The bear was Sarah Lynn's step dad and its implied during Herb's funeral when she licked the bear fur and everyone looked at her and she said "Yep, it's bear fur. What? My stepdad is a bear." That her stepdad molested her. I think there was also a comment she made about him taking photos of her when she was a child but I can't recall exactly what episode that was

Every single thing that Sarah lynn said thisepisode that came from herself ( the rest is just reacting and reflecting what bojack does) .. whenever there is a hot minute when bojack finally shuts tf up - she reaches out only to be let down again. Poor thing. Remember the conversation they had before they firstly stepped apart in season one. SL says „I will die tragically young.. yeah. It’s pretty much too late for me.“ Then the writers to this.. they did that before I just realised . When we saw the first flashback to when BJ met Herb. He roasted him from the audience but later - first thing bj said to him „get cancer“ Cold writing

The bear is Sarah Lynn's stepfather. The man she said she didn't want to be alone with when she tried to hang out with her costar, and the reason she recognized the taste of bear fur. "What? My stepdad's a bear." These moments all come from the episode where we see Herb's funeral.

For real, that's what really gets me about this episode too. "I can't believe child acting is legal, I didn't know what I was signing up for, I was 3" and then Bojack just says that's depressing and changes the subject. Even his monologue at the end is almost entirely about his own issues (Sarah Lynn isn't worried about being remembered), he doesn't try to engage with or even listen to her issues at all.
