They’ve been teasing the Catra and Glimmer parallels since season 1 and it’s awesome. Think for example in Princess Prom when Glimmer felt so upset about Bow choosing to go with Perfuma, and how abandoned she felt. It was a pretty big deal for her, one of the main themes of the episode. This parallel is one of my favorite things about this show, I love Catra and Glimmer. Great flawed characters, so different yet so similar. There are other instances where they draw parallels, much more noticeable on a rewatch.

I weirdly don't have a lot to say to this time; these two episodes are so good that I mostly just sat back and watched along with you! Love the shout for Elves of Amaranth/Elijah/Mosco near the end! Great spot on the parallels between Catra and Glimmer; definitely deliberate. Also on recognizing Bow standing up to Glimmer as *part of* being a good friend. I cannot *wait* for your reaction to what's next (and very excited about getting three at once)!

I love these two episodes so much! The Mara episode is always so sad, I especially love the moment when Razz put the pie on Mara's seat :((. And everything about Fractures is perfect, how everyone is reaching their breaking point. Season 4 is such a masterpiece

Finally catching up on reactions, since I've been out of town and away from my computer for a bit! Great job picking up on the Catra/Glimmer parallels! That's honestly my second favorite dynamic in the entire show. It's so interesting. Narrative foils, for sure. And it's so cool to re-watch the earlier seasons and see how they were even being set up as foils in the beginning. Their personalities are very similar, they're both close to Adora, they both have a hard time relating to new people/making friends, and they both grew up being treated more like a soldier than a child as well as feeling constant disrespect as human beings from the women who raised them (obviously Angella was trying her best, unlike Shadow Weaver who was mostly being manipulative of all of the Horde kids, but especially Catra and Adora; Angella though at least did actually love Glimmer and tried her hardest to do the best by her, even if it was misguided and she was still traumatized from losing Micah). They're also both rather anxiously attached to their childhood best friends, especially at the beginning of their arcs. They feel this way for different reasons (Catra was anxiously attached to Adora because Shadow Weaver told her that if Adora didn't like her anymore, she would be "disposed of", and her own self-worth was tied into Adora being her best friend; Glimmer was anxiously attached to Bow because she was so isolated and basically kept in a tower growing up, and he was her first real friend for a long time, as we learn in the Princess Prom episode back in season one), but the emotion and parallel is still there, nonetheless. Super interesting.
