November 2020 Report (Patreon)

And now 2020 is almost over! So you know the usual, I'm gonna be going over my current projects. But first, some stuff I've released this month!

Super Mario Bros. on a Game & Watch vs. Game Boy Micro

The (newer) Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch released this month, and this was a video idea I wanted to make once I got it! I've already made two Things of Interest videos on Game & Watch units and we all know the new one just plays Super Mario Bros., so a regular review of the unit probably wouldn't be too interesting and stand out, but after I made this tweet, I kinda wanted to compare the actual system to a Game Boy Micro for fun! In the future, I might consider doing more smaller non-core videos like this one as well!

Second Channel Updates

This month, I announced intentions to use my second YouTube channel for unscripted videos taking a look at various things in my collection or other miscellaneous topics! So far I've made three videos on Super Mario Bros. for the NES, Nintendo styluses and Tiny Arcade Tetris respectively!

As I mentioned, these would not eat into the time needed to make content on my main channel, but are instead quick topics that I can talk about during down times where I would normally already be too busy to script and edit videos, and considering my future schedule (more on that in a bit), these might be a good idea to do once in a while. The receiption to these have been great, so look forward to more in the future! And of course, other things such as WarioWare D.I.Y. covers will still be published on my second channel as well! I kinda like to dabble in a lot of things.

The Famicom R.O.B. the Robot Experience

The R.O.B. the Robot core video, as of this post, is basically 99% complete! The reason I actually haven't released it yet is because some extra footage still has to be added. While I could release it early right now without it, I personally feel it's worth a slightly longer wait for the complete thing. So apologies for the inconvenience, but it should be ready for early access very soon!

To make up for it, I'm making the first sneak preview of the video, which covers the first 5 minutes of the video, available to all patrons right now! Just click the link in that last sentence. Hopefully it'll tide you guys over until the full thing! In addition, patrons in the Sneak Peeker tier can check out a second additional preview that covers part of Stack-Up!

I suppose I'll talk more about the video itself in the next monthly report, after it is released, but right now I'll just say that I'm a fan of how it turned out!

The next core video...

The stuff I needed to be shipped for the next core video subject has finally arrived this month, so I've started work on the script! I've also mentioned one more hint about the video subject on Discord, but for the record on this site... it's going to be related to Tetris.

That's all I can say for now! I think it would be a LOT more fun to reveal the exact topic when I have a sneak preview of the video to show, but I promise it's gonna be pretty interesting and weird.

And now, my personal studies!

Hopefully you haven't gotten tired of me mentioning it, but yes, a wave of academic projects are once again being hurled towards me. So honestly, I'm glad I spent some early time finishing up the R.O.B. the Robot core video (and establishing bonus videos on my second channel) so that I actually have some content to put out instead of going on another long hiatus! My midterm projects will be going on until the end of December (including more preparations for my graduation thesis that will be a REALLY big thing to do beginning next year, but I'll talk more about how that'll affect my schedule later), so December may only see the release of the R.O.B. core video for now. Although...

Christmas Ideas??????

Okay, just between you and me, see this tweet?

After making this tweet, I dug up the lyrics for this dumb parody song I wrote. I was legitimately considering actually singing it for a Christmas video...

...then I did a few test takes yesteday. Oh lord. I cannot do this, I hate my voice so much.

So uh...that's an idea that I'm still half-considering, but I'll probably have to find someone who can actually sing for this dumb idea to work.

Or, if you have some other ideas for a quick small Christmas video, let me know! Even though I have midterm assignments to finish this holiday season, I might still try and explore what interesting things I can put out, similar to the SMB Game & Watch video this month. Feel free to suggest some ideas in the replies!

As for how and when I'll be doing the 2020 Year in Review this year...I feel like I shouldn't be worrying too much about that until January rolls along. So uh...have a great holiday and stay safe! Catch you guys real soon when the R.O.B. video gets finished!
