Ok so I watched the finale again later in the day and I feel a bit differently about it. In terms of my reading of how these interactions went and how I feel about their futures. I plan to record an additional updated review/analysis portion for the Youtube edit, so let me know if you all want me to post it as a separate video. Here is my full length unedited reaction to BoJack Horseman 6X16!Streamer: Netflix

This was an amazing journey 🫶 thank you for reacting to it

Im definitely curious to see your additional thoughts that you mentioned in the description. Its interesting you mentioned you felt hope for Diane and Bojack as to me it felt like a final goodbye which is very bittersweet. Its really nice to see a show that not just sticks the landing but absolutely nails it with how often shows end up falling flat these days

Tariro

I agrée. I don’t think it’s ambiguous at all, it very much felt like a final goodbye

ok finally finished watching so commenting. i personally think the ending really stuck it and was the best option. there has been a big divide within the fandom on whether or not it was good(/good that bojack lived), and a lot of people who feel VERY strongly that he shouldve died and/or that the last episode shouldve been the last one. ive always felt that it was good that he survived, going with the notion of what diane said that “life is a bitch and then you keep living”. i also feel it wouldve been too downer and also a very bad message for younger or struggling fans, that if you’re fighting addictions or just trying to be a better person overall and such, itll never happen and you should die, you’ll likely die anyways, or you can/should die to get out of whatever it is. bojack living gives him the opportunity to make the right decisions and stay sober and work on being the best he can be, as well as it doesnt let him get away with everything he has done just because he died. mr. blue while being just beautiful to begin with, really feels like the perfect ending song choice and feels like what diane has felt/wanted to express to bojack. their scene of silence is honestly a little heart breaking to me as i think its the right choice for her to focus on her life and separate (seemingly permanently) from him, yet they both have moments of looking over, wanting to say something, yet continuing the silence. im curious to see how your reaction/feelings changed so hopefully if youre willing we can get a post of it!

BoJack Horseman's finale is still in my top 3 for animated shows full stop! It's super bizarre how the supw ended up if you only watched the first episode! 💀 I also really appreciate that they didn't shy away from the reality of almost everyone distancing themselves from BoJack (To varying degrees, mind you). The ending convo with BoJack and Diane sticks with me the most! Happiness is an especially difficult emotion to thoroughly enjoy, I generallybfeel neutral or content at best during the vast majority of my day. However, those little moments of happiness, like being with a partner or playing a game that you've been waiting ages for! Monents like these are truly worth cerishing, because you never know when you'll be feeling happy next! 🥲 For the final scene, I definitely take it that Diane was saying goodbye to BoJack permanently. It's not through hatred, but necessity since no one knows if BoJack will ever truly "bounce back" and if his maturing during his incarceration will be permanent once he gets a hint of stardom again. She doesn't want to let herself be hurt by BoJack's actions anymore, with his voicemail before the plunge being the final nail in the coffin. This is one of the first shows that I've seen properly portray setting boundaries and relapsive behavior to this extent! BoJack Horseman is an absolutely phenomenal show and it will always hold a special horse-shaped place in my heart!

I no longer felt hopeful after a second viewing. Complete misread by me. There’s a part of me that wishes I never reacted to this show and just watched it on my own. This admittedly was a very tough show to make reaction videos for and I feel I couldn’t give it my full attention because I also had to put on a show

mikeyventure

Yeah when I watched the episode again, I definitely sensed more this was a goodbye. I had a complete misread of that ending and was definitely channeling the recent feeling of reconnecting with a friend I haven’t spoken to in 12 years. I think I was hoping that one day these two would reconnect someday, which still could be a possibility

A fittingly melancholic ending to my favorite show. I came for the humor and stayed for the emotional resonance. Hooray for Hollywoob. Todd's deconstruction of The Hokey Pokey is brilliant. He's my series MVP.

I know the audience was a bit split on this finale but seems I'm in alignment with all the commenters here that it is absolutely the perfect end. This is one of my favorite shows ever made, and I've enjoyed this reaction series so much, you've had a really mature and insightful approach to it. tbh I probably am dropping off the patreon for the time being just because this was the show I was still subbed for after signing up for Steven Universe and Adventure Time, but I do really value your specific reactions, I wouldn't sub to just any channel reacting to one of my favorite shows.

Man, even after all these years, the final shot with Bojack and Diane and that song still makes me cry. I was lukewarm on this ending at first, but it's grown to be one of my favourite endings of tv; I love the uncertainty and the tentative hopefulness. I love the glimpse of old Bojack when PC says Horny Unicorn is a success. I love 'life's a bitch and then you keep living'. These reaction vids have been 10/10, if you wanna do another video I'm definitely down to watch, but no pressure obviously.

Anna Katarina Kellberg

Hedda Gabler is a play written by Henrik Ibsen, Beatrice’s favorite playwright. Ironically, it’s about a very strong (and in many ways manipulative) female character. Which seems very fitting for when BoJack finally concedes and decides to pick up Ibsen after all of those years of his mom talking about him. So then he tells PC ”It’s not Strindberg, but…”, because obviously now that he’s done Ibsen he can’t just be happy and instead has to go for the next goal, in this case, doing a production of Strindberg. Which is also funny because Strindberg intensely HATED Ibsen, SPECIFICALLY for his tendencies to write strong female characters who didn’t take shit from anyone and who actually won in the end (such as Nora in A Doll’s House, Beatrice’s favorite play, as specified in Free Churro). So saying ”Well, it’s not Strindberg”, is like… no, of course it isn’t, because they’re each other’s antitheses 💀

JimJam

Yeah thats the difficulty with reactions but thats ok! I think people sometimes forget this is your initial reaction and not an analysis that you've had time to think on. I think there is some hope to be found in those interactions too though even if they felt like goodbyes so I don't think you're necessarily wrong on your initial vibe really

If you want, you should try watching Ducktales(2017 reboot)

I like your thought in another comment that even though this is the end of their friendship, maybe they'll connect again someday. They'll continue to evolve and it's possible they could be friends again. I love that the most about this show: how we evolve as people, and relationships don't have to last our whole lives to have meaning and value. So, I got divorced a while back. Coincidentally (or maybe not so much since this show sometimes seems to be made for me personally; I'm sure a lot of us feel that way!), I separated a few months before season 5 came out; Diane's monologue made me break down for 20 minutes or so. Anyway, we had a rough split, mostly over money, but after a few years of coparenting, we started talking more and now we're good friends again. And I tell anyone who offers condolences that I don't feel bad because, even though it didn't last forever, I see my marriage as a raging success. We had ten pretty wonderful years together, I have a ton of amazing memories, and we create two beautiful human beings I wouldn't trade for anything. If I could go back in time and change things, I wouldn't. It wasn't all good, but it all led to who I am today and, more importantly, who the people I love are today. I think that's one of the key points of this show. And I love it for that.

Steelburgh

Agree 100%. I also think him dying would've undermined the flip side of what you said about him continuing to work and get better, which is that you are never truly "fixed". Addiction, depression, whatever you're struggling with, it will likely continue to be a struggle. It might be harder sometimes, and easier sometimes, but it never truly gets resolved. Every day you have to wake up and get back to work on yourself. What a show.

KaosKurve

What a beautiful ending, I'm glad to have stuck around to watch you complete the series!
