship appeared.... im also a big fan of Pirates of the Caribbean. However.... the myths of Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman are completely separate. As Robin mentioned back in Long Ring Long Land.... the myth of Davy Jones is that he was an incredibly wicked pirate of the distant past who sinked and died.... and now lives as an underwater spirit, taking any items, food or treasure into his locker. On the other hand.... the Flying Dutchman is a ship that got cursed, and it's captain is a man named Hendrik Van Der Decken (clearly the direct inspiration for the mentioned "Vander Decken" here in One Piece).

Its episodes like these that remind me how much I love One Piece. The fun little gags are always great. Things Franky doing morse code with his nipple lights or the drawn out scene with Caribou and the barrel. While they do not contribute anything to the plot they still make for fun moments and help develop the characters further.
