Arcane's already off to such an awesome start! The animation alone made this first episode a joy to watch, and then the story being built here with this little family against the world has me so excited to see what's in store!

Seeing you react to both Andor and Arcane now, I just had to become a Patreon member immediately. Hope you'll enjoy those two amazing gems! I certainly did!

I'm happy to see you enjoying both Arcane and Andor. What a glorious time to jump into patreon. Now, League of Legends... finally some use for playing the game for over a decade. I'm frankly somewhat surprised that you have avoided it to the point of considering it not so well known. It was the most played game in the world in 2014 and is still massive, despite losing that title long since. It still has well over 100 million monthly players worldwide and I'm not sure that even includes china as they don't tend to make their numbers public. So, League is a Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game where two teams of five clash in a (typically) 15-35 minute matches, each player playing one of 171 characters called "champions". A few of these champions are characters in Arcane but the show does a magnificent job with original characters as well, not relying on just characters that have been established in the game for years. Two original characters even made it into League after the show aired. Now, the game has a rather vast and expansive universe that mostly only exists in the lore texts of the playable characters and cinematics Riot Games releases every now and then. The gameplay has next to nothing to do with it. Arcane took a tiny piece of this universe as a base for a show but isn't restricted to following the established lore in it's writing. The universe ranges by areas and stories from more mundane settings like we have here, into mythical heroes and gods. There are easter eggs in the show for both lore and gameplay of League but I don't think missing them takes away from the experience. They tend to be very minor, such as the rocky animal in a cage, which is a type of hostile monster in the game.

Both of these shows are just so good, it’s actually quite a bit of fun watching them together as I recorded episode 1x3 of Arcane and Andor 1x6 around the same time and that destroyed me a little bit 🥲 Oh wow! I had not idea Leage of Legends was so huge, I definitely need to look more into it as I think it was just never on my Radar of games but makes sense that it has such high numbers considering they were able to make a show out of it. This is such a great rundown, thank you so much, it’s crazy to hear that there’s 171 champions and Arcane is only using a few of them, makes me wonder what the process was like when deciding which ones to base the show around. Also it’s amazing to hear that the show gives great attention to both established champions and original characters as now I think it might be fun to try and guess which ones are original to the show and which ones were already established. It's so cool to think that the lore for this show and game is only found in those certain places and isn’t a huge part of the gameplay experience, makes me wonder if someone could play the game and might not know the first instance of Lore which would probably explain why the show is able to experiment with not restricting themselves to what’s already been written. I thought there had to be a few easter eggs here and there and it’s so nice to see how they were implemented when this story feels like it’s in the more tame categories of what this seems to be able to get into. Though I think it’d be so cool if this show managed to touch on some of the more fantastical aspects of all this and how they could possibly tie that into the quite grounded story that’s been set up.
