I am in shock! This ending was phenomenal, and now I must endure the torture of waiting for Season 2. A War is on the horizon with Thrawn seemingly teaming up with some ancestral Nightsister stuff 😱 And then I can't believe I remembered this nugget of lore from way back in the Clone Wars' comment section, ABELOTH!!!! What else could that be!?!?!?

obviously there were people who were not happy with that final scene with Sabine and Ezra. but i will contest that she isn't just as strong as any other jedi. If Ahsoka was there in her place Ezra wouldn't not have fallen short. heck he probably would have overshot the landing. Ezra falling short is clearly meant to tell us that she's isn't a top tier force user. now as for the actual push itself. it is entirely possible to teach something like music theory or even computer programming without access to instruments or actual computers. i've heard of both of those situations. This is the situation Sabine has been in. When Ezra met the ghost crew he had no idea what the force was or how it worked. he had been unknowingly tapping into it to do things like jump really high or avoid problems but his M-count was high enough that he was able to quickly start actively tapping into it. he just didn't know what he could do with it or it's limitations. The same thing happened with Luke. On Dagobah, his Xwing sunk into a pond, and Yoda told him to raise it up. This is where we get the famous "do or do not there is no try." Luke despite having an astronomical M-count he was unable to. he tells yoda that he can't do it because there is a difference between moving a bunch of rocks and trying to move an xwing. and so he walks away. then when he sees yoda do it he says to yoda "I don't believe it." to which yoda responds "that is why you failed." If he needed to workout his metaphorical force muscles to the point that he could raise it, i seriously doubt that yoda would have told him to try to do it. in fact yoda looked eager at first when luke managed to jostle it around a little. remember it is the force that is doing all of the heavy lifting here, but luke doesn't have any faith in it. Luke can physically lift a lightsaber with his hands, and he can even lift a few rocks. all of that is within his physical range of ability so he doesn't have an issue lifting them with the force. but an xwing?! thats impossible. and because its impossible for him to try to lift an xwing by himself he believes he is unable to do so using the force. he mentally capped what he can do with the force. that is why luke says that lifting rocks is totally different Yoda says "No! no different. only different in your mind. you must unlearn what you have learned." essentially he is telling him to Trust in the force. SO, what is different between Luke or Ezra and Sabine? the difference is almost 15 years. When Ezra started learning about the force Sabine likewise didn't know anything about it either. but she was on the ship while he learned. she watched and presumably listened while Kanan taught him. and at various times she not only watched Kanan and Ezra push one another using the force, she herself was pushed on multiple occasions using the force (such as on geonosis and on Atalon) she had 4 years of watching Ezra learn to use the force. if we then assume that she became Ahsoka's apprentice soon after the end of rebels that means she trained under ahsoka from 1 or 0 bby until about 5 aby. so now she would have gained theory and more experience at least watching Ahsoka who is even more talented with the force than Ezra and Kanan using the force before Ahsoka walked away. but at the end of the day, Sabine likely had a very very good idea of what the force can and can't do. she just didn't have access to it until now. This was the moment she had been waiting almost 10 years for. to be able to fully use the force. so unlike luke who majorly outclasses her, she had enough faith in the force to be able to push ezra just as far as he needed to.

