This episode felt a lot better! Finally getting to see Boba start being more ruthless and destructive is exactly what I've been waiting for, but I still think this show would have benefited from doing all the past stuff first and separate before moving on to the present day storyline.

i mean he clearly wanted to get his armor back but he thought it was in a sarlac pit. he didn't even think of risking it until he had both his ship and backup and even dead it burned him so much that he ended up needing the bacta tank. so i personally dont blame him for not trying to get it day 1. he already spent WAY too much time inside one, i doubt he was anxious to do so again.

anakin did all of that 40 -50 years ago as a slave with spare parts. its now much. star wars tech isn generally slow, but it seems that there was a galaxy wide tech boom during the last 50 years or so in the star wars galaxy. Jabba also made tatooine profitable. despite not being part of the republic, he made a deal with them for acces to his hyperspace lanes all the way back in the clone wars movie. so people of all walks of life were suddenly coming to tatooine for one reason or another. did i expect to find a ripperdoc there? no. but clearly there was a market for exploiting bored young people who literally have nothing better to do that shoot rats in a desert.

I think I was just hoping we’d see more of Boba’s relationship with his father through the armour, it’s that and the ship that he has to remember him but while I didn’t go down that path, it does make sense now why he wasn’t desperate to get it back considering where he thought it was.

The thing with this is that it all requires context, the tech scene with Star Wars is such a delicate thing as the franchise is known for being in this retro, space age vibe so advancements will always be difficult, but I don’t think I’ve seen any advancements during the time between Phantom Menace and now. If there have been I’d love to know and could easily be my fault for missing it but I still think there should be an effort to highlight these advancements to make sense of what feels like a jump. Plus I think the Vespa’s just require too much explanation at this point, there’s so many alternatives to this idea and while it may make sense on paper, it doesn’t come through while watching it for me.
