Was this episode designed to give me a heart attack 😂 Felt like it was jump scare after jump scare in this but so glad to finally see Mandalore after all this time and boy did we get a lot on it! Loved seeing Bo-Katan come to save the day but Grogu was definitely the MVP of this episode 🤣

the the mandalorian rulership system is headed by Mand'alor aka The Mandalore. In legends this was not a hereditary position that is passed from ruler to child. it was based on who wielded the Mask of the Mandalore. eventually Tarr Viszla came around and created the Dark Saber and some time after his death his decendants (interesting that he had them as a Jedi) stole it from the Jedi temple and made it into the new symbol of mandalore. this is presumably where legends and canon fuse (since the clone wars is both canon and legends) Clan Vizsla began to pass on the darksaber to their next generation. however to become Mand'alor you are expected to defeat the previous holder and earn the title of Mand'alor. so I am guessing that because they started passing down the sword rather than letting it be won from the previous Mand'alor, rulership of Mandalore pass on to Clan Kryze. And so that is how Satine and Bo Katan could be princesses despite only being the daughters of a Duke. To add further confusion Satine was the Duchess of Kalevala, as is Bo Katan now. However in Clone Wars we have Prince Tal Merrik of Kalevala who was once on of Satine's closest friend but later betrayed her for Deathwatch. So somehow is there a Prince of Kalevala but yet the Duchess of Kalevala is widely recognized as the Leader of Mandalore?

on an unrelated topic. HOW OLD IS BO KATAN? I have seen it said in various articles that Satine and Bo Katan were close when they were younger. this suggests that they are fairly close in age, as they also don't look too far apart in age in the clone wars. it is also implied that Satine was fairly close in age to Obiwan who was born in 57 BBY. however Satine, the leader of the new mandalorian faction, won the Mandalorian Civil war in 40 BBY. if you assume she was equally as old as Obiwan that means she would have lead a faction of mandalorians and won their civil war at the age of 17?!?! from here we have an 18 year time jump until the Clone wars breaks out. Bo Katan looks relatively young to me hear i would have placed her at 20-25. So if we say that they are 10 years apart that still works with the idea that they could be close when they were younger. so that means if satine is as old as obiwan and bo katan is 10 years younger than her she would have been born in 47 BBY. which means she was 46 when Sabine gave her the Darksaber ( Katee would have been about 42 when filming s3 of mando) then we have to add then another 10 years to catch up to the current year of 9aby. that means we have a Bo Katan of 56?! if we add anymore to the timegap between her and satine it becomes really hard to say that "they were close when they were younger" i mean a 10 year game means she was 7 when 17 year old satine was leading her people in a civil war. thats already a bit of a strech but if you add another 5 years that means she would have been 2 at that same time frame. so to make the phrase "they were close when they were younger" you have to cut away from their age gap, which would only make bo katan even older! in My original calculations i putting her at the low end of her age range during the clone wars being just 5 years older than ahsoka when they first met making her 20. Ahsoka was born in 36 bby so that means she would have been born in 41 bby. that means she was 40 when Sabine gave her the darksaber and 50 at present day. So it seems that regardless of how you cut though, Bo Katan is somewhere between 50 - 60 in s3 of the mandalorian. (i did most of this on the fly as i was writing it so i'm pretty shocked myself at the results)

I never really considered her age but this is such a good question 😂 You’re calculations seem bang on and Bo looks amazing for her age, guess people don’t age in this galaxy like we do in ours 😂 but the only thing I’d add is that Satine could literally have been 5 or 10 when leading the civil, we’ve seen how capable children have been as leaders in this galaxy with Padme and Leia so I would not be surprised if Satine was the same.

The ruleship of Mandalore is so confusing 😂 I feel like it has to be intended this way to add to the mess that the Darksaber’s lineage is in, plus it would add to why the planet eventually fell with it’s leadership becoming increasingly unstable. It’d be so much simpler if they restarted and had a free for all for the Darksaber, last person standing with it wins it and becomes ruler, their family could be the royal family then and could start a line of succession but if anyone wanted to challenge them they could.
