This was definitely an interesting start to the show, Boba being a crime lord is an awesome direction but I'm a little confused about the way he's doing it. Loved finally getting to see him escape the Sarlacc pit and of course, he and Fennec just make for an unstoppable duo!

Yeah I think it's fair to say everyone's expectations were more than subverted when this show premiered lol, it has a lot of interesting things in it, some unexpectedly good things, some bizarre weird & jarring things and some you just don't know how to feel about lol. Still though I think there's plenty of things to still enjoy in it even if you aren't on board with Boba's Character himself at the moment. A lot of the things I really like in this show is everything around Boba which is quite unfortunate to think about 😅 I mean don't get me wrong though I wouldn't say I dislike Boba in this show but it's just I find everything around him is far more interesting for me 😂 All the Flashback scenes are definitely my among favourite parts of the show Like I could just watch all those parts strung together on their own. I just love what they're doing with the Tuskens and getting to know this specific tribe and even form a kind of connection to them in an unexpected way lol. I also really love that they did vary up the costumes a bit like the Tribe Leader for example and also the Main Warrior one, both have some pretty bad*ss designs, Heck even the Kid Tusken is kinda adorable in a strange way 😂 It's all kinda resembling the Old Republic game I used to spend hours playing, I spent so much time getting to know the Tusken Tribe in that game and their culture & other stuff, that's definitely something this show does well in my opinion is fleshing them out and I know you were asking for it so I think you'll appreciate all the scenes with them. Fennec is also very enjoyable in this show, as you got to see this premiere she's kinda the "bad cop" so atleast being the Co-Star she kinda balances it out a bit which can make for some really funny scenes 😂 and just continuing to see her in action is always awesome in general anyway. Boba's repurposed torture Droid "8D8" (the white one in his throne room) has some funny little moments too, there's also a bit of a running joke with him as well that you might pick up on later on in the show 😂 The World-building of Tatooine and some other lore things brought into this show is also generally good. Meeting new characters and some unexpected cameos & appearances (without giving any away 😶) is definitely a big highlight as well. And me being a Star Wars Book Nerd there's a Popular book character they brought on screen for the first time in this show that I & other fans lost our minds at! I won't point out who until you meet him though lol. And oh dear Seeing Garsa Fwip again brings back memories 🤣🤣 because at the time the internet being the internet she became the subject of many fan fictions and some "interesting" online fanart as you can probably imagine 😂 she would be all over my twitter timeline each week with just fans sharing tweets about her continuously 🤣 that was quite a time lol I imagine this show had a lot of good Pitches as you theorize, and it all sounds great on Paper but making it all work for a tv show was definitely challenging as you're seeing, all the ideas are there but not quite displayed or strung together in the bestest way. I can get on board with Boba now wanting to be some sort of Respected Ruler of Tatooine and thankfully as you're kinda guessing everything he goes through in the Flashbacks will kinda offer an insight into this new approach for him, but I think the main thing that's missing so far for me is I'd just like to see him display a bit more strength, assertiveness and general bad*ssery in the present day story and I think that's what everyone else was mainly missing too. But It's been quite a while since I've revisited this show and I think sitting here rewatching it a few years later is actually a bit more enjoyable because you kind of know what to expect this time round and have processed everything and Boba's character so it's not really something that bothers me too much today if that makes sense lol. But anyways still excited for your reaction to many things to come in this show even if you're not on board with Boba himself so far 🙂

