Bojack and Hollyhocks dynamic is why this is my favorite season

I use to work as a CNA in the memory care unit, had this one patient that had a doll baby she carried everywhere and called her son. It was interesting as her adult son would visit her every day.

The second half of Bojack is, to me, what Adventure Time post-s3 is like. Like, everything before was really good, with some REALLY high highs, but after? Just the most peak television of the 2010s

This is one of my favorites for sure. To finally be let into Bojacks head around halfway through the series, and it's absolute hell. The moment where he calls himself "oaf" and then a few seconds later Beatrice calls him the same thing, showing where the voice originated. Beatrice should be treated differently now that she's senile, but it's notable that she still says shit like "no one loves a fatty-patty" like even this version of her sucks. The thing that gets me the most is his utter lack of willpower. The way low self-esteem bulldozes over self-awareness/knowing better.

I relate to this episode more than I care to admit. Negative self talk has dominated the latter part of my adult life. Feels like life has been one long hard kick in the urethra sometimes.

Also, this has been really highly praised by both critics and mental health experts for its portrayal of depression and anxiety. It really does manifest this way. Very realistic.

I think you're doing a great job with the commentary. Very insightful. And yes, the Christmas special is worth watching and you can watch it early. It came out after season 1!