some more sabine comments. (sorry i have a lot of them for this episode.) Notice that when sabine goes outside and she and ahsoka have their talk, Ahsoka makes it clear that she was aware of what Sabine did. Sabine thought she was keeping that a secret. so that means she never did tell Ezra how she got there. And Ahsoka kept taht Secret from Hera. So only Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang know the truth and they ended up staying on peridea. so when when Ezra goes back Hera will no doubt tell him that Sabine was captured and that Ahsoka went after them to rescue her. (who wants to bet that she didn't say anything to him about Jacen either) and despite Ezra clearly asking about what happened in front of her, Ahsoka choose to keep what Sabine did a secret from everyone! (except huyang but he's part of their inner circle) speaking of Ezra. did you notice that one he is building his lightsaber he complains that the emitter huyang tries to give him is too narrow? that appears to be an easter egg joke about the look of the lightsabers in rebels! and something that i dont know if you noticed during that scene was sabine's reaction to the talk ezra and huyang were having about kanan. when huyang says that "the relationship between a master and their apprentice is challenging as it is meaningful" Sabine has quite a heavy feeling/emotion/saddness. i personally think that's about both Ahsoka AND Kanan. but obviously more towards ahsoka given what comes next. i think it was that conversation on the ship that finally let Sabine drop the last of her walls. that promise of always being there for her along side having finally found ezra again after 10 years. which leads us to the next section. Ahsoka walked away because she was afraid sabine would go darkside! i mean i can believe it. Sabine doesn't take loss or even almost loss very well. when kanan died she went out for revengence. even if all she did was spray paint some people/things. even when hera was only severely hurt she was on the war path ready to kill fenn rau. and she would have easily done so if not for Kanan. So i can see why ahsoka might get worried between Sabine's strong initial reaction and her paranoia about it. obviously if not for that paranoia she would have probably realized that sabine would just work through it like she's always done. it is interesting to note though that Ahsoka was actually afraid that she might be dangerious if she unlocked her potential. so that seems to indicate there is enough potential to worry about. if she will totally suck theres not much to worry about as she'll never do much. also you have to love the way Ezra's actor reacted to the news about the Wrens and mandalore. he did a great job of making the previously happy go lucky ezra get really serious. you can see in him the guy who came up with a plan to get rid of thrawn and save lothal. that was some really good acting on his part! as for her Jetpack. i'm guessing somethign happened to it over 5 years ago. and then sabine never got the chance to get a new one before things fells apart and she just threw here armor in a corner adn forgot about it for 5 years.

Love this explanation, I think in the moment the Force Push felt a little odd since it felt powerful but when you understand everything behind it, it makes perfect sense. I also think Force ability comes down to what the user can imagine with having that blind faith, a high Midichlorian count or talent might help but I think if some Jedi can imagine The Force lifting a building, it can. Luke and Ezra were trained when they were fairly young and so much emnphasis is put on their imagination and experiences to draw on how they can use the Force, Sabine is much older where the imagination normally dulls with age making it more difficult but thankfully she’s spend so much time watching Ezra and Kanan so she doesn’t really need to imagine what the Force can do as she can already picture it, she just has to imagine herself doing it. This means this Force push was completely possible for her and might even be just a weaker version of what she could have done as she may still doubt her own ability and strength.

Love that Ahsoka kept this to herself, the focus of the mission is saving Ezra so telling him that Sabine risked bring Thrawn back to save him wouldn’t have help at all and would only result in forming a rift between Ezra and Sabine where he may have been angry that she did this. Not mentioning this was the perfect thing to do as it keeps Ezra in the moment and I cannot wait for him to learn about Jacen!! It’s so good Sabine didn’t mention that as now Ezra can have a great surprise when he runs into him! 😂 😂 Oh that’s such a good easter egg! Makes me wonder if it’s possible to get see those thinner Lightsabers in Live Action if the emitters exist. I did notice how heavy Sabine’s emotions were during that conversation, a theme of this show has been how complex the relationship between master and apprentice is, and how that’s something that isn’t going away. We see it so much through Anakin and Ahsoka while all this time Sabine is wanting a simpler relationship, hear she sees it’s normal, it’s the same thing Ezra and Kanan had and it was a good thing. Loved this detail, Sabine’s tendencies are so clear and memorable which is another reason why she needed Ahsoka’s help through this partnership, but it also shows so much about where Ahsoka was during this time and how flawed she was. She just gave up on her. Sabine’s family died and instead of being there for her and trying to help her through it, she left. It’s honestly incredible that Sabine even wanted to go back to her after this but I agree this says a lot about Sabine’s potential as well, for someone like Ahsoka to be afraid, she’s definitely going to be powerful. Absolutely loved the range Ezra’s actor demonstrated here, it makes me so excited for season 2 where he’ll obviously go head to head against Thrawn again and will need that serious tone again. Yeah figured as much, hopefully there’s some way she can get one in season 2, if Abeloth is going to be in it, the least they could do to make Sabine more powerful to face something like this is give her a Jetpack!