This whole premiere just seemed like such a mixed bag to me 🤣 Like you said, everything surrounding Boba is good while character himself is left in this jarring position where we’re following his story after he’s developed into a more moral person through something we haven’t yet seen. While this left me with mixed feelings, I’m still looking forward to seeing where this show will go and how Boba will develop, just hoping it gets into the nitty gritty side of the whole crime lord stuff soon. Exactly this! The flashback scenes are awesome and I kind of wish they were done separately to the present plot, having them spliced between the episodes feels so odd as were watching Boba begin developing in the past to become who he is in the present, but he’s also developing there, so we’re watching the same character at to different times in their lived, develop in to different ways where one will have major impacts on the other which we don’t know yet, which will also add to the stuff we’ve already seen from the present 😵‍💫 The Tuskens are great and I love their inclusion here, it’s so nice to get a proper tribe to become attached to and getting to see how they differ from other Tuskens we’ve seen, it does wonders for the image of these people, and their new costumes are just awesome 😂 After hearing about the Old Republic games and what they do with the Tuskens, this must have felt like a fever dream to see Boba actually do the stuff you would’ve done. Love Fennec 😂 Her presence here is great and she’s almost the person I wish Boba was being with how violent her attitude is 😂 😂 but I also hope she gets a good arc and development in this show as her purpose in this episode felt like she was only Boba’s muscle when she is the co-star. I can only imagine what the internet thought of Garsa Fwip 🤣 but yeah I really love the exploration and world-building of Tatoonie, it makes so much sense that the rich and powerful would make there wealth on Water on a desert planet and it feels like there’s so much that could be done with that. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head, the idea of Boba becoming a powerful and respected ruler of Tatoonie sounds so awesome but we need a clear picture of his development, starting from a flawed and brutal man and then evolving into the person he needs to be, what we’re seeing is pieces of that without the clear picture. Boba should be this flawed and ruthless character with the Tuskens but it feels like he’s already changed drastically which we never got to see, then the Tuskens should change him and lead him to the throne of Tatoonie’s crime, and then through all that we should see where this idea of wanting respect is coming from as that doesn’t feel like anything old Boba would care about. Glad that rewatching it now is more enjoyable, and I hope as it does start making more sense to me with the direction Boba is going in. With that said I am still very excited to see where this all ultimately ends up as the present story does intrigue me with the Crime Lord stuff and hopefully Boba’s own story will become more understandable as it goes on.

he took on the title of Daimyo of Tattoine not sctrictly speaking that of a crime lord. jabba just happened to be both. Daimyo in real life were feudal japanese lords who, as leaders of powerful warrior bands, controlled the various Japanese provinces. in other words he is claiming himself as the new ruler of the planet. crime is just how jabba and later bib fortuna made themselves rich since it isn't a republic planet and they could pretty much do whatever they wanted. that doesn't mean that boba as the new Daimyo has to follow them. i also disagree that you have to be a cold and ruthless to survive on tattoine. look at all the people we know who live there, peli, uncle ben, luke, biggs, luke's other friends, the entire town from mando s2e1, heck even baby anakin had a bunch of little friends despite being a slave there. these are all just normal people living on a aweful world but they are still normal regular folks just living their lives. luke's life was actually fairly dull. and even then he had a group of friends and they worked on speeder bikes and shot womp rats and other small town life. yes there are criminals there but there are criminals on every planet. tatooine isn't the criminal capital of the galaxy. far from it, its generally a boring place that everyone who we knew that grew up here wanted to get away from because of how boring it is. (almost a direct quote from luke) uncle ben and beru clearly let luke go off on his own growing up. if it was even half as bad a place as you are making it out to be luke would be a FAR more wary person, who would know how to spot danger and not so easily walk into a tusken trap. but luke is clearly super naive of the the actual dangers.

I agree with you on this and I think the show could have just done a better job at what Boba’s role was going to be, this whole thing started with him killing the guy that took Jabba’s place and then sitting on the same throne, it implied that Boba was now taking that place and here is where things get lost. He both does and doesn’t, he take the leadership position but not the crime and I think this should have been made clear far earlier on. I also think it would have helped showing more of the familiar positivises we’ve seen from Tatoonie as you are right, this place is definitely better than I’m picturing, and that’s definitely on me and my bad memory 😂 but it also never fails to remind you of how bad this planet is, especially with how many nightmare inducing creatures live here. It’s so easy to associate this planet with negativity so I think the main issue is finding those diamonds in the rough like Anakin which this show should have highlighted more, and Boba’s efforts to protect them, instead of having him only work within all the negatives.
